Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 12/02/2025 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team .
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to ask your (please not topics already existing from other members) general buying or selling questions here.
To be able to answer your questions faster, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - that's even what we want!
The Q&A session remains open until 3:00 p.m. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering all questions that may still be unanswered – please give us some time for this, as we often then have to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click on Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click on "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, in which all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in this order and then quotes the original question in the respective answer. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is only and solely for individual members' questions and not to start discussions - please feel free to use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you post your question directly in the community or simply wait until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team & Community Support Team

·1 year agoWhat’s incredibly annoying is that in the app (current iOS version) you constantly have to log in again when you go to the Payments tab or want to issue refunds. The same thing in the browser. That’s totally pointless if you’re logged in the whole time anyway.
nina@ebay
·1 year ago@itec-systems Hey. 🙂 Thanks a lot for your feedback. However, this is a security measure as part of our payment processing, intended to protect you from unauthorized access to your payments.
Best regards,
Nina

·1 year agoNo idea why an "unauthorized access" would be allowed to see all other data, edit offers, view contact details, etc. but not the Payments tab, where you can’t do anything else anyway.
Ebay logic, once again😐

·1 year agoHello! An offer advertising a living cat was again not removed, because a member of the Bay customer service team, for example, last claimed on 10.2. at 9:24 a.m. that this offer does not violate eBay principles, even though the report had explicitly referred in writing to the eBay principle on live animals. You’re basically being given the middle finger. The same story today with a turtle, with birds, dogs, hamsters, … and even with fish that still have several weeks of shipping ahead of them (!) from Thailand. The error rate looks even worse with completely different items. By now, countless such wrong decisions have piled up. The result: out of frustration, people stop reporting them, the impermissible offers keep piling up more and more, unnecessarily consume more and more server capacity, generate greenhouse gases, manipulate the search results of numerous users, and anyway: eBay’s image suffers, people use eBay less and less and with less enthusiasm.
But please, how can this unreliability be explained? Are the members of the Bay customer service team perhaps not people at all, but actually a bad AI? Are the attached explanatory texts perhaps simply ignored altogether, or can they not be accessed for technical reasons? The latter would not be so far-fetched, since, for example, one of the appeal links »https://www..ebay.de/ifh/appeal…« contains an error, which proves that neither professional software nor professionals are being used to prevent such things.
Could someone please find out why employees declare prohibited items as permitted, so that report texts can be adjusted accordingly if necessary?
Many thanks, that would make reporters’ work easier in future, if eBay in the 21st century is still not capable of simply not letting prohibited items go online in the first place.
PS: @steffi@ebay The fish from Thailand mentioned from charmingbetta, for example, were even reported orally three times and are still online. Still 84 at the moment! It would be nice if they didn’t also arrive dead at the buyer’s place …

Hello @olavgo13eba, Houston, we have a problem! Due to your latest reports, training measures have already been initiated. Of course I will do that again today as well. If your reports are not properly followed up again (which we do not hope for), you are welcome to open a thread directly in the community here.

·1 year agoMany thanks!
PS: With training measures, for example, a faulty link that has two dots after www doesn't just disappear so easily, and who needs training when even nine-year-olds know what living animals are. Somehow not comprehensible. The error rate of the security department can therefore only be explained somewhere else.

·1 year agoAnd since it's once again time to bring it up again:
It is long overdue to fundamentally rethink the service statistics and stop the seller-hostile behavior on the part of Ebay! It can't be that cases that were accidental on the buyer's part (already happened once last month and once this month!) and absolutely unjustified are supposedly not removed from the statistics, and thus are always counted against the seller negatively through no fault of their own!
itec-systems
·1 year agoHello,
if a buyer opens a case on eBay because of an item not received, in which evaluation period is this then taken into account in the service statistics?
Assuming the evaluation period runs from November to January. If the sale took place in January and the buyer opens a case in February, is this case still assigned to the November to January period, or does it go into the next evaluation period?
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems ,
We assume that it flows into the old period, meaning the original transaction period, if it is opened before the 20th day of the month. After that, it would very likely be in the new period, if that is still possible at all.
Regarding service statistics, we have often. As already explained, the number there cannot be removed, neither automatically by the system nor manually. No matter whether it was by mistake or, as here, how the outcome is.
We have repeatedly communicated the feedback & criticism on this.
Best regards
Patrick

Hello and ❤️welcome 😍

·1 year agoHello! Every working life comes to an end at some point, and eBay sellers want to retire sometime too.
A customer of ours has been active on eBay for almost 20 years, has over 1 million sales and
over 5000 positive reviews. The owner is an e.K..
The son has been helping out in the business for a long time and is now supposed to take over the ongoing business.
What needs to be considered so that the company name, followers, and reviews can be continued?
steffi@ebay
Hello @daddel1, that sounds like a well-deserved retirement 😍! I'll try to be as brief as possible and give you the necessary information:
In principle:
eBay may permanently exclude a user from using the eBay services (permanent suspension) if they transfer their eBay account or grant a third party access to their eBay account.
We can only agree to a transfer of the eBay account if the eBay account is clearly used for a business (not a pure eBay business, but a real company, such as a car dealership) and there has been a change of ownership of the company for which the eBay account was set up as part of a sale, merger, or acquisition.
Requirements for reviewing whether a transfer of the eBay account is possible:
