🗨 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 20/04/22
Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for taking part in the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please don’t hesitate to post your general buying or selling questions here. To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask that you ask one question per post. Of course, you’re welcome to post as many entries in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we’d love that!
The Q&A session stays open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will still take care of answering any questions that may remain unanswered – please give us a little time for that 🙏.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower right-hand corner of this post, enter your question, and click “Reply” between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in this order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
Questions that we are unable to answer directly during the session will be handled by us with a link to the answer.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the community or just wait for the next Q&A session.
Kind regards
Your eBay Community Team

·4 years agoHello, I've had the following problem since switching to the new eBay shop: As soon as you click on an item or the item description, a blank line appears there between the item details and the actual item description with the old shop name and the old categories (e.g. still WEIHNACHTEN), but unfortunately I can't change anything about it, and it looks unprofessional.
Kind regards, Monika

Thanks as well for this valuable tip, @Anonymous! I'll take this on board and follow up on your report and check it together with the technical team.
Best regards

Hello @deco-lifestyle24 and thanks for this tip! We’ll take a closer look at your listings after the Q&A session, and I’ll get back to you again if there are any further findings on this 👍.
Update 3:45 PM: Here we explain how the shop header can be adjusted.
Best regards
Miriam

Hello @deco-lifestyle24! I’ve just received the feedback for you that via this Link: Shop Header Features it should work for you to adjust the old terms and conditions and the shop header. We recommend that you deactivate all links, etc.
The link we provide may only continue to work until mid-year.
I hope that helps you! 🤗
Best regards

·4 years agoWhen can I finally expect a legally compliant invoice printout?
How much longer does eBay want to keep fooling me??
miriam@ebay
Hello @decoupage-art1! It’s understandable that you’re hoping for a prompt solution, and I appreciate you getting back in touch about this. We are still in close contact with the responsible teams regarding the new invoice documents, and I can assure you that your criticism, or rather your feedback regarding the missing tax number for small businesses, has been passed on.
An improvement is planned with the next update, and once everything is completed, I will get back to you as usual in the topicUpdate on the new packing slip and invoice documents
Unfortunately, there is currently no new information I can share with you.
Best regards
Miriam

·4 years agoAnd please, how does eBay expect me to create my invoices?
These contradictory answers of yours, sorry ... you must realize yourselves that this is an own goal and your excuses?
As a commercial seller, I am obliged to issue a proper invoice and this invoice printing is part of my shop, and I pay fees for that too!
So please, how am I supposed to create invoices??
WHY am I the guinea pig and everyone else still has the previous legally compliant invoice printing?
Please, don't come back with the line that this can no longer be undone!
It's just embarrassing what eBay is delivering here!
Oh, and when will the new update take place? In the year 2o25?
decoupage-art1
·4 years agoAnd since there’s no new info - please use the old invoice printing again until then!!
Everyone else has it and it’s supposedly not working for me, guys ... and what excuse is coming this time?
I have to laugh, supposedly EVERYONE was switched over, but apparently not after all?
But how does eBay imagine I’m supposed to print my invoices in a legally compliant way now?
miriam@ebay
I can very well understand your annoyance, @decoupage-art1. That’s why I’ll pass on your criticism once again afterward in the appropriate way. In the meantime, the free text field can be used to print the VAT identification number on the invoice.
After checking again, it is still no longer possible to switch back to the old invoice printout, and according to my information, all eBay accounts were already switched globally to the new view at the end of March; I can’t say anything more about that.
Kind regards
Miriam

·4 years agoFor heaven's sake, why am I the guinea pig here and you all are talking yourselves into trouble?
Supposedly EVERYONE has been switched over?? Well, apparently not???
The free-text field is not there to enter a small business regulation and other legal data!
Ebay, so pathetic - I'll pass it on to the consumer advice center ...

·4 years agoI bought flashcards, shown in the pictures as a set of 5
and also photographed individually, and listed in the title as "flashcards". There was only a Buy It Now option, no auction, without any selection options (which of the 5 boxes you are buying). In his description, the seller is demanding 5 times the price for the set and an individual price that is also listed differently from the Buy It Now price. I messaged him asking whether I could buy the set, and he said it had already been sold. But since the listing was still active, I wanted to be quick and bought the item via Buy It Now and paid directly with PayPal. Now the buyer is demanding by message the 5 times price from the description (he also says there are other interested parties even though I’ve already paid)... So what exactly applies now? It seems I have now only bought one of the 5 flashcard sets, but I don’t even know which one, since you couldn’t choose. This purchase is very misleading and I hope for some help from you on how I should proceed.
miriam@ebay
Hello @frickjuli and thank you for sharing your experience with us in such detail. Even though, as an eBay employee, I am not allowed to provide legal advice, I can share the following information from our legal portal with you: On our marketplace, legally binding contracts are concluded for the goods or services offered. Anyone who lists an item on eBay as a seller makes a binding offer to conclude a contract for that item. If you place a bid for an item or buy the item via "Buy It Now," you are thereby declaring acceptance of the offer.
However, it may still happen that the desired item cannot be delivered because it is no longer in stock and the purchase has to be canceled. If the purchase contract is to be dissolved, an agreement between both parties is generally necessary. Further or legal information on dissolving a purchase contract can be obtained from a legal advice center.
If you cannot agree and it reaches the point where the item received does not match the description (does not include the full scope of delivery) or you receive neither the item nor your money back, you are protected by the eBay buyer protection.
Feel free to start a new topic outside of the Q&A here in the community if you need further support from other members 🤗.
Kind regards

Hello @frickjuli! In principle, a purchase via eBay is considered completed once the purchase price stated in the checkout process has been paid.

·4 years agoBasically the €100, because the text in the listing is part of the contract, so it's an ancillary agreement.
Only on eBay is it no longer enforceable, because you can only pay the eBay amount directly to eBay. The seller won't ship, he isn't allowed to provide bank details, email addresses are automatically deleted from the messages. So he will cancel the sale, because that also works very easily! eBay will refund your money at some point, depending on how it was paid.

·4 years agoHello,
I already asked in February how eBay feels about the new international shipping service from Deutsche Post - unfortunately, no one from eBay has commented on it since then.
The problem will become urgent as of 01/07/22, because from then on there will be no more proof of drop-off - the shipments will only be scanned at the parcel center.
And there can then be delays in scanning there, especially on public holidays.
We all know that eBay is pretty strict when it comes to defects caused by goods not being shipped on time!
But the thing is that from this date on, we sellers will have no ability to influence it and no proof anymore.
So what does eBay intend to do to protect us sellers from shipping defects that are not due to our own fault?
Regards
Andy

Hello @imperial-modellbau and thanks for voicing your concerns again. I am already in consultation with our colleagues who specialize in all shipping topics and will add to my response as soon as I have further information.
Best wishes
