💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 17/04/2024 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please don’t hesitate to ask your (general buying or selling questions, please not topics already covered by other members) here.
To help us answer your questions faster, please choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A as you like - in fact, that’s exactly what we want!
The Q&A is open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will still continue to make sure we answer any questions that may remain unanswered – please allow us a little time for that, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The eBay Q&A format reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A is separate and solely for individual members' questions only and not for starting a discussion - please feel free to use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·2 years agoHi,
thanks for answering our questions from the last Q&A so well, and so we’ll go straight on with......
We recently noticed that the correct VAT rate is not being calculated when selling to other EU countries.
For example: food was sold to Poland, where it is subject to a VAT rate of 0%, but the invoice was shown with a tax rate of 7%.
What could this be due to, or could it be changed manually? The option to add VAT to the products is only optional anyway, and 7% is entered there for Germany. There are no other options there for a variable VAT rate (depending on the country of the buyers).
Bye, and see you.

Hello @myeatnordic! As an eBay employee, I am not allowed to offer tax advice and therefore recommend discussing your plans with a tax advisor specialized in EU trade.
Tax rates do apply, but outside these situations, eBay does not adjust the tax rates. eBay itself has no information about the net value, so please be sure to state the gross price.
I hope this already helps, and we wish you all the best in resolving this situation!
Kind regards
Miriam

·2 years agoHi,
@miriam@ebay we have done that, but eBay's invoicing system includes the VAT, and then it is incorrect.
We know that you are not tax advisors and are not allowed to do that, but this is purely about behavior on the eBay platform.
The customer from, for example, Poland buys and automatically receives an invoice with a tax rate that we have entered for the items.
If we don't enter one, does the customer then automatically get an invoice without VAT shown? As a commercial seller, that is not lawful.
So the question is how we should behave on eBay, or what we can do so that eBay's system issues a correct invoice.
Should we manually create a second invoice every time and send it to the customer afterward?
Can we enter correct or separate tax rates for each country somewhere?
Should we leave the VAT, which can optionally be specified for each item, blank so there are no problems?
eBay has to know what happens then when you leave it blank.
Again, this is not about tax advice, but only about what happens on eBay and what the system does; I think it has been misunderstood.
Bye for now, and see you.

Thanks for the feedback, @myeatnordic. I’d be happy to discuss the whole thing again with a colleague who specializes in tax questions here with us; he’ll be back tomorrow. After that, I’ll add my answer to you here 🙂.
I hope that’s okay for you.
Update 18.04.2024: We’d be happy to address your questions a bit more specifically again, as far as we’re allowed to:
eBay does not automatically send invoices to your customers. Invoices are always sent by the sellers. When printing invoices via eBay, the VAT rate that you stored in the listing is always included. There is an exception for situations in which eBay has to collect and remit VAT.
No, but you could actively list the items on a country page and only ship to countries that have the same tax rate (second possible solution).
For listings placed on eBay.de, we refer you to our legal portal > Obligations under the Price Indication Ordinance
If you still have any questions about this, feel free to open a new topic in the business sellers section.
Kind regards
Miriam

·2 years agothe next piece of harassment from Ebay:
You had a high rate of not received items in Mar 2024
As already mentioned a thousand times, it’s the dumbest statistic Ebay has, containing absolutely unjustified entries. Buyers open cases on items that were shipped with tracking numbers and marked as delivered, only for it to later turn out that the package was left with the neighbor or the priority shipment actually arrived a day later. None of that would be so bad IF EBAY WOULD JUST REMOVE THE ENTRY RETROACTIVELY!
But no, it stays as an unjustified entry without the buyer being able to do anything about it! Is that Ebay seller protection?!
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems,
we have answered this many times in the Community. Unfortunately, this entry cannot be removed from the system. I can only tell you that we have already pointed out that once a case has been opened, regardless of how it ends, the entry still remains and there is currently no technical solution for this.
Best regards
Patrick

·2 years agoHello Patrick, but you can see yourself that the entry is unjustified, can't you?
How about actually passing that on and getting a reassessment started?
Technically, that should certainly be very easy to implement. Just like you can file defect complaints.
Here, sellers are clearly being disadvantaged without reason and cannot protect themselves.
I also won’t get tired of bringing this up in the future, because in my eyes it’s an absolute outrage.
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems,
we already have, as I wrote. It cannot be removed technically, not even manually. Unfortunately it was built / programmed in such a way that no one can remove / delete it.
P.S. Please don't compare it with a real defect; the entry is always counted / recorded in every case.
Best regards
Patrick

·2 years agoOkay, then it should just stay as it is, but without the risk that it affects the refurbished status. Or they should set the stupid limit much higher. But as it stands now, as a seller you are being unfairly portrayed worse than you actually are.

·2 years agoGood day,
The shipment status of my parcel in the USA has not changed since 12/02/24. DHL replied to my inquiry request by email that the parcel was handed over to the recipient or an authorized person on 03/04/2024. How can I forward this DHL email to eBay so that my amount is paid out?
Thank you!
Irene
miriam@ebay
Welcome to our community, @kan_guru10, and glad you’re here today! I’m sorry to see that there has been a problem with this transaction and that you still seem to be waiting for your payout.
We can review the payment hold if you please send us the proof of delivery by email. You can find our email address in the legal notice. I hope the situation can be resolved quickly and wish you many more successful transactions on eBay! 🙂
Update 18/04/2024: To close this out, I can share that the payout was successfully initiated today, after my colleague specializing in payment processing made a clarifying callback yesterday.
Kind regards

·2 years agoHi, who can I contact by email at eBay if I have problems with the company bestmatchtool. The MP3 player with order no. 06-10625-42928 item 185607634055 for 20.16, delivered 6.10.2023, is defective. It can no longer be charged. and I want to file warranty/guarantee claims. I only received a reply to my emails once, in incomprehensible German. No response to a deadline notice.
I now want my money back.
Thanks in advance Wolfgang
patrick@ebay
Hello @mucki142,
unfortunately, eBay can't help you with that. Regarding warranty and guarantee, you need to contact the seller or the manufacturer. It is no longer possible to open a return case.

·2 years agoHello @miriam@ebay
it’s about the “Visit shop” button. In the old view, it can be clicked easily on the right. Now there is only the option “View more items” to find there. This includes the categories provided by ebay.
To view all items in my categories, the customer would have to visit the shop. The categories there are also sorted by company. What use is a breakdown by “seasonal decor”, “Christmas and tree ornaments” and whatever else they’re called, if the customer collects items from a certain company and for that reason I have created a separate category exclusively with items from that company.
Maybe I’ve overlooked something. In the new view, I can only find the button below the description, at the bottom right, where nobody looks anymore.
Why is the button not still at the top right or, ideally, in the description.
Until about two years ago, the custom categories were still on the left side, in the description.
Now they are hardly to be found.
Kind regards
Ute
miriam@ebay
Hello @carino-koeln and thanks for letting us know that the button for your shop on the new view of the item pages isn’t prominent enough for you. We know that more people are currently being switched to the new item view, and the further development of the optimized views often depends on your responses, which are being closely monitored.
In the past, it has proven effective to share feedback on innovations like this via the feedback icon on the respective item page. @patrick@ebay and I also take your latest feedback with us and pass it on to the project team later this week.
Best regards
Miriam
