Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 05/02/2025 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team .
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to ask your (please not topics already posted by other members) general buying or selling questions here.
To help us answer your questions faster, please choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we'd love that!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure we answer all questions that may still be unanswered - please give us a little time for that, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To publish your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is separate and solely for individual members' questions only and not for starting discussions - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we'd be happy if you posted your question directly in the community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team & Community Support Team

·1 year agoSorry, one more question 😄
How is it that when doing general searches, shops are shown first right away? Like here, Fanxiang Brand Store.
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems ,
just click on "Ads" — that’s simply "advertising"
Best regards
Patrick

·1 year agoAnd all good questions come in threes:
How does eBay currently handle listings without GSPR data? I usually don’t fall under the obligation, but I’m worried about how this affects my ranking in the search results.
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems ,
We can’t share information about such process workflows with you, logically.
eBay can remove listings without complete GSPR data in order to meet legal requirements. To avoid this, you should make sure that all required product information in your listings is correct and complete. But eBay would contact you about it either way if it came to that.
Best regards
Patrick

·1 year agoOne more thing: In the app, there isn’t a tab to manage returns or issue refunds for returns. Or am I just not finding it?
steffi@ebay
Hello @itec-systems, I need to check myself, since as a private seller I haven't had a return yet. As soon as I have the answer, I'll write it here for you. May I also ask which version of the eBay app you're using and whether it's iOS or Android?
itec-systems
·1 year agoThe current iOS version. But it was never possible.
steffi@ebay
Thank you very much 👍 @itec-systems
@itec-systems I still owe you an answer: There isn't yet an overview of returns & refunds, like we have on dWeb, for the eBay app. But of course you can initiate a refund.

·1 year agoHi,
For shipments to Switzerland, shipping labels cannot be printed via eBay.
If that's not possible and I do it via the postal service website, and I add the tracking number for basic shipment tracking, does seller protection still apply? The selling price is under €20.
sonja@ebay
·1 year agoHello @itec-systems , the requirement for eBay seller protection is that the shipping label (letter with basic shipment tracking) is purchased on our eBay shipping platform.
Kind regards, Sonja
itec-systems
·1 year agoYeah, and what if Ebay doesn’t make that possible when shipping to Switzerland? I can’t help that...
sonja@ebay
·1 year ago@itec-systems , I’d be happy to take your post as feedback and pass it on. I can’t tell you at this point whether or when a change will take place.
Kind regards, Sonja

·1 year agoEBAY BANS LINKS TO WIKI AND MANUFACTURER
Up until now I had decorated all my listings with informative links to Wikipedia and/or the manufacturer, and that was always fine with eBay too...
Even at the beginning of the year everything was perfectly fine. When I relisted them last week, they suddenly started complaining about “circumventing fees” blah blah (NB: runs privately).
Support then said it was because of the links. That was actually true... GRRR!
1. What’s the point of this nonsense anyway? (by the way, the competition does it better)
1b. And why is this only being cracked down on now?
2. Why isn’t this pointed out when creating the listing, but only after the listing is live.
3. AND WHERE ARE ANY MANUFACTURER LINKS SUPPOSED TO GO?
patrick@ebay
Hello @de3trader ,
Policy on the use of links on eBay item pages
2. The filter / system will not check your template in advance.
3. You can use the relevant fields for/on product safety.
Best regards

·1 year agoThere's still something missing:
1. What’s this nonsense supposed to be anyway? (the competition does it better, by the way)
And as for your answer: That’s not very helpful,...
a. because I don’t feel like uploading individual ones to your ill-conceived system (DoC is listed twice).
b. it doesn’t even allow any links (so once again, the question wasn’t understood)
PS: I would again ask that my questions be read with the appropriate care.
patrick@ebay
Hello @de3trader ,
1. Then it simply went through and you were lucky. Now it’s being recognized or adjustments have been made, which is now picking it up - generally, as always > Policy on the use of links on eBay item pages
..the use of external links "is" not permitted, even if they are not clickable.
a. see 1.
b. see 1. and the policy page.
PS: Just leave out the links, then you won’t have the problems either. You were offered an alternative for referring to manufacturers.
Best regards
Patrick
