💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 15/03/23 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to ask your general buying or selling questions here.
You're also welcome to send me topics you'd like to see covered in a full Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask that you choose one question per post. Of course, you can post as many messages in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will still make sure to answer any questions that may remain unanswered – please give us a little time for this, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoRumors are circulating, derived from the changes to the payment processing terms, that a 14% fee for GVK from May (?) is in the pipeline? What’s true or false about that?
steffi@ebay
this is the first time @rest-fest, that I’ve heard of this rumor, to be honest. But your question should have been answered by my reply here, so it should be redundant now.

·3 years agoHello everyone..
What “policy” does eBay pursue for its commercial sellers, especially for micro-businesses, couch traders, handmade sellers, and all those who have been pushed into the commercial category by law? Are they supposed to leave the platform?
They often can’t keep up anymore and are in escape mode. My competitors are (almost) exclusively private sellers. All I ever see is in with the potatoes (fees 11%, even on shipping costs for private sellers), then out with the potatoes (private = everything free). There’s no continuity at eBay.
The private and semi-commercial seller sells for free, are the honest commercial sellers the ones who pay up?
steffi@ebay
Hello @rest-fest, as you surely know, eBay does not make the laws, but it is clear that merchants who sell commercially on the marketplace enjoy a special status (e.g. a wide range of offers & programs for targeted support that goes beyond the normal sales activity of private sellers) at eBay, and this status is not worsened by this fee change; on the contrary, it is further improved.
The math is actually quite simple:
By eliminating the fees, eBay removes the biggest hurdle that German consumers have so far seen when it comes to selling on eBay.de.
This strengthens eBay Germany’s private online commerce and makes it even more attractive for private sellers in economically challenging times to bring in extra money for the household by selling on eBay.de. As a result of the change, eBay expects an expansion of the range of used and thus lower-priced offers for buyers.
At the same time, eliminating the fees for private sales is an investment by eBay in the entire German marketplace ecosystem: the incentive to sell privately on eBay drives private sellers to list items, expands the variety of offerings on eBay.de, and thus increases the attractiveness of the marketplace. This in turn also increases sales opportunities for commercial sellers.
Another plus: consumers who use eBay.de for selling buy, on average, twice as much on eBay as consumers who use eBay exclusively for buying.
I know this is a lot of text, but it was important to me to lay out eBay’s line of reasoning as transparently as possible, since I am aware that at first glance this change looks like an injustice toward all commercial sellers, which in the end it is the opposite of.

·3 years agoHello,
where do the different numbers for monthly limit and active offers come from.
For Active Offers, we are shown a quantity of 434542 units with a value of €8236444.75, and for the monthly limits in Sellerhub 430406 units with a total value of €27100000.00. This means we are exceeding our limit. Which is not understandable, since last month it was around 19 million there and we have not listed any additional items.
Regards
steffi@ebay
Hello @toolnerds24, the numbers are different because one is the number of active items, the other is the limit for the month from 1.-31. If items were already listed before the 1st, they are active and count toward that, but not toward the limit. Or in other words, the active items are not a limit display.
To make it easier to understand: everything that is in the past is difficult for us to assess. The key point here is that for the monthly limits the item basis ("listed and sold") is a different one. In addition, the values for limits are not a live-time view. So in individual cases it does not matter whether you listed new items or not. If it is the limit itself that concerns you, a direct call to the colleagues can help you further.

·3 years agoHeld payments for sellers
Hello. Has eBay's payout policy for businesses changed?
Since October last year, all orders that come in via eBay have been automatically held "ON-HOLD". You only receive the money once the package has been delivered. Before, the money was available immediately after payment was received.
Am I the only one having this problem?
It's a bit annoying, especially since eBay doesn't recognize some tracking numbers and you have to claim your money even though the package has already been delivered.
Thank you for your responses.
steffi@ebay
Hello @rstyleautoshop, the relevant colleagues would need to take a closer look at this via this link, as I couldn’t spot any abnormalities just now while taking a look at your eBay account, and it’s good if you can name the colleagues a sample transaction directly. Thank you.

What can I do in this situation so that it returns to normal?
This applies to all orders.
Is there a way to check my account to see if everything is okay?
Thank you very much for your help
steffi@ebay
Exactly @rstyleautoshop, please follow the link so that the colleagues can take a very detailed look at your account in detail to find the cause for the hold.

·3 years agoI want to buy a bed from a private seller. It is offered for pickup. I contacted the seller and asked him for the dimensions and weight of the bed in its original packaging, since I wanted to hire a freight forwarder for pickup. I don't have a vehicle myself. The seller replied briefly with the words: "The bed had already been sold long ago". That was a few days ago. How can it be that this bed is still being offered by the same seller?
steffi@ebay
Hello @kabeda-2009, you have already done the right thing and reported the seller to us! eBay will now review the incident and take appropriate measures (which may not always be directly visible to other members). I hope that you find another bed that meets your expectations. I would also like to thank you again for helping us with your report so that eBay remains a fair marketplace❤️.
kabeda-2009
·3 years agoIf the bed is still available, I would also like to have it and arrange for it to be picked up. This option should be available on eBay and this would need to be made clear to the seller. Otherwise, he would have to delete the listing.
Best regards and THANK YOU!
steffi@ebay
Please be assured @kabeda-2009 that eBay will take care of ensuring that our policies are followed. But there was still no purchase agreement for the bed?
kabeda-2009
·3 years agoNo, because I first need the number, dimensions and weight of the packages before I can buy it. But if the bed is still available, as I assume it is, since it's still actively listed, then I would like to have it too.
Best regards
steffi@ebay
@kabeda-2009, eBay can’t force the seller to give you the data. Personally, though, I also wouldn’t really want to enter into a transaction with someone when the communication is already difficult at the outset.
steffi@ebay
Welcome to the eBay Q&A session! Since I'm the only one here today, I'd like to ask you to be a little patient when it comes to getting replies to your questions. Thank you very much 🙂.

·3 years agoCategory „Motorcycle vintage parts before 1939“ removed without replacement!
I’m really annoyed that the category "Category Motorcycle Vintage parts before 1939" was removed without replacement!
After asking several times, I kept being fobbed off with: "coming back soon"!
Nothing of the sort so far. It was an important category for buying + selling. That means items from the period are now, if at all, only very hard to find.
It would be great if eBay would bring the section back!

Hello @stereoag, I’d be happy to pass your feedback on and also try to find out more about whether a reintroduction is planned and, if so, when!
