I’m supposed to leave feedback for a seller who has never left feedback for buyers themselves.
But the seller automatically gets positive feedback if I don’t leave feedback.
That doesn’t seem fair to me at all.
eBay rewards sellers who don’t leave feedback and distorts the seller’s feedback profile.
Too bad, another pointless change from eBay.

I’m a seller and also a buyer - I ALWAYS leave feedback.
Unfortunately, it’s also not fair that buyers don’t rate sellers and then an automatic positive feedback for the seller from eBay follows (which seems anonymous to me).
Also, that you’re not allowed to rate buyers in the different colors - as already mentioned. As a seller, you put a lot of effort into customer support and packaging, finding the best shipping provider, etc. etc. I now have 16 automatic feedbacks, and those were all buyers who also placed no value on appropriate communication. I think that’s a shame. I know, it’s voluntary - but still, the feedback system is there and it should be used effectively, not ignored. Applies to both sides.
I also rate buyers directly after payment and sellers immediately after receiving and checking the item and don’t wait any longer.
If something isn’t right with a buyer, there’s still the option to sort it out on equal footing, add a follow-up comment, or - if communication isn’t possible when problems arise - involve eBay.
You should all maybe take a step back for once and not react so impulsively, then there would be a more relaxed atmosphere here too. 😉

You’re welcome to decide for yourself which mentors are good and important for you and which aren’t. Your decision.
But please don’t complain later if you get fewer and fewer replies here.
Do what you want with your ratings, or don’t.

the issue of ratings has been discussed here on the forum many times already and is seen differently depending on the buyer/seller.
How you handle it is something everyone has to decide for themselves.
I personally rate my customers directly after payment. If problems come up later, I of course try to resolve them together with the buyer.
However, there are also sellers who only rate once they have been rated themselves. There are good reasons for that attitude too.
If you don't want the seller to receive an automatic rating, then you really have no choice but to rate them yourself.
You could, for example, rate like this:
"Too bad that the seller doesn't leave a rating despite prompt payment."
It remains entirely up to you whether that rating is positive, neutral, or negative.

OP1 week agoThanks for the suggestion, I don't want to harm the seller. The packaging was somewhat questionable, but the item was okay and works.
All buyers who rated him positively end up empty-handed and he automatically gets positive ratings. I know that the system has flaws; I just don't think it's right.

And the sellers also don't get a rating for every item; everything has to be right for that.
And what is fair supposed to mean? Fair would be if you could also rate buyers neutrally or negatively.
