High shipping costs
I only recently got an ebay account and I’ve noticed that shipping costs aren’t being shown properly.
For example, there’s one listed at 79 euro + 15 euro shipping from France.
Click on it and it says 25 euro shipping.
Some also ask 40 euro in shipping for a game console.
To countries like Belgium and Germany, it’s offered for 14 euro in shipping by the same seller.
If you ask for clarification about that, you get a story about how it’s because of the Netherlands.
Sorry, but this is just plain scammy.
eBay shipping costs are completely wrong and sellers try to rip you off here with ridiculously high shipping costs.
Especially France and Belgium and Germany do that.
Those Americans do it too with their absurd shipping costs.
That’s what you call bullying Dutch people.
40 euro shipping?
They’re drunk over there.
The same item from the Netherlands 50 euro + 6,95 shipping.
I’ll just buy it in the Netherlands.

·12 years agoThis is another fine example of a lot of shouting while you don't know anything about it at all.
1. The shipping costs you see in the search results are only the costs to the country where the item is. Only when you click on the ad do you see the costs to your location.
2. Every country has different shipping costs. Sellers who accept Paypal have to choose an expensive option to avoid the risk of fraud.
3. For many Americans, customs clearance and taxes are included in the shipping costs. This is called GSP. There are also providers who do not take part in GSP, but then you can pay at the door. For large/expensive items, 40 euros is a very normal amount.
4. Not eBay but the seller determines the shipping costs. If that seems too high to you, then you should look for another provider.
Bullying little Dutchies? I don't know what problems or frustrations you have in your daily life, but that sounds pretty paranoid. Do you really think there are people in the USA thinking; let's make the shipping costs nice and high for those Dutch, nice and annoying for those Dutch. Maybe an account on a conspiracy theories website is a good idea? There are lots of people here who have such paranoid thoughts.

·2 years agoThe terms of sale are not displayed properly on eBay on the item page: I bought a set of tuning forks from the USA for at the time the deal was closed a price of $100 (deacon tonometer) & shipping costs of $49.82. I understand high shipping costs including import taxes with those heavy metal tuning forks, but after agreeing to the seller’s offer I suddenly have to pay $121+ $58.82= $179.82; that was not agreed at the time of sale and is a lot of extra; there is even a difference between the tab before I go to pay and the tab after that where I choose how I pay (and yes: the original amount $100+$49.82 would be including (import) duties and insurance, or ‘all-in’); then suddenly $30 extra is added at the moment you want to pay. The seller says he himself can’t change anything about that, because it is all ‘automatically’ ‘handled’ by eBay.
