💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 04/10/2023 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a special topic this week, please don't hesitate to post your general buying or selling questions here.
Feel free to also send @steffi@ebay topics that should get a whole Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask that you choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 15:00. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure that all questions are answered that may still be unanswered – please give us some time for this, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 14:00 and 15:00.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoGood day,
my question is when they will finally, when entering package tracking data,
put an end to the chaos squared that you experience here when entering the data compared with the main competitor.
1. Almost everyone has just one parcel service. Why do you have to enter the same name, DHL, DPD, GLS etc. etc., every time in the
Service column for e.g. 30 items instead of being able to select one
parcel service above once for all in advance.
For delivery by other services, you can simply exclude these items from the preselection.
2. If someone orders e.g. 10 items, I have to enter the same parcel number 10 times, even when shipping in one parcel.
And to top it off, it says at the end of the line too: (add more). Does that mean you can also tear an item apart and send it in 2 parcels?
3. For the ordered and paid items, there is a sequence by purchase date and receipt of payment.
This is completely discarded when displaying the tracking table, which also cannot be sorted by any criterion.
Instead, you have to search up and down the table for your sequential numbers.
This whole thing is a madhouse and no one with even remotely logical understanding is taking care of this at eBay.
Something that is done in no time at A. costs eBay many times more time in some cases.
Dear eBay team, there are plenty of sellers who did not stop selling on eBay because sales declined,
but because the effort involved is many times greater than with the competition.
And the nonsense that sellers are the focus can no longer be endured in view of the inflexibility and lack of goodwill when problems arise.
I now ask for a reply to this objection to the badly made and to-be-redesigned
package tracking data entry.
The rest is anyway just falling on deaf ears.
Thank you

@posterhit03 I apologize for the delayed response, but I wanted to wait for the upcoming update or change before sharing the steps to simplify the multiple entry of the tracking number or shipment number.
You can read the most important points here for processing shipment numbers via file upload:
Reports in Seller Cockpit Pro | eBay
Log in to VCP
Navigate to Reports/Uploads: Select template as described on the page:
Download template -> select template source -> Orders -> select template type -> add tracking and shipping info
DOWNLOAD
Then you can simply fill out the template with the shipping data and upload it.
This data will then be included in the respective orders.
Note that the automatic assignment of the shipping information to the correct order only takes place if the label is bought on eBay, or if a software tool such as JTL is used.
If you still have questions about this, feel free to start here a new thread with reference to this post.

Hello @posterhit03! Feedback like this is very important to us, because you are showing us something here that makes processing your orders more cumbersome than it needs to be.
I will then prepare your points of criticism and pass them on to the people responsible for shipping at eBay.de. To what extent an improvement or change to this display can be made depends on several internal factors, and I don't want to promise too much for the near future, but I will point out your disappointment with using the package tracking data entry.
Thanks for using eBay and for sharing your thoughts with us here in the community! 🙂
Kind regards
Miriam

·3 years agoHello. eBay requested confirmation of my bank account from me. I sent all the required documents and have been waiting for the review for more than 7 days already. Is there any way to speed up the process?

we will ask around for you and may get back to you here if we find anything out.

·3 years agoHello @miriam@ebay
I always wonder why you always get the response from the Ebay employees that you need to place ads to increase your visibility when you bring up the drastic drops in sales.
What good does it do you if, as a commercial seller, you place expensive ads, but they are not shown on the search pages (it always says " Ad " underneath) and you still end up being found behind private sellers—what sense does that make?
So I'm supposed to increase my visibility through ads, but then I'm worse off than if I didn't place any ads at all, and instead of improving visibility, I've made it worse.
So I would really appreciate it if someone from Ebay could explain this plausibly here, and especially how you can 100% verify whether and why an item was sold through an ad, because as far as I know, that's not something you can check at 100% at all, right?
miriam@ebay
Hello @hondacrx0_3! We already noticed your post in the discussion forum earlier and had already planned to reply to you anyway. I’ll get things started here, but we may also chime in again in your topic, since some things should be clarified here.
For one thing, at eBay we distinguish between Ads Standard and Ads Advanced. These are two different models and the billing works differently too - I’m spelling this out so precisely because, based on your comments, I can’t tell to what extent you’re familiar with the differences:
As a rule, it’s not a good idea to test the effect of ads through your own eBay account. Our algorithm knows which target audience your listings should be shown to, and in your Advertising Cockpit you can track how the ads are performing and how running them affects your page views. There are several factors that affect an increase or decrease in the visibility of your ads and the associated clicks or sales.
If you advertise with Ads Standard, the ad strategy is to target coverage across the entire site. That means the promoted listings are shown in search results, on product pages, and on the homepage. Ads Advanced listings are given preference for top placements in search results, and you can also run both ad models in parallel to compare what performs better for you.
You’ll also see a note in your Seller Cockpit Pro when one of your items was sold through an ad. I suggest that you feel free to tag me in the topic if there are still questions and you need further information from eBay 🙂. Using our advertising options is voluntary.
Kind regards
Miriam

·3 years agoHi!
Why are more and more filters and search functions being removed?
It is no longer possible for me to search for specific auctions in a category without complex detours, since I can no longer have listings that end soon shown to me up to a price limit I set myself. Condition and item location are also very important, among other things. The list of items that is now shown to me in a category is very confusing and has no connection to my needs whatsoever. I get the feeling that a sales strategy here, which seems questionable to me, is backfiring and that usability is suffering significantly.
Regards and many thanks in advance!
miriam@ebay
Hello @bob-208 and thanks for bringing this up! We are continuously working to adjust and optimize the filters. While too many filter options and search possibilities can make it hard to keep track, too few filters can mean that you can’t pre-sort the relevant offers accordingly. I know this from personal experience and know that eBay internally carries out regular tests to examine and improve the user experience in this regard.
Your feedback is important to us, and I will pass on your request for additional filter options for sorting "Ending Soonest", which is mainly intended for auctions, in the Computer Components category, thanks for that! 🙂
Best regards
Miriam

·3 years agoA wide range of filters is of course also very important for listings with "Buy It Now". With similar items whose prices can range from €1 to €10,000, a preset price range like "from €52" is of no use. Likewise, you should also be able to specifically search for defective devices, etc.
Thank you for the quick and friendly response to my criticism!
