💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 11/01/23 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You're also welcome to send me topics you'd like to see covered in a full Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you're welcome to write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure that all questions are answered, even those that may still be unanswered - please allow us a little time for this, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The eBay Q&A session format reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later chronologically and thus further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you posted your question directly in the community or simply waited for the next Q&A session*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoHello,
I bought an item with the payment method: cash on pickup in an eBay shop.
That made sense since the seller only ships regionally and I’m often in that area for work.
eBay then also sent me a pickup code so I could complete the purchase properly.
When I asked when, how, and where I could pick up and pay for the item, I got the
reply: Please pay for the item through the eBay portal.
Once payment has been received, a pickup appointment can be arranged.
Aside from the fact that you shouldn’t offer a payment method if you don’t accept it,
I now have the problem of how to change the payment method afterward?
Thank you very much and best regards,
Gerald
miriam@ebay
Hello @ghost-29! In this situation, payment is only possible in cash on pickup, and you can only mark the item as "paid" in the eBay system, but you can no longer go through the eBay payment process.
The only option, if you can’t agree, would be to cancel the purchase and buy the desired item again, including payment through eBay’s payment processing. We will credit the selling fee to your counterpart in such cases.
Best regards

·3 years agoI had asked for my CO2 account to be deleted immediately.
Unfortunately, that still hasn't happened.
This is not based on scientific data, but only on a stupidly manufactured agenda.
Anyone who paid attention in biology will see it the same way.
Otherwise, I ask ebay and all the other clueless people to engage with the topic of CO2, plants, light, chlorophyll, and O2 = oxygen!
Once again, please delete this CO2 immediately, whatever it's supposed to represent!
Best regards
miriam@ebay
Hello @limo741 and it's great that you're joining in our Q&A today. We have taken note that you would like the CO₂ account to be deleted and will pass your feedback on internally once again. As soon as there are any updates, the responsible team will contact you directly.
The displayed CO₂ emissions are based on eBay purchases from the last 12 months, and the methodology of the calculation model follows established and scientifically proven methods. The emissions of each product category were calculated on the basis of an average product.
The amount for CO₂ offsetting is calculated by our external partner South Pole and can be booked as an "add-on" to an item (like product protection or tire fitting).
A contract is only formed when an order is placed using the add-on function provided on eBay. Without a purchase, no data is transferred either.
Kind regards
Miriam

·3 years agoHello,
how serious is the company, to which one can send money for the CO² offset?
miriam@ebay
Hello @voli-maus! About South Pole and their certified climate protection projects according to internationally recognized standards, you can also find information here, among other places: CO₂ offsetting at eBay. Frequently asked questions are answered at the end of the page 🙂.

·3 years agoHello 🙂
Since the topic “Platforms Tax Transparency Act” is currently raising many questions in the Ebay Community, I’d like to ask a few questions myself. I know that you’re only supposed to ask one question, but since it’s about the same topic, I’ll ask three 🙂
Thanks in advance for your information 🙂
patrick@ebay
Hello @supermariofan22 ,
Canceled transactions or returns are not included in the legally defined revenue threshold. This law change does not change the restrictions on your selling activities. In principle, sellers can sell as much as they want, but once they reach the thresholds specified by the PStTG, the digital platform must ask for their tax ID and pass on information about them and their sales to the tax authorities.

·3 years agoHello Patrick,
thank you very much for the feedback. Maybe you can also give me some information regarding question number 2.
So if I’m reading it correctly, it will be the case that eBay will get in touch as soon as your account has reached one of the two threshold values, and only then will the tax ID be requested and the data passed on? Before reaching the thresholds, you don’t have to provide the ID at all?
Best regards
patrick@ebay
Hello @supermariofan22 ,
exactly as I wrote it, nothing will happen or be done beforehand. Regarding question 2: the amount can of course differ, which ultimately is what gets reported. For example, fees are also deducted from the total sales volume, as well as refunds and VAT, etc. Shipping is added to the sale amount anyway, or paid by the buyer.
Best regards

·3 years agoHello,
First of all, many thanks for the Q&A session!
I am a commercial seller on eBay.
What is the best way to proceed in the following case:
- An interested party contacts me via direct message and asks about a special version of the product. For example, they would like an embroidered heart on the product instead of an embroidered flower.
- I reply to the customer that this would be a custom-made item with a minimum order quantity and also name a price.
- The customer now wants to order this
So how do I sell this custom-made item to the customer (and only this customer) on eBay?
As soon as I list an item, it is publicly visible to all other eBay customers.
Thanks very much and best regards,
André
miriam@ebay
Hello @cibber and thank you for your question! You could list the offer, send the customer the item number directly (Buy It Now, quantity X) or send a price suggestion to this bidding person so that it can then also be accepted.
I will take your feedback on the topic of custom orders with me and share it internally at the next opportunity 👍.
Kind regards
Miriam
