Negative rating despite eBay decision: The case will not be considered when determining your service status
Summary: jartsew641104 reports that, as a private seller, she received negative feedback from a buyer even though eBay had closed the case in her favor. She complains that this worsened her service status and feels the system is unfair. perfect-sally explains that the feedback will not be deleted because it is neutral and reflects the buyer's purchase experience. She recommends leaving a comment and suggests that eBay review the matter, as there may be suspicion of feedback extortion. jartsew641104 adds that the threat of negative feedback had already been made in private messages.
As a private seller, I had declined the return. Ebay closed the case and made the decision that the fault was not on my side. I also received a message from Ebay saying that I do not need to issue a refund to either the buyer or Ebay and that the case will also not be taken into account when determining my service status. Nevertheless, I received a negative rating and few stars from the buyer, which had made my service status much worse.
I ask for the matter to be reviewed and for support from the Ebay team.
Thanks in advance

·3 weeks agoHello @jartsew641104 ,
many thanks for your post.
I took a look at the rating for you. Based on the communication you had with your buyer, there is no rating extortion here. Rating extortion only exists when the buyer demands something they are not entitled to under threat of a negative rating. Here, your buyer asked you to reply so the matter could be clarified. Removing the rating is not possible here because the rating does not violate eBay policy.
@perfect-sally thanks for tagging 😊

·3 weeks agoI don't see any negative rating from you! If you mean the neutral one, it probably won't be deleted because it doesn't violate any guidelines and reflects the buyer's purchasing experience.

OP3 weeks agoThank you very much for your prompt response.
Yes, neutral.
I, as a seller, would also like to reflect my sales experience. Unfortunately, there is no option for that.
The description of the item was honest on my part.
There is always the risk that clothing bought online does not fit.
For 7.24 euros, I had to endure several intrusive messages during one week, including threats to leave me a negative review from the buyer.
Unfortunately, I find the system for sellers unfair.

·3 weeks agoBut of course there is an option. You can always leave a comment on the rating.
Ok, if the buyer actually threatened a negative, an ebay employee should take a look at the message history and the rating and see whether maybe something can still be done.
@vera@ebay could you please take a look at this? I don't know how the message history actually was, but right now rating extortion could be at play. Thanks a lot

OP3 weeks agoThe seller threatened me in private messages on eBay with a negative rating, even before she opened the case.
