💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 02/04/2025 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team .
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to ask your (please not topics already posted by other members) general buying or selling questions here.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask that you choose one question per post. Of course, you’re welcome to write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we’d encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will still continue to make sure all questions that may remain unanswered are answered – please give us a little time for that, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click “Reply” between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later in chronological order and therefore further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is separate and solely for individual members' questions only and not for starting discussions - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you asked your question directly in the Community, or simply waited until the next Q&A session.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team & Community Support Team

·1 year agoHello, last week and before that it was claimed here that reports are taken »seriously«, but the seller in the example (see below) can nevertheless quite obviously continue to offer duplicate uniques despite the multiple verbal and written reports made weeks ago. No decision has been made on the three written reports either, up to now:
But why? Is the antiquarian really allowed to list uniques multiple times? That would mean that with two successful bids, the unique item would essentially have to be split between two buyers.
Thanks.
A second annoying thing: a seller had offered a cat. Removed immediately after the report. Two hours later, the same cat was back online in two listings from the same seller. Why isn’t that blocked right away? Otherwise one has to report endlessly.
A third annoying thing that allegedly does not constitute a fundamental violation:
Luigi Retro/Vintage Fahrrad Active Comfort. Has absolutely nothing to do with the famous Luigi Colani, but only with the virtually unknown Odo Klose, as the Deutsches Museum, for example, proves see https://digital.deutsches-museum.de/de/digital-catalogue/collection- object/2007-93/ So this is a misleading claim by the seller that adds value, which unnecessarily still leads to false search results. Even a screenshot was submitted with the appeal.
A fourth: item title: »Sold (no longer available)«. Report text from February in each case: »As the seller confirmed via eBay message: Not deliverable, but still payable, however would not be collectible, regularly manipulates user searches, is not intended on eBay, consumes server capacity and energy …«. Has not been removed to date because supposedly no violation! Once again: that would mean that one may upload the offer, which is not an offer, millions of times.

Hello @olavgo13eba!
on point 1) Yes, I can understand that this member’s approach leads to a negative usage experience for you and that you find it annoying when offers are shown twice in your search results.
Nevertheless, I would like to point out that there are indeed offers that, due to their urgency and potential impact on our platform, require a higher priority from our teams. We strive to find a balance in order to address all concerns. My suggestion to you: Have you ever thought about writing to the specific seller via eBay messages and asking why it was listed twice here? Maybe that wasn’t intentional at all?
on point 2) Repeated violations of our principles can have more far-reaching consequences for an eBay account.
on point 3) *& 4) We’ll look at your reports today and check whether a different decision should have been made. Thanks for the heads-up!
Kind regards

·1 year agoThen I do have one more question.
How does the seller protection work with basic tracking for items under €20, when the shipment
1. doesn’t show any scan at all
2. is no longer updated while in transit
I’ve noticed that the scans are very unreliable and I often get feedback about receipt, and everything matches even though the shipment was never marked as delivered according to tracking. What would happen if a case for non-receipt were opened here?
I lost a case for a shipment to Greece because there was no tracking at all. The label couldn’t be bought via eBay, but let’s assume it had been possible. How would the case have turned out if there still had been no status available?
miriam@ebay
Hello again, @itec-systems! It is true that shipping labels for shipping to Greece unfortunately cannot currently be purchased via eBay, and an adjustment in this regard is in progress.
Our customer service reviews each individual case, and the following criteria are important for us in order to benefit from the eBay seller protection for Deutsche Post Internet stamps with matrix code:
I’ll take this feedback with me as well and share it with our shipping team.
Thanks and kind regards

·1 year agoThe criteria are of course known to me, but if
it is not possible because of a technical error at eBay, I think it is unfair to hold the seller responsible for that. eBay should show the seller enough goodwill here and cover the damage. There really isn’t anything else that can be done anyway, and you still have proof of the address and postage at the post office.
miriam@ebay
Thanks for the feedback, @itec-systems! We will check the extent to which we can support in this specific case, and I will update my response here as soon as a decision has been made.
It would help if you could please send me the affected order number via PM as an exception. Thanks!
Update 07/04/2025: Since I have not yet received a PM from you about this, we have not been able to look into it any further so far.
Kind regards
Miriam

·1 year agoNo question, just want to voice my frustration again.
Since eBay still shows the buyer incorrect delivery notifications even though the shipment, according to tracking, has actually not been delivered yet, 2 buyers have opened a case for item not received precisely because of that.
Because of such a *swear word* I am supposedly already above average in the statistics. It is simply outrageous to interpret something like this against the seller. On top of that, I really cannot imagine that I am being compared to the right peer group! In this peer group, not even ONE such case should occur within the period!
miriam@ebay
Hello @itec-systems and thanks for your participation today! You’re shipping here again with *correction letters with matrix code, and we see your criticism, which is already known to us. At the moment, we don’t have a better way to display this differently.
I just discussed your request with the responsible team, hence my slightly delayed reply. We are checking to what extent we can make improvements.
Kind regards
Miriam

·1 year agoNo, I don't ship with Prio letter. It doesn't even exist anymore. Just the regular way by letter, which also has seller protection. It's standard practice not to ship by parcel when the item value is low.
It's not just about the criticism of the unjustified "statistics" but also about the fact that eBay doesn't display tracking in sync with the postal service for certain shipment types.
Thanks for passing it on.
