💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 22/02/23 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You’re also welcome to message me with topics that should have a full Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will still make sure to answer any questions that may remain unanswered – please allow us a little time for that, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To publish your question, click Reply in the bottom right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoHello,
I posted under
https://community.ebay.de/t5/Mitglieder-helfen-Mitgliedern/R%C3%BCcksendekosten/m-p/4678977#M76321
a question about return shipping costs from China, and was referred by @oskar_der_wikingerskar_der Wikinger to this Q&A session. Can you say something about this?
Thanks
ankekl

Hello @ankekl ,
it seems to be about the order no.: 01-09615-14574
The item location was / is China. Generally, sellers are responsible for the costs of return shipping for an item that differs from the description. Please contact our customer service about this once so that our colleagues can take a look at it for you.
Best regards

·3 years agoHi everyone,
why is it no longer possible to save the listings from a specific (saved) seller as a search, so that I (as in the past) receive an email when new items are posted?
best regards
miriam@ebay
Hello @devlinvanhorn! You should still receive notifications via a saved search. Is there a specific example we can take a look at?
Best regards

·3 years agoHello @miriam@ebay
This only works if I enter a search term.
But I want to see everything that has been newly listed.
miriam@ebay
I understand, @devlinvanhorn. Through the "saved sellers" tab, you can regularly retrieve the inventory and sort it by "newly listed"; there’s also the option to subscribe to the newsletter.
I currently don’t see an email notification option, but I’ll gladly pass your request along 🙂.
Best regards
Miriam

·3 years agoHello everyone, my open question this week is why eBay does not transmit all sellers to the price comparison site "geizhals.de" or "geizhals.at" despite Best Price.
The resulting sales loss amounts to approx. 6,000 - 7,000 € and I am of the opinion that one should already know which "switch" is being flipped when the search results are passed on.
patrick@ebay
Hello @ttd4it ,
tricky question, since we don't know how such external search engines work or how or which processes such providers use or take into account, the contact there would probably be better placed. But you've already tried that, as I could read in your topic.
I can ask around, but eBay will probably have little to no influence there.
Best regards

·3 years agoHello Patrick,
the operators of "geizhals.de" and "geizhals.at" told me that ebay transmits the search results from the current prices because they themselves do not have access to the interface API.
This was followed by an initial inquiry to ebay.
The answer is:
Quote:"
Hello Mr. Fischer,
thank you very much for your message.
I can very well understand your surprise, so I immediately looked into why this is the case. eBay selects the most interesting offers every day and transmits them. In addition to the price, other factors also play a role here; unfortunately, I cannot tell you what they are because that would be an unfair advantage over your competitors."
End quote.
This would therefore refute the claim that ebay has no influence, but instead controls it directly itself.
My efforts have now shown that shop operators are treated preferentially.
This means ebay earns not only from "listing fee", "commission", "Payment", but also wants to additionally "sell" shops in order to generate further revenue.

·3 years agoAn extremely annoying bug I keep running into with variants:
When I add a new combination and enter the price, I hit save, but the price isn’t applied and is instead reset to 0. As a result, I get an error message. Often I have to save the combination price 10 times before it finally gets applied.
miriam@ebay
Thanks for bringing this behavior to our attention, @itec-systems. After checking, I can confirm that our technical team is not yet aware of it and that at first glance a browser issue is suspected. If you can rule that out, I ask you to report the incident to our customer service, so that an error ticket can be opened if necessary 👍.
Best regards

·3 years agoIn any case, I have the problem on different devices but always in Google Chrome. I'll see whether it's browser-dependent.

·3 years agoNext question:
buyers keep asking me to send an invoice. Every time, I have to awkwardly write out the email contact so the message doesn’t get blocked by Ebay.
When will a proper attachment finally be possible in Ebay messages? That can’t be that hard, can it?
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems ,
it’s actually also “not” intended that, for example, the real email address is exchanged; that’s what the alias mail is for, and it can also be used. Regarding private buyers, this is actually not an obligation; of course it’s great that you still offer it. But you do have the option, in the respective order under “show buyer information,” to see the alias mail. As a buyer, there is also the option to go to Purchase details > View invoice.
Regarding an eBay message with attachment, rather not. The new eBay messaging system, which is already available in the app, allows images as attachments.

·3 years agoI looked everywhere I could think of (I think), but the option "Show buyer information" doesn't exist for my orders. Where exactly should I be able to find it?
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems ,
VK Cockpit Pro > Orders, then you simply click on the order no. and you'll be taken to the order overview. At the bottom left under purchase details, you have the buyer data, where View buyer information is also shown, you can click on that, then the alias will also appear.
It will then look like this: xxx@members.ebay.com

·3 years agoHi, so my first question:
If a buyer opens a return, e.g. because of a defect, there is never the option to replace the product or have it sent back for repair and then shipped again once repaired — that’s exactly what many buyers want! Why isn’t this option offered as a choice?
miriam@ebay
Hello @itec-systems and thanks for your question! During the clarification phase, you can of course agree on another solution; as long as both sides are happy, everything is fine with us.
Only if one party brings eBay into it does our eBay.de Buyer Protection not provide for an exchange or repair of an item at that point.
PS: We will gladly pass on the wish for this option.
Best regards
Miriam
