💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 14/12/22 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
As we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You’re also welcome to send me topics you think should have a full Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we want you to!
The Q&A session remains open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure that all questions that may still be unanswered are answered – please give us some time for this, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The eBay Q&A session format reflects the format of our Community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in this order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community, or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team
*on 28/12/22 the Q&A session will take a Christmas break and return in the new year at the usual time of 2:00 PM on 04/01/23.

·3 years agoIncorrect remaining time
For almost 1 year now I’ve had the problem of a remaining time being displayed incorrectly; sometimes the remaining time is off by over 1 minute, so it still says 1 min 50 seconds, and in reality it ends after 50 seconds
Today it was really bizarre: during an auction the remaining time counted up instead of down, so 15, 16, 17, 18 seconds.
I do place my bid, am also the highest bidder, get outbid and can’t bid anymore because the time has run out (even though it was still showing at least 1 minute remaining for me)
My browser settings are up to date, I use different PCs (at the office, at relatives’, on my phone or at my home PC), I have the problem everywhere.
Strange, right?

Hello @crazymum911 and thanks for joining in our Q&A today to report the behavior you've experienced. If there is a delay in the internet connection or in the local network, bids may possibly be transmitted too late. As a tip, I can suggest refreshing the page again before placing your final bid.
We need more information from you in order to investigate the behavior more closely. We cannot request this via the public Community. Please contact our customer service now to share your observation.
Thank you for your support and kind regards
Miriam

·3 years ago · EditedHello you two 🙂
For a few days now, when the Seller Cockpit Pro is suggested to you, you can no longer dismiss or close it with the button: “Not now”! Why??? You can get around it indirectly, but until a few days ago you could simply click the button mentioned and it was gone. Opera browser, latest version, pure shopping account.
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally! We’re already looking into this with the technical team - I know you love Opera, but maybe you could try it via Chrome?
Best wishes
Miriam

·3 years agoSorry, no. Chrome isn't going on my PCs. Then I'd rather keep it as it is and go there the long way to where I want to go.
miriam@ebay
Thanks again for the heads-up, @perfect-sally. The described behavior is already being thoroughly checked in the background - we’re taking care of it 👍.
Best regards

·3 years agoHello,
the sales form is extremely risky for commercial sellers who are operating as tax-status "small business" owners -
such information must not be published at all by a small business owner in their listings (PAngV):
the inclusion of "incl. VAT" can also get expensive for a small business owner -
there is no way anywhere to hide this -
not even if the relevant status details have been entered in the commercial account.
The small business owner may not state/show VAT either as a percentage or as an amount:
"No VAT shown, as small business owner pursuant to Section 19 of the German VAT Act."
Only additional text (such as the above wording) can be inserted in the free-text field for the "Legal information" - but the input fields (see graphic) cannot be hidden to prevent "expensive posts".
Solution from eBay?
miriam@ebay
Thanks for your critical note, @gern-at-home - we're looking into this internally and I'll get back here if I can write more about it.
In general, however, all sellers are responsible for complying with their legal obligations and for obtaining appropriate information from qualified sources.
Addendum 3:15 pm: Small business owners only need to leave the "VAT" field blank, and then the note "Incl. VAT" will not be displayed in the listing 🙂. Otherwise, we see no need to change anything about the current display.
Best regards
Miriam
