💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 13/08/2025 at 2:00 PM
With the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team
Hello everyone and ❤️-welcome to today’s eBay Q&A session!
Since we don’t have a specific topic prepared this week, we warmly invite you to ask your general questions about buying and selling on eBay here.
❗ Please make sure not to duplicate existing topics from other members. Check first whether your question has already been asked.
🛠️ How the Q&A session works:
➤ One question per post
Please always ask only one question per post.
But you can post multiple posts with different questions – that’s expressly welcome!
➤ No new posts for existing questions
Please do not post follow-up questions or reminders to existing threads such as
“I’m still waiting for a response”
“My question hasn’t been answered yet”
as a new post.
We want to keep the communication clear and organized and ask you to always stay in the existing thread so that no duplicate conversations arise.
➤ Q&A session time window
⏰ The Q&A session is always open from 14:00 to 15:00.
After that, it will be closed to new questions.
Of course, we will continue to answer all open questions. Please understand that it may take some time – especially when we bring in colleagues to help clarify things so we can give you the best possible answer.
✍️ How to ask your question:
- Click on “Reply” at the bottom right under this post
- Enter your question
- Click on “Reply” between 14:00 and 15:00 to submit your question
ℹ️ Note on the format
We use the discussion forum format here, in which all posts appear chronologically.
The Community Team will work through your questions in order and quote the respective original question in the reply.
📌 The eBay Q&A session is a question-and-answer format for individual topics.
It is not intended for discussions.
For conversations, opinions, or exchanges, please continue to use our discussion forum.

You have already opened a post on this topic, which is why we can’t address it in the Q&A session.
Please stay here in your post, we’ll take care of you there.

·11 months agoHello everyone,
@community-team@ebay
is it no longer possible to manage your page in Sales Manager Pro?
Back then you could move these boxes around yourself and add more
Tasks, sales, orders, quick links, sales tools, etc.
Best regards
Marc

Hello @mmstore74 ,
The "Customize" function has been removed and replaced by automation.
That means you automatically get important information that is relevant for selling.
Regarding feedback, as always you can use the floating question mark on the right side of the page.
Best regards
Patrick

·11 months agoHello, there used to be a help article about the (Boolean) search operators. Could you please explain exactly what the search nomenclature / syntax looks like?
Thank you in advance!
miriam@ebay
Hello @olavgo13eba! The official recommendation is to use the advanced search to include or exclude keywords. If you like, you can experiment a bit; for example, + and - still work for now. However, there is no guarantee that this will stay that way or that all the results you want will then be shown to you. Since this is not an official recommendation, there is also no separate help page for it. On our help page: Advanced Search you will find the latest tips for searching as efficiently as possible.
Best regards
Miriam

·11 months agoThe advanced search wasn't what was asked for, thanks anyway. Hm, then maybe rephrased:
Please, how can you search for multiple item numbers at the same time?
miriam@ebay
Unfortunately, that only works via new tabs, so a new search/browser page is needed for each item number, @olavgo13eba.
13.08.2025 - 16:15: Small correction based on a note from an attentive user: You can also search for multiple item numbers in the search. That works via the Advanced Search with the search option "Any terms, any order". Feel free to give it a try, and I will too! 🤗
Best regards
Miriam

·11 months agoHello, the following reference numbers refer to reports that were decided incorrectly. Please report them again for correct handling:

2-196423472248
2-196424154608
2-196470061614

2-196903300032
2-196962827283
2-196957861145
2-196175916646 (There is still at least one item photo missing here. There are still several million listings that violate the principle of eBay image standards.)
Thanks for the comment »Your example with the wording „SEEKING this or similar men's jacket“ is indeed very clear« from last month. Unfortunately, this impermissible wanted ad was also not removed despite a promised re-review (see reference number: 2-196276579674). The seller had even confirmed in writing via an eBay message that he is not selling, but searching. It really couldn't be any clearer, could it?!
The note »it can happen that our assessment does not match yours« is unfortunately not very helpful, as decisions by employees and the so-called eBay automation are faulty. For example, this month it was decided incorrectly eleven times in a row!
Nevertheless, many thanks again from the stressed servers for your cooperation.
steffi@ebay
Hello @olavgo13eba and thanks for your message again 📬, first of all: the Q&A session is generally intended for asking questions about the eBay platform and its use – not for the regular submission of reports. For that, eBay has the designated reporting and appeal process, which you can also use yourself. Please check in future whether you are using this route before submitting cases here 🙏.
I will forward your current list one last time – however, I can now only have this reviewed using concrete item numbers (which you would still need to send me) and no longer via reference numbers.
Your criticism of repeated incorrect decisions has been noted. We are taking your examples – including the inadmissible search listing with the wording „SUCHE diese oder ähnliche Herrenjacke“ – as an opportunity to further question and improve our internal processes for reviewing reports 🔍.
Nevertheless, we ask you to keep the tone of your feedback factual. Statements such as „eleven times in a row wrong“ or „flawed eBay automation“ are very broad and only of limited help in the dialogue.
Thanks anyway for your perseverance and your commitment 💡. Even if we do not always agree, community feedback is important to us.
olavgo13eba
·11 months agoThank you very much, but you're not allowed to mention the item numbers here anyway, or are you now again?
steffi@ebay
Thanks for your follow-up @olavgo13eba, in principle: reports about specific items should only be made via the reporting function provided for that purpose on the item page – and not through the Community. This is not only for the correct handling process, but also protects everyone involved.
The rule that item numbers or links to specific offers should not be mentioned in the Community mainly applies to cases where public defamation could occur – e.g. through accusations, speculation, or problematic wording. You can find the exact rule here: Please no more links to item pages in connection with defamation!
If you want to report specific violations, the best solution is still the direct “Report item” function. There you can submit the case in a targeted way – and if needed, also file an appeal if the decision was not understandable to you 🛠️.

Filing an appeal every single time is veeeery time-consuming after a wrong decision has been made.
steffi@ebay
First of all: thank you very much for submitting the item numbers. Even though we understand the effort this takes for you, we’d like to make one thing clear again:
👉 The community is not intended to collect reports or challenge decisions. For that, there is deliberately the report function directly on the article page as well as the subsequent appeals process – this is meant to clarify such cases.
It’s of course frustrating that this process is repeatedly necessary for you. Nevertheless, this is exactly the official and correct route, even if it seems time-consuming in individual cases.
steffi@ebay
We're ready to go! Let's get started 🤗
