🗨 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 18/05/22
Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for taking part in the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
As we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here. To help us answer your questions more quickly, we kindly ask you to post one question per post. Of course, you can post as many contributions in the eBay Q&A session as you like - that's actually what we want from you!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will still continue to make sure that all questions that may remain unanswered are answered - please give us a little time for that 🙏.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective answer. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
Questions that we cannot answer directly during the session will be handled by us with a link to the answer.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you post your question directly in the Community or simply wait for the next Q&A session.
Best regards
Your eBay Community Team

·4 years agohello everyone,
this is about the suddenly changed search function. Here for "newly listed" items.
For about 14 days now, relisted items in the search lists are no longer shown with the relisting date, but are usually found somewhere with the original listing date.
From the seller's point of view, this is of course suboptimal, as it would make the constant renewing (automatic relisting) unnecessary, since the listings would no longer be found with the search criterion "newly listed".
From the buyer's side, rather pleasant, as these endless circles disappear into oblivion.
My question is whether this is intended by eBay or whether it is a technical error.
miriam@ebay
Hello @devlinvanhorn! We need to take a closer look at the behavior you described; it may indeed be an error. Following the Q&A session, we will ask you for further information and screenshots in the topic that has been opened for this purposeFixed-price listings not findable for buyers. Once the issue has been fully recorded, we can also open a bug ticket.
If you prefer, you’re welcome to report this behavior directly via our customer service 🙂.
Kind regards
Miriam

·4 years agoHello
I’d like to say something here, because it probably gets read too rarely by the moderators here.
But beware: I’m not trying to gloss over anything here or trivialize problems that other buyers (or sellers) have with eBay.
Since the end of 2019, I’ve placed about 800 orders with around 400 different sellers at prices of up to 450 euros. There were a few problems, but all of them could be solved with a little patience and friendly emails. Of course I hope that it stays that way.
So far I can only say: in general, I am very, very satisfied with eBay ...and with the sellers, of course.
Best regards...
Thomas

Hello @hansdamv ,
you’re already a regular visitor to the Q&A session. 😎
Of course, we’re glad that you like our weekly format.
It’s generally known that negative experiences outweigh positive ones. If there’s nothing to complain about, nobody has to or will bother to make the effort. Of course, we can understand a lot of it as well, or would feel exactly the same way. That’s just how it is and will stay that way. 😉
Still, thanks for your kind words, and hopefully you’ll continue to stay with the community and eBay, with continued enjoyment of it all.
P.S. We also have moderators in the community, and they really do moderator duties. Rather inconspicuous. We, on the other hand, are more of a Community Team and are here for you with all questions about eBay. 😁
Best regards

Hello,
Last week I had expressed some hope. Unfortunately, as is almost always the case, nothing has changed. Nothing has happened with the one I mentioned.
best regards

·4 years agoI don't understand why you're complaining that for others the business details apparently aren't present or aren't being displayed.
What about your details? For example, I don't see any privacy policy in your business details, and that belongs there just as much as everything else.
steffi@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, please only ask questions to the @community-team@ebay so that we can use the hour for what it's intended for. Thank you very much 🌻.

Hello @aelita86 ,
welcome back. Not all steps are traceable for you or for the public. Please understand that we cannot disclose processes regarding measures that affect eBay buyers or sellers. We already pointed this out last week thanks to your help.
Thanks again for that. 😎👍
Best regards

·4 years agoToday a weird question in the community:
Hi, I’ve just gotten the shock of my life:
I wanted to return an item that doesn’t fit, but the “Confirm return” button stayed greyed out until I had added about 7 pics of the item!Requiring you to enter the corresponding text is still understandable, but what’s with the requirement for 7 (in words: SEVEN!) pics???? I got the same result with Opera and Brave browser, so it can’t be that. Maybe it’s my account? (if something doesn’t fit, an item does occasionally find its way back!). Is the right of return now being undermined in an underhanded and sneaky way???
Have you had the same or similar experiences?
thanks a lot for your comments!
Did something change there? I also had returns a long time ago and had to upload at least 1 image or it wouldn’t have worked.
miriam@ebay
Glad to have you with us again today, @perfect-sally! I’m happy to look into this internally, please be a little patient. As soon as I have more information about the current requirements for opening a return, I’ll get back here and you’ll be notified 🙂.
In principle, of course, we want to ensure that our return system is not abused. Photos of the items from different perspectives help, among other things, to better understand the reason for the return and to see whether there may be room for improvement in the respective listing (e.g. revising the size information, etc.). Hope that helps for now 😉.
Best regards

·4 years agoSure, but there are also damages or defects that you can't capture in a picture, and yet you're forced to upload at least 1 image because otherwise you can't submit the follow-up question.
I already know how to handle that and just take a picture of the item, even if it's not visible what is defective or whether anything is defective at all.
But the thread starter wrote something saying that he had to upload 7 images, but I think that can't be right and he misunderstood something. But I can confirm the minimum of 1 image.

·4 years agoIs there a reason why, in the Coins section, only PayPal, Google Pay, and credit card payments are still possible?
patrick@ebay
Hello @hasjana ,
we'd need to take a closer look at that. I was already mentioned in another thread about this: Payment method instant bank transfer removed for coins?
I'll also reply there if needed. In principle, we're not aware of anything at the moment and we'll look into it.
Best regards
Patrick
miriam@ebay
That's true, but we can't predict that in general, whether the damage is visible or not. So it's better to upload one too many pictures of the item than one too few 🙂. That also helps to uncover abusive behavior, @perfect-sally.
Best regards
