Welcome to the general eBay Q&A on 11/09/2024 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please don't hesitate to ask your (general buying or selling questions only, please not topics already posted by other members) here.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - we actually want you to!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure we answer any questions that may still be unanswered - please give us a little time for that, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our Community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later chronologically and thus further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is separate and is only for individual members' questions and not for starting discussions - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community, or simply wait until the next Q&A session*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·1 year agoHello eBay team,
how can it be that my case for fraudulent buyer protection abuse is rejected with this reason: “We did not receive a response to our request for further information” even though no one from eBay asked for further information? I reported the buyer for this, opened a case, explained the issue to the buyer and asked a follow-up question, but the buyer did not respond?
A buyer initiated the return process with me, claiming to have received the wrong item. That is definitely not true, and I could not simply agree to it in order not to support potential fraud. Are you really helpless in this situation?
How can it be that in such cases, as a seller, you get no support, but alleged fraudsters do?
Kind regards
A very disappointed seller ☹

Hello @steinau2013
As already written to you, for now it is a matter of "your word against theirs".
Even if there is suspicion, you would have had to allow the return shipment. You were told several times that you should please allow this. Even if there was a chance that you might get back the wrong item. Maybe he wouldn’t have sent it back? Then the case would have gone in your favor. If the wrong item had come back, eBay could have helped you again.
But digging in your heels led to this result. We will take another look at it with our colleagues. If something different turns out, we will let you know.
Best regards
Patrick

·1 year agoHello everyone,
It’s great that you’re both here today, because I already brought up this topic with you during the Q&A sessions on 15/05 ( @patrick@ebay) and on 05/06/2024 ( @miriam@ebay ).
The idea was to place a "disclaimer" to address the recurring issue with buyers who don’t read the listing all the way through and are then surprised that purchases outside the EU can still incur additional costs (import duty, VAT).
I haven’t received a reply from Ebay yet about whether something like this is planned. Do you know anything?
miriam@ebay
Hello @murmu67 and thanks for bringing this up. I’ll take over here, since we were both the last ones to interact on this topic and I passed on your request on 10/07/2024.
I can see that the current presentation makes it difficult for you to highlight the additional import costs. Since in July I already discussed the eBay.de item view of your listings (which differs significantly from the eBay.com view in this respect) with a responsible colleague, I’ll use your feedback again as a reason to bring this up once more.
So that we don't lose sight of this topic, I would ask you to open a new topic here, then we’ll take another look at it and I can give you direct feedback.
Kind regards
Miriam
