💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 05/03/2025 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️ welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team .
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to ask your (please not topics already posted by other members) general buying or selling questions here.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask that you chooseone questionper post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session remains open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure that all questions that may still be unanswered are answered - please give us some time for this, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, in which all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective response. This quote and the response appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the format of the discussion forum, the Q&A session is separate and on its own only for individual members' questions and not to start a discussion - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you post your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team & Community Support Team

·1 year agoNow the old geezer has a question too. 🙄
Why is it allowed to offer food with an expired best-before date.
"We have reviewed your report and have determined that the listing does not violate our principles."
Best-before date expired 07/24 for a product made on a milk basis.
Has anyone ever seen expired chocolate? It isn't brown, it's white.
For a bit of mental imagery, I also have expired ground meat, so that would be okay too?

Hello @oskar_der_wikinger and thanks for your question! Our food policy says that products whose expiry date has passed are not permitted on eBay.
We'd be happy to look into your report again and check why this wasn't removed here. May I ask which reporting reason you used and whether a note was added? I assume you're already using the new reporting process via the question mark at the end of the listing page?
Update 06.03.2025: The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture explains that the best-before date is not a discard date, but indicates until when a food retains its properties. After the best-before date has passed, food is often still edible if stored properly, unlike the use-by date, which applies to perishable foods. In the items mentioned, the best-before date is even stated in the title, so there would also be no case here for any possible deception. For this reason, the listings you reported were not ended, and that is also in line with our policies.
PS: Chocolate turns white due to fat bloom and not because the best-before date has expired, but it is still edible.
Kind regards
Miriam

·1 year agoHello,
Why can’t I see all my purchases in the “Purchases” view?
For example, I can’t see this purchase:
Item number: 124146217353
Order number: 27-04867-89656
Purchase confirmation date: 19.04.2020.
Item: Matchbox Lesney Superfast, No. 37, Cattle ...

·1 year agoHello @horjan70
glad you’re here.
When I open your purchase overview and click the filter for 2020, I find the item by entering the order number in the search field.
Does that work for you too?
Kind regards
Samantha
