·5 months agoHello everyone,
I have a question about selling items within the country.
Why does eBay charge sales tax when the item stays within the same country?
That doesn’t make sense to me, because the item location is the same as the seller location and the recipient location.
The item has already been cleared by customs, import duty and VAT have already been paid, it has been settled under tax law, and it remains in the same country.
Or does eBay work differently?
For example, like this:
A model kit comes into Switzerland, costs 50€ from the manufacturer, for example, plus 8.1% VAT = 54.05€ plus import duty, in this case no fees because the total value of the item incl. VAT does not reach the customs exemption limit of 150€, so for the recipient it is 54.05€
Now I sell the kit on eBay for 54.05€.
A buyer in Switzerland wins the auction or the buy-it-now.
Now eBay adds VAT on top of that, that can’t be right!
The legal text says:
eBay isn’t delivering anything though, I am as the seller in Switzerland to a customer in Switzerland.
What happens if I list the item on the eBay platform for Switzerland?
Does eBay charge VAT there again too?

Hello @murmu67, thank you very much for your question. Since January 1, 2025, marketplaces such as eBay must collect and remit value-added tax (VAT) on goods imported into Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Büsingen, as well as on domestic transactions in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Büsingen. The following transactions are affected:
Since it always depends on the delivery, it does not matter on which eBay site an item was listed. Because the tax liability lies with eBay here, it is also irrelevant how the item was acquired by the selling user.
You can find further information at https://www.ebay.ch/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/steuern-und-einfuhrgebhren?id=4121.
You are also welcome to contact the Swiss Federal Tax Administration FTA or a tax advisor.

·5 months agoHello dear eBay team,
I have a question regarding "product reviews": Some sellers have (one or more) "product reviews" directly below the title in their listings. How do you get those as a seller? I have several hundred SELLER reviews, but not a single PRODUCT review. Do I need to activate some function for this in the seller cockpit or how does that work?
Many thanks in advance for your reply.
selina_b@ebay
Hello @thermalhero-store,
thank you very much for your question.
If your product can be assigned to an existing product in the eBay product catalog, a review can be written for this product. For some listings with multiple variants, a review can be written provided the MSKU is linked to an EPID. For listings that refer to a product, product reviews can be written.
Best wishes
Selina

·5 months agoI noticed in mid-February that in the search results you could always switch directly between 2 product images. That was the case across all offers.
The nice thing was that this was even consistent both on desktop and in the app, and there were also nice indicators showing that switching to image 2 was possible directly in the search results: in the middle of the image there were 2 dots at the bottom. If you were on image 1, the left one was filled in and the right one was a circle; if you were on image 2, it was the other way around. In the app, switching worked by swiping, on desktop there were arrows on the left and right of the images.
I thought that was great, but it was only like that for a few days and then it was rolled back again. Will it come back? Maybe someone from the team could check in with the relevant department about this.
Thanks!

Hello @schrauben-seidel ,
this could also be a test, e.g. here https://www.ebay.de/b/Laptops-Notebooks/175672/bn_1618754 you should still find the display where the images can be clicked through using the arrows.
Best regards

·5 months agoHello dear @community-team@ebay
I’ve recently noticed that DHL’s delivery time is almost always delayed by 2 days
(delivery date was postponed), is anything known about this?
Example see attachment:
Kind regards
Marc

Hello @mmstore74 - Thanks already for the screenshot you provided. We can't answer that in general, but at first glance it looks as though DHL delayed the delivery, which is beyond our control.
Update 12.03.2026 - What we can say so far: It looks as though the estimated delivery date was updated during shipping. If the adjustment is made on our side, the date is generally recalculated accordingly. In some cases, tracking information is not yet visible to users, but is already being transmitted via the interface (API) to our systems and processed there.
Kind regards
Miriam

·5 months agoHello @miriam@ebay ,yes unfortunately you can't insert any screenshots here at the moment but @patrick@ebay already knows about it .
So far it's been like this with every DHL parcel and I noticed it just under 5 days ago.Unfortunately you don't get any information from DHL either
