💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A on 01/03/23 at 2:00 p.m.
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You’re also welcome to send me topics you think should have a full Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask that you choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - we actually encourage that!
The Q&A session remains open until 15:00. After that, it will be closed for additional questions. Of course, we will still make sure to answer any questions that may remain unanswered – please give us a little time for that, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support so we can get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 14:00 and 15:00.
The eBay Q&A session format reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoFor how many items does free listing and no commission apply?
patrick@ebay
Hello @siegi046 ,
you probably mean our news: As of March 1, 2023, private sellers on eBay.de sell for free
, listing & selling is now generally free for private sellers. P.S. > New reply here
Best regards

·3 years agoDo I have to pay commission for items at 1.00 that exceed the 320 free ones?
patrick@ebay
Hello @siegi046 ,
I just wanted to update my first reply to you again.
Per month, private sellers can list 320 offers for free. In addition, you do not pay listing fees for 2500 auctions (with a starting price of EUR 1.00) with a duration over 3 days.
Best regards

·3 years agoGood day!
For comparison with my records, I need an overview of my sales from past years (2020/2021) for my tax return. I requested this via the hotline, but only received the monthly statements.
Is there a way to display an overview of older sales? Or do I need to contact the hotline again?
miriam@ebay
Hello @shirt-world! Unfortunately, we cannot provide the requested data. Please note §3 paragraph 14 of our Terms and Conditions:
"Users are responsible for archiving information that can be accessed via eBay services and stored by eBay, which they need for the purposes of preserving evidence, accounting, or for other purposes, on a storage medium independent of eBay."
We therefore recommend saving the item descriptions and other details needed for your tax return in the future. In general, transactions in Seller Cockpit Pro can be retrieved for up to 2 years; the last invoice before the switch to eBay payment processing is from May 2021. You can also download your transaction reports, or you already have access to your billing reports. For everything that was before the switch to payment processing, the eBay invoices will also help you, as a sales commission was charged for sales (= revenue).
Kind regards
Miriam

·3 years agoB2C invoice in an EU country with OSS procedure and correct VAT on eBay not possible?
Hello,
Does eBay offer the option (in hidden settings or similar) for invoices to private customers in EU countries to show the correct VAT?
As a commercial seller, I sell via eBay to private customers in various EU countries (B2C).
For these distance sales, from 01/07/2021 onward, taxation applies in the destination country once a total value of €10,000 is reached.
With or without using the One-Stop-Shop (OSS) procedure, I MUST therefore show the VAT correctly on the invoice, not just myself, i.e. the VAT valid in the respective country, e.g. 20% in France or 25% in Denmark.
In the invoice generated via eBay, ONLY the (German) tax rate of 19% is ALWAYS shown, which is not legally compliant.
Thanks for the support.

Hello @polymet-de ,
I already had your topic open: B2C invoice in EU country with OSS procedure and correct VAT at Ebay not possible? and would be happy to reply to you there after the question hour, if that's okay with you 😉
Best regards

·3 years agoLately I keep getting “kicked out” of the community. That means I get some message saying it couldn’t be verified and suddenly I’m offline. After clicking the weird cone at the top right, I’m back online and can post. Browser Chrome and everything else is obviously not offline. What’s the problem?
steffi@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, that kind of behavior shouldn’t happen. Could you possibly send me a screenshot of the "cone" and do you go back online right away, or do you also have to log back into the community? Thanks a lot 🙂.
perfect-sally
·3 years agoHello @steffi@ebay
no, I don't have a screenshot right now. But it happens often and the message always says: The requested operation could not be completed and then
authentication failed.
steffi@ebay
that's fine like that @perfect-sally. How often does it happen and which version of Chrome are you using? Then I can pass this on to Khoros as a ticket with the data 😉.

And it happens several times a day, I haven't counted yet but I think like 7-8 times.
And just now, as I was writing the reply, again 😞
steffi@ebay
Thanks! Really annoying! I’m going straight to create the ticket with Khoros so they can take a look, and then I’ll get back to you as soon as I have an answer!
steffi@ebay
one more question @perfect-sally, are you back online right away then or do you also have to log into the community?

·3 years agoWith a click on the cone, everything is back to the way it was before. I don't have to log in somewhere again separately.

·3 years agoSubject: no fees for private sellers
Ebay has really done something great again, which I consider a serious slap in the face to all commercial sellers!!!
Among other things, ebay also writes: „And that also means higher sales opportunities for our commercial merchants.“
How is that supposed to be understood? So if private sellers can list for free and pay no fees at all, how on earth are commercial sellers supposed to benefit from that? Does ebay really think that if a lot of private-commercial sellers pop up again now, customers will buy more from commercial sellers too? A great joke. And when will ebay do something useful for commercial sellers again? Haven't seen any promotions for ages!
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally and sorry that you feel that way. We are convinced that the variety of offerings on ebay.de increases the attractiveness of the marketplace. This also increases sales opportunities for commercial sellers, because consumers who sell on eBay.de often also buy directly on the platform, and therefore also from commercial sellers.
Merchants who sell commercially on the marketplace enjoy a special status at eBay. Through a wide range of offers and programs, they receive targeted support that goes beyond the normal selling activity of private sellers. The fees allow us to continue ensuring special services so that eBay can continue to provide full service for merchants in the future. In addition, eBay offers coupon and discount promotions as well as marketing that promotes the offers of commercial sellers.
During registration, new eBay users provide information about their seller status as private or commercial. At that time, eBay is not able to verify the accuracy of this information. Each eBay member is responsible for observing the applicable legal rules (for example in consumer protection or tax law). However, eBay uses certain mechanisms to detect and sanction violations of the rules on its marketplace. In addition, eBay cooperates with the tax authorities within the scope of its legal obligations and in compliance with data protection rules. The newly introduced reporting obligations for online platforms under the PStTG also create additional transparency.

Hello @mr.snackerito and congratulations on selling your item without any selling fee incurred! 🙂
There are several reasons why we sometimes hold amounts for different transaction types. For certain high-priced items, we want to make sure buyers have enough time to receive and inspect the item before the money becomes available. This helps ensure that no problems arise with the transaction.
This additional time during which we hold the payment also protects you if you may need to issue the buyer a refund or accept a return. This prevents eBay, the stored refund method, or payment method from being charged, since we already have access to the held amounts.
We see that you continue to be critical of longer payment holds, and we keep passing along your feedback so that in future there may be improvements for long-standing, trusted sellers like you 🙂.
Kind regards
Miriam
