🗨 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 16/02/22
Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for taking part in the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to ask your general buying or selling questions here. To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask that you post one question per post. Of course, you’re welcome to post as many entries in the eBay Q&A session as you like — in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to work on answering any questions that may still be unanswered — please give us a little time for that 🙏.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our Community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in this order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer then appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
Questions that we cannot answer directly during the session will be handled by us with a link to the answer.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you ask your question directly in the Community, or simply wait until the next Q&A session.
Kind regards
Your eBay Community Team

·4 years agoWhy can't "Saved Searches" be switched to list view?
patrick@ebay
Hello @Anonymous ,
I'd be happy to pass your feedback on to the relevant teams. We haven't overlooked your topic regarding the new design “Saved Searches”. However, I ask for your understanding that we can't answer the question here of why there is no list view. We could only speculate together.
Best regards
Patrick

·4 years agoWhy can a buyer open a case 2.5 months AFTER the purchase on eBay? I thought buyer protection was 30 days?
patrick@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally ,
Briefly and to the point for you. Return requests can also be opened after the buyer protection period so that the situation can be clarified via eBay.
Best regards

·4 years agoThese are not return requests, but rather an item that was allegedly not received. I think that is something different and should no longer be possible through eBay after the buyer protection period has expired.
patrick@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally ,
is there a topic about this? Feel free to mention us there or link it here. We would need to take a look at it first. Of course, it also depends on the delivery date and from where it was / is being shipped.
Best regards

·4 years agoNo, there’s no topic here. It happened to me today myself.
Sold and paid on 01/12/21. Shipped via Hermes Shop2Shop on 02/12/2021.
Ready for pickup on 06/12/2021. Sent 3 messages asking that the customer please pick up the parcel. Nothing happened.
Opened a request today because of an item not received. Hermes apparently sent it back, but I didn’t receive anything. Nothing conclusive is shown in the tracking either. I’m not going to mess around with that for long and have refunded, even though the buyer actually wants the item. I don’t see why I should ship it a second time at my own expense. Especially since it’s very cumbersome to get the shipping costs from the buyer, because some messages get blocked when you send bank details or a PP address.
Item number was: 114542448441

Hello @perfect-sally ,
if eBay tracking does not show successful delivery to the delivery address, a case for an "item not received" can still be opened. However, if eBay is brought in, we close the request because there is no entitlement to buyer protection or it is no longer covered.
Nevertheless, the recommendation would be to work with the buyer on a solution. Which is what happened in your case. I think there was more than enough opportunity to pick it up. 😉
Best regards

Hello @Anonymous! Do you mean because payment by direct debit is currently not possible, or what improvement suggestion would you have for this help page? 🙂

·4 years agoWell: bank transfer is history too, or is that coming back?
If you do not receive your item, you may be covered by the eBay buyer protection. You can either ask the seller for a refund or for the item to be delivered. If you used a payment method where we cannot intervene, we always recommend contacting the seller. Most sellers will want to find a solution.
It can’t be pickup, can it?

·4 years agoWe are introducing a new process to minimize the number of unpaid items after accepted price suggestions.
Once a price suggestion is accepted, eBay automatically collects the money from the buyer. eBay uses the payment and shipping details that the buyer provided before submitting the price suggestion.
What on earth was eBay thinking here? This only brings disadvantages for us sellers again!
Let's say a customer sends 3 price suggestions. Each one is accepted one after the other and, as I understand it, I then have 3 transactions, 3 x incoming payments = 3 x fixed costs!
There is no chance to combine the purchases and automatically pay 3 x unnecessary fees. That may not sound like much at first, but it could definitely add up. And vice versa, if the buyer decides to buy another item, they would have to pay shipping costs multiple times since you can't send an adjusted invoice if it has already been paid.

Hello and thanks for the heads-up, @perfect-sally! We have already noted the feedback regarding the lack of a combined shipping option when the checkbox for "Payment requirements for buyers" is selected 👍.
At this point, we can only thank you for the constructive feedback and recommend finding an amicable solution with the buyers after the transaction is completed (for example: a partial refund).
Kind regards
Miriam

·4 years agoIf I were to offer a partial refund, I would have to chase after the fees I overpaid. Apparently, those are not automatically partially refunded either. So it doesn’t really help, apart from creating extra work and having to argue with customer service.
miriam@ebay
We also picked up the topic of "fee refunds for partial refunds" based on your posts here in the community and raised it internally. Thanks for getting so involved and sharing your suggestions for improvement with us! 💪
Best wishes

·4 years agoNew shipping services for your listings starting April 4, 2022
Who came up with this again? Some shipping services are being dropped and there is no way to continue using certain shipping methods because buyers are not being told when their package is being shipped. Example: shipping via Hermes....you can no longer distinguish between Hermes Shop2Shop, eBay Hermes bulky parcel Shop2Shop (drop-off and delivery at a parcel shop) and Hermes bulky parcel. With these services, only Hermes is offered now. What’s that supposed to mean? It certainly doesn’t make anything clearer; instead, many sellers now have extra work that is completely unnecessary!
That means that for some sellers, certain shipping methods can no longer be offered. And I, and certainly some others too, will then simply back away from free shipping for something like Hermes Shop2Shop again and drop free shipping altogether.
Does eBay not think at all? To maintain a certain status, you need more or less the imposed free shipping too. And of course many choose this free shipping with Hermes Shop2Shop because it’s simply the cheapest in Germany. And customers are happy to take it too, since most of them aren’t home anyway when the courier arrives. That goes away, so for many free shipping will likely go away too. Some sellers, like me, will then just give up on the eBay guarantee. And of course the shipping costs have to be calculated accordingly, since eBay also takes its cut there and charges fees for it. The buyers will thank you!
miriam@ebay
Your opinion on this topic is very valuable to us, @perfect-sally. I’ll make sure we discuss this internally and thank you for sharing your experiences. If there is any feedback that I’m allowed to share with you, I’ll add my reply here 😉.
Best wishes
