🗨 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 19/01/22
Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for taking part in the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a special topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here. To help us answer your questions more quickly, please ask one question per post. Of course, you can post as many entries in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will still do our best to answer any questions that may remain unanswered - please give us a little time for that 🙏.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and thus further down.
Questions that we cannot answer directly during the session will be handled by us with a link to the answer.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session.
Kind regards
Your eBay Community Team

·4 years agoHello, is it possible to block a buyer based on their address? Unfortunately, I had a negative experience and was rated badly for no reason..... unfortunately my little message to ebay was not recognized! Shortly after, the same buyer bought from me again (even though he was dissatisfied with the first purchase). And of course reasons were once again looked for to create the conditions for a bad rating!! I offered him a full return with compensation for expenses.... was refused... we could only reach an agreement with a discount!!! Purchase price was 70€; I then gave 20€ discount to get some peace! Now he has already written in the exchange that he is interested in further items... However, I no longer want to sell to this person / this household!!! Since I am really well rated (before the nice man rated me 100, now currently 99.2) I do not want someone like this to ruin my positive ratings..... as described, this person has at least 3 profiles... probably him... his wife, etc. That is why my question is: is it possible to block based on the address and not based on the nickname?? Or can I simply cancel the purchase if I notice who bought it in order to avoid trouble!!

Hello @rsbp-5881 and thanks for your question! We don't like it when difficulties arise for you during a transaction. Our eBay rating system is intended to provide a meaningful picture of our members' trustworthiness. For this reason, ratings are only changed or removed by eBay in certain cases.
It's great that you've received so many positive reviews so far. At the moment, up to 5,000 usernames can only be added to the blocked buyers list and buyers with a shipping address in a country to which you do not want to ship can be excluded.
In your case, I recommend that you cancel the transactions if you cannot complete them. However, please note that too many purchase cancellations can negatively affect your seller performance. In principle, we review every request for review removal very carefully and the received reviews may qualify for removal if abuse can be identified. Our customer service can review specific incidents and support you with the next steps.
Best wishes
Miriam

Why do we commercial sellers generally incur € 0.35 in fixed costs, and why doesn’t the tiered pricing like for private sellers apply?
Likewise, if a buyer purchases more than 40 items using combined shipping, is that purchase still split up and the buyer and seller end up at a disadvantage?
So that means the buyer has to pay shipping costs again on top of that, and I as the seller incur additional fees (fixed costs again) even though combined shipping is offered, but once it’s 40 items Ebay is over it?
For us sellers, with things like craft supplies for example, it’s not unusual for more than 40 items to be bought together.

I asked this before and got a completely unsatisfying answer 😞
Let's see what comes out of this now 😉
patrick@ebay
Hello @decoupage-art1 ,
only 40 items can be combined as a limit; an increase for the future is unknown. We have already collected quite a bit of feedback within the community and passed it on internally, where the case of 60 to 100 items being split exactly like this has occurred more often.
Regarding the fixed fee, I’m a bit unsure what exactly you mean. With a private seller, the 0.35 cents are also charged per order. Unless the total amount is under 10 euros, then it is 0.05 cents.
Edit: The tiered pricing for private sellers makes sense because they sell low-priced items individually. A commercial seller usually sells in larger quantities, so the tiering is not necessary here.

·4 years agoWhat is the legal situation now if links are broken or lead to the wrong place?

Hello @Anonymous ,
of course we are not legal advisors ourselves and are acting in the capacity of a lawyer. But in principle, you already agree to the Terms and Conditions when you create a customer account on eBay or create/log in - where they are also linked correctly. Or also in other places.

·4 years agoHi Patrick, yes, that may be. But if I had already been signed up for a very long time, that doesn’t apply to the new payment processing, which is specifically mentioned in the revised T&C! Someone who doesn’t know that agrees before signing up for it and then posts something has unknowingly agreed and doesn’t get their money.
Well, it’s difficult enough to get your money anyway:

Maybe you can also explain to me, by the way, why in MhM, when you can’t write there, the posts go from bottom to top, and the numbers don’t match either. Annoying for just-readers!
Seems to be the same here too.
patrick@ebay
Hello @Anonymous ,
existing accounts were informed in advance about the new payment processing. Newly created accounts fall into my example. The incorrect link on the page is known and should be correct again soon. But you also still have the correct link in many other places. As I said, by registering you agree to the terms and conditions, even if you haven't actively read them.
Edit:
You can choose the sorting of the posts / replies yourself, whether from old to new or vice versa.
Best regards

Hello @Anonymous, regarding
Maybe you can also explain to me in passing why in MhM, when you can't write there, the posts go from bottom to top, and the numbers don't even match. Annoying for just-reading users!
Seems to be the same here too.
You can adjust the view for yourself here.

·4 years agoThanks, dear Steffi!
Unfortunately I can’t choose between the forums there, or can I?
The discussion forums are shown to me from top to bottom, the way I want to read them too.
Here, for example, this is your reply to my question: Message 1 of 12, even though I’m sure this isn’t the first one!
Strange, now it’s jumped: Message 3 of 14 (14.44 h)
steffi@ebay
@Anonymous this should work quite simply via the sorting
the same also applies to the "Members help members" section.

·4 years agoIt is repeatedly reported that, according to shipping companies, delivered packages have not arrived at the actual buyer's address or been delivered there. If these buyers open a case for an item not received, it is not long after opening before it is closed again because the system shows: delivered. Does the buyer really have to file an appeal every time so that ebay is able to check the delivery based on the postal code? Cases like this have been piling up lately, and certainly also because sellers sometimes knowingly use incorrect delivery addresses. It really can't be that hard to trace the tracking numbers correctly, including the correct postal code.
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally! The reports from the community have led us to revise our processes in order to minimize incorrect decisions in the future. If a case for an item not received is incorrectly closed because of invalid tracking, we still recommend filing an appeal through our customer service. I will also pass your feedback on after the Q&A together with current examples from the community.
Kind regards
Miriam

·4 years agoIf you're preparing the shipment – why do you always have to click again: “View buyer information” to get the buyer's anonymized email address? What is the point of having to call up this information EXTRA again? Everything else can be seen without any problem.
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, I’d like to pass this question on to the team responsible for shipping solutions. As soon as we have feedback, I’ll add my reply here 🙂.
Update 25/1/2022:
After speaking with the product team, I’d like to thank you for your feedback here. For shipping, the (alias) email address is usually not required, with a few exceptions, hence this extra step.
Best regards
Miriam
