💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 12/10/22 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You’re also welcome to write me topics that should have their own Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask that you choose one question per post. Of course, you’re welcome to write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - we even encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure all questions are answered that may still be unanswered – please give us a little time for that, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our Community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited for the next Q&A session.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoNew listing tool
Over the course of 2022, commercial sellers will be able to switch to the new listing tool. This new tool is clearly designed and offers improved functions for creating listings as well as a consistent listing experience in desktop and mobile browsers.
This is the biggest piece of crap eBay has produced so far. Confusing, hard to use, and it takes many times longer to list or edit items. And on top of that, it’s being forced on us. Why can’t sellers be left with the choice of which tool they can and want to work with best? This form is the absolute peak of negativity! Please get rid of this immediately again or at least let us choose which tool we want to use for listing!
Confusing
Hard to use
Uploading photos takes forever
Moving photos is a disaster
Even after editing or rotating the images, it takes forever until it’s saved. And, for example, on 10/10/22 I had to rotate two images and with further images nothing works anymore except deleting the image. Even after uploading again, no rotation/editing possible! Only after saving to drafts and “finish editing” did image editing work again. That can’t be right and takes forever and unnecessarily makes our work harder!

Hello @perfect-sally! It’s good that you’ve shared your concerns about the new listing form with us. We, the Community Team, have been collecting your points of criticism for several weeks and passing them on to the people responsible. It would be even better, though, if you could leave your feedback directly in the sales form at the top right under the 3 dots. That way it goes straight to the relevant teams and can be categorized and evaluated accordingly.
As you wrote, after the change there is no way back to other sales forms. These changes are necessary for new features, to use updated technology and security, and to ensure a better listing flow on mobile devices. I will pass on the feedback regarding uploading and editing item images separately; we’ll take a look at it - thanks a lot! 👍
Best regards

·3 years agoIt's really unbelievable. And once again I can't list my article because the form isn't working!
Example: under culture it says Japanese and under motif Ganesha
However, it is a hand-carved dragon from Indonesia and has absolutely nothing to do with Japanese or the Hindu god Ganesha.
Neither item attribute can be edited, and the one already entered can't be deleted. How are you supposed to enter correct details and work normally like that?
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally! If you click on an item attribute, you should be able to change it. What error message do you get when you try?
Best regards
Miriam

·3 years agoNo error message appears; the existing entry Japanese simply cannot be deleted or "overwritten".
I’ve now changed the category without this info. I can’t keep tinkering with an article forever until it’s posted.
miriam@ebay
I had set my test article in "Creation period after 1945" , there the article attribute "Culture" was not necessary. Could you please finally tell me which category you originally used so I can pass that on. Thanks! 🙂
edit 15:28 - sorted, found it. You had previously set it in the category Antiques & Art > International Antiques & Art > Asian art: Southeast Asia > Creation period after 1945" ("Other"). For this reason, the relevant, unchangeable recommendations also appeared in the article attributes, @perfect-sally. I’m glad that in the meantime you were able to set up your article correctly and that this is therefore not an error on our part 🙂.
Kind regards
Miriam

·3 years agoHey @community-team@ebay
eBay is currently advertising small shops everywhere.
Also here >
When I click shop now there, offers are shown to me
from sellers with 300000, 1000000, etc. sales.
Are those small shops for eBay?
Or are those the ones that pay for ads?
patrick@ebay
Hello @Anonymous ,
you shouldn’t go by the number of sales or reviews here, or rather, that shouldn’t be taken into account. Nor by how long the small merchants have been on eBay. It’s more about the size in terms of the number & selection of offers. Running ads is not relevant either.
Best regards
Patrick
