wrongly charging listing fees
Some time ago, eBay made all my items invisible on their platform. My items displayed the message: "We are sold out, but here are some other stores you may be interested in". This happened because of an alleged violation of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) rules as set out in the VerpackG (the German packaging law). Because of this action, I could no longer sell any items, while the costs of my store subscription just kept running.
Because I did not want to continue under these circumstances, I decided on July 2 to cancel my store subscription. However, in November eBay reactivated my items and put them back up for sale without my permission. This happened while I no longer had a subscription, which automatically generated "staging fees" (listing fees). In addition, the items weren’t even fully visible on the site, but I was immediately billed for these costs.
I contacted eBay several times. In the end, I was promised in November that the charges would be credited as a one-time exception. Despite that promise, eBay is still trying to collect the amount from my bank account via direct debit. Since I stopped the direct debit in time, these attempts failed. Still, I have now received a message in which eBay threatens to recover the outstanding amount through a debt collection agency.
Throughout this process, I have emailed eBay many times. I repeatedly pointed out that these charges are unjustified, because I no longer had a subscription and did not agree to my items being reactivated. Unfortunately, I did not receive any substantive answers to my questions. Instead, I only got standard replies, with my long-standing customer relationship being emphasized above all else. This feels like an evasive and disorganized attitude from eBay.
At the moment, eBay is not responding to my emails at all. I am very frustrated with how this has been handled and with the poor customer service. I demand that eBay correct this matter immediately, that they stop trying to take money from my account unjustly, and that there be clarity about how this can be prevented in the future.
