Hello everyone and ❤️-ly welcome to today’s eBay Q&A session!
Since we haven’t prepared a specific topic this week, we warmly invite you to post your general questions here about buying and selling on eBay.
❗ Please make sure not to duplicate topics that already exist from other members. Check beforehand whether your question has already been asked.
🛠️ How the Q&A session works:
➤ One question per post
Please always ask only one question per post.
You can, however, post multiple entries with different questions – that is expressly welcome!

“I’m still waiting for a reply”
“My question hasn’t been answered yet”
as a new post.
We want to keep communication clear and ask you to always stay in the existing thread so that no duplicate conversations are created.
➤ Q&A session time
⏰ The Q&A session is always open from 14:00 to 15:00.
After that, it will be closed for new questions.
Of course, we will continue answering all open questions. Please understand that it may take some time – especially when we need to involve colleagues for clarification in order to give you the best possible answer.

·8 months agoHello everyone,
I have a question that came up for me from a buyer in October for a sale, and I was only able to answer it partially.
As usual, the sales tax was charged directly to the buyer for the item sold.
According to his emails, however, he had to pay sales tax again when he received the item; it was not customs duties, and I specifically asked about that.
I then pointed out to him that he should claim the sales tax back from eBay. He did not want to or could not do that, because the mail carrier supposedly did not issue a receipt.
My question now is: if eBay charges the buyer sales tax and invoices it, what exactly happens then?
Does eBay remit the sales tax directly after the buyer's payment is received, or is there a fixed payment date, e.g. 2 days after the buyer's payment?
As a seller, can I trace and monitor the remittance of the sales tax to the recipient's country?
steffi@ebay
Hello @murmu67, thank you very much for your question! 😊eBay remits the VAT (MwSt.) directly itself, since we are liable for tax on these transactions. 💶 That means: eBay automatically collects the tax from thebuyer and remits it to the relevant tax office.
👉 Important for you:
Please make sure that you always clearly attach the tax details you find under the shipping address (in the sales process) to the shipment. This is necessary so that customs or tax authorities can correctly assign the delivery. 📦✉️
You cannot trace or control the actual remittance of VAT to the country of therecipient yourself, as this is a tax transaction handled by eBay. Of course, you will receive documentation showing that eBay collected the VAT. 🧾

·8 months agoI have received a case for item not received.
Order number21-13596-88602
Paid and shipped on 23.09 and basic tracking starts and ends on 25.09
Seller protection doesn't apply here anyway because the shipment is to Iceland, right?
What puzzles me, though, is how can a buyer even open the case after such a long time? That should only be possible up to 30 days after the displayed delivery date:
Shipped on 23 Sep

Hello @itec-systems,
thank you very much for your question.
Here, the resolution phase is still ongoing until 04/12. Intervention can only take place from 5/12. The colleagues at eBay.com are responsible here.
Since the purchase was some time ago, buyer protection should no longer be available at eBay.com either.
eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
We'd be happy to clarify internally how the case was opened after the 30-day deadline.
Best regards
Selina

·8 months agoHello, last week I pointed this out and afterward I was told that the issue will be removed. Unfortunately, it still appears in the Refurbished statistics.
miriam@ebay
Hallo @itec-systems!
Miriam

·8 months agoHi Miriam,
but from which "list" is the defect then deleted? Then it wouldn’t really matter at all, whether it’s noted somewhere or not?
I’ve discussed this topic with Patrick from time to time, that’s true. But I was also told that the payout block I had since June couldn’t be affected, and then somehow it did work out after all. That’s why I keep asking from time to time how it stands with the "statistics" now. Since here, just one wrong entry already turns a status red, which is the biggest nonsense and completely unjustified....
Since it’s apparently a system error (Ebay accesses the wrong shipment) something like that should be all the more removable manually, because the protective measures apparently are about as reliable as the rest of Ebay AI.
Best regards
Simon

Hello @itec-systems - this is a global decision to handle it this way in the Refurbished statistics. We hear your criticism, and I will bring it up internally once again, but I don’t want to give you any false hope, as our previous efforts in this direction have not been successful so far.
Kind regards

·8 months agoHello dear @community-team@ebay
I had the following case a few days ago. Someone from Poland wrote to me asking whether they could also pay cash on delivery. I wrote that in my opinion this wasn't possible, since everything has to go through eBay's payment system.
Shortly after that, the customer nevertheless bought the model and then canceled the purchase a short time later..
Isn't it possible to handle something like this cash on delivery
I also got an email saying that he had always done it that way before.
Kind regards
Marc
miriam@ebay
Hello @mmstore74! You answered correctly, and please always use only the payment methods shown in the checkout process so that you are also covered by eBay Buyer Protection. At present, payment by cash on delivery is not provided as a payment option on eBay.
Here is the Polish help page with the currently available payment methods.
Kind regards

·8 months agoHello @miriam@ebay and many thanks.
If I may, I have one more thing, about which the two of us have already written a few times, and I should get back to you again when it happens again.
my HTML content has disappeared again from many articles.
I always put a lot of effort into setting up the pages, and it's always frustrating when part of it goes missing again.
It should look like this....
....and this is how it partly looks again.
Kind regards
Marc
miriam@ebay
Hello @mmstore74! I can see it on 227111225376 - since when have you noticed this? You haven't changed anything about the HTML in this listing recently, right?
Kind regards
Miriam
mmstore74
·8 months ago@miriam@ebay no, I haven't changed anything, and it's been like that for quite a long time, every now and then.
Unfortunately, I can't find the post where we already wrote about it.
Does something like this also affect the visibility of the listings?
Kind regards
Marc
miriam@ebay
I remember, @mmstore74. This is all very vague and hard to understand. It should not have any impact on the visibility of your listings. Could you try setting up the HTML code again for the example listing mentioned and storing it? If that still doesn't work, feel free to open a new topic about it again.
Best regards
Miriam
