Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 05/06/2024 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please don't hesitate to ask your (general buying or selling questions only, please no topics already posted by other members) here.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask that you choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - we actually encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to work on answering any questions that may still be unanswered – please give us a little time for this, as we often then have to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The eBay Q&A session format mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is individual and alone only for questions from individual members and not to start a discussion - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·2 years agoHello ebay team
a buyer wants me to ship only in 2 weeks, however if I only ship in 2 weeks, I get "points deducted" from ebay in the top rating because it was shipped too late,
how can I make sure that this doesn't have a negative effect on the rating?
many thanks
best regards steffi

·2 years agoHello everyone,
I list items through the normal listing tool. I use “Sell similar item” for that.
Up until now, the listing tool started at the beginning of the item, at the images. That way it could be processed quickly from “top to bottom”.
For some time now, the starting point has been the item description. So right in the middle. But I have to change the title first, then the images, and only then the description. It has turned into scrolling up and down, which also wastes time and is prone to errors.
Bug (on my side), or intended behavior — can you set it back to the original state with the start at the images?

Hello @rest-fest
I was just able to reproduce exactly that and will have it checked out.
Thanks a lot for your tip.

·2 years agoHello dear @community-team@ebay ,
my question today is: is it possible to change a normal fixed-price listing with a very good history into a listing with variants, or would I need to create a completely new listing for that and start from scratch again?
steffi@ebay
Hello @mmstore74, I'd be happy to find that out for you and let you know here.

·2 years agoHello everyone, I’ve only sold items in Germany so far and am now planning to offer shipping internationally as well, for example to the Netherlands. Will my item then also be promoted on the Dutch eBay platform (eBay.nl) with my existing marketing campaigns and the budget set aside for that?
If that is not the case, how can I make sure that my marketing budget is used on eBay.nl?
Thanks in advance!
miriam@ebay
Hello @elsinghorststahlundtechnikgmbh and thanks for your question! In fact, you would then have to set up appropriate marketing campaigns on the eBay.nl website so that your listings are also advertised there 🙂.
Additional note: on our help page: Promoted Listings Standard it says that as well.
Best regards
Miriam

·2 years agoHello @community-team@ebay @miriam@ebay ,
Has anyone ever thought about setting up a disclaimer so that it might appear separately under the section " Shipping, returns and payments".
I would find a separate section even better.
I would really welcome a solution, if only because there are more and more buyers who don't understand that goods sold and shipped from one country to another still have additional costs such as customs and import fees to pay.
I am not based in an EU country, however I use Ebay.de.
To counteract the problem, I always include the disclaimer in the listing, but it is longer than the item description.
In my experience, the problems with buyers are a Europe problem, because when I ship goods to the rest of the world, I don't have such additional-cost problems with the buyers.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here with us, @murmu67. I see your suggestion as very valuable and will do my best to bring it up internally accordingly. In many cases, you can already tell whether customs fees will apply from the item location, but we can only say after a won auction whether additional fees will be incurred, since the shipping address can still be changed during checkout.
I’ll look into it; if there’s anything else to add, I’ll get back to you again.
Kind regards
Miriam

·2 years agoHello @miriam@ebay ,
Thanks for carrying this suggestion forward.
A simple disclaimer would be enough.
Additional costs only arise when the goods import threshold is reached, depending on the country and at different amounts. In my listings I have tried to describe this and ask buyers before placing bids to check with the import authority of the country if necessary.
Anyone can and may take a look at it 😉
The VAT for the respective country is already charged to the buyer by you. A service I really appreciate.
Thanks, and until next time in the Q&A.
