💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 22/03/23 at 2:00 p.m.
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You’re also welcome to message me with topics that should have a whole Q&A session of their own.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - we even encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure that all questions that may still be unanswered are answered – please give us some time for that, as we often then have to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later chronologically and thus further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

steffi@ebay
I would like to thank you for yesterday's Q&A session. If any questions still arise that you would like clarified before the next eBay Q&A session, or if you didn't have enough time for another post / reply, please open a new topic and tag me @steffi@ebay as follows:
Of course, you can also ask me questions about your community account or the community itself via a @steffi@ebay

·3 years agoComplaint entry in service metrics (where the opaque peer groups hang out and 4% penalty fees threaten)
Process (other account, order number: 24-09815-78978):
- Package cannot be delivered, buyer contacted, buyer o - I’ve moved, my new address is....,
- I am not allowed to change it with Hermes, because eBay shipping specifies what is stored there, please contact Hermes yourself or wait until the package is back with me or request an order cancellation
- Buyer wants to do that, but couldn’t manage a redirection, etc. with Hermes
- today: a case was opened, item not received, of course the address was wrong, the case says, among other things, seller is not responding to my questions - that’s a lie, there are 2 emails from me in the messaging system, buyer wants the goods or the money, goods are not possible because the address at eBay is wrong
- money refunded, case closed - all good so far
In the peer group, a defect for "not received" will now appear soon.
- How do I get rid of it?
- I sent it with tracking to the address stored at eBay and cannot know in advance that it is wrong.
steffi@ebay
Hello @rest-fest, I overlooked your question on Wednesday and I want to apologize for that! As soon as I receive feedback from the responsible colleagues, I will write it to you here!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update:
here I am again @rest-fest 🙂.
From now on, please hand the case over directly to eBay so that we can close it in your favor, since you did everything right and sent it to the correct address!
If you refund without a case or purchase cancellation, it will be counted as "out of stock".

·3 years agoA few weeks ago I reported a PVK, and it only had just under 2000 items (new goods) in it.
Unfortunately nothing happened! How many items does it have to be for eBay to respond?
steffi@ebay
Hello @miss-chili612 and thanks for your report. Please understand that I can't give you any information about these criteria. What I can share, however: not only the number of items is a filter criterion. Often the measures and sanctions taken are not directly visible to other members, which of course makes it difficult to understand 😔.

·3 years agoI just registered, but as the eBay account type I now see "Private." However, I want to sell commercially. Can I change the account type? Or should I delete my account? How can I then register as a company? Honestly, there are so many articles on the website, but you can hardly find a "Register as a business" button.
steffi@ebay
Hello @svetbossh-0, thank you very much for your question and your feedback on eBay’s usability, which I will pass on to the right place!
Please follow the steps below to convert your eBay account into a business account:
More about registering a business account can be found here:
http://pages.ebay.de/help/account/how-to-register-business.html
You can also find further information for business eBay sellers here:
http://verkaeuferportal.ebay.de/
Great that you will be selling commercially on eBay. I already wish you every success with it 🍀.

·3 years agoThanks for the answer! Unfortunately, there is no "Edit" button in the account type, please see a screenshot
steffi@ebay
then you would first need to complete the registration for the new payment processing in full.
Only then is it possible to change the account type from "Private" to "Business". @svetbossh-0

·3 years agoHello,
does Ebay ever plan to somehow restrict the "private" sellers who are obviously acting commercially?
It would already be a step forward to build in a reporting function for that.
Even Ebay Kleinanzeigen.... manages that....
steffi@ebay
Hello @itec-systems, please be assured that we are constantly working to further improve our filters in order to take the necessary measures and sanctions against private sellers who are acting commercially.
You can report these sellers to us via the report button -> Listing policies -> Bypassing eBay fees and fee avoidance -> Other eBay fee avoidance.
Thank you for that.

·3 years agoThanks, then I'll give the report function a try right away. I'm curious to see whether it fizzles out or has any effect
perfect-sally
·3 years agoYeeeah, hope dies last 😉
Nothing changed there even earlier, when the correct reporting option still existed.
perfect-sally
·3 years agoSo far, the alleged filters on eBay are completely useless.
Just as an example: almost every day, private sellers list COVID tests, sometimes multiple times!
And after reporting them, they may eventually disappear, but shortly after they’re listed again - and multiple times at that!
So much for the filters!

·3 years agoWhen will eBay and/or Klarna finally get the payment method Sofortüberweisung under control?
We get reports here every day that payments have failed, and of course the buyers are sometimes desperate.
That's not how you treat users. If it were like this with other "companies," people would have parted ways long ago and would be looking for another payment provider where it actually works.
steffi@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, I'd be happy to pass this feedback along. Could you please always tag me in the threads you see so that I can also create a report about it. That would be great! Many thanks ❤️.
perfect-sally
·3 years agoSure, if I remember, I’d be happy to tag you. But I’m definitely not the only one who always responds to requests like this. I hope the other little helpers are reading along too and tag first.
steffi@ebay
Thanks - I'll write it again in our Mentors Lounge too 🙂.

·3 years agoHey, @steffi@ebay 😘
I noticed that there are now some questioners in the forum who have to pay taxes, even though it was by no means apparent that the buyer is based abroad, or that they probably have a German delivery address.
Do the sellers still have to pay the taxes then? But how can they prevent that? eBay has made the view of WHERE a user is registered perfectly opaque for the “average” user. 😎
I don’t have an example at hand right now, but I’d be happy to look one up for you.
steffi@ebay
Hello @bootyooty, I’m happy to ask the colleagues, but I’d need an example item number for that, please. That would be great 💐.
steffi@ebay
Welcome to the eBay Q&A session! Since I'm the only one here today, I ask for a bit of patience in advance when it comes to responses to your questions. Thanks a lot 🙂.

·3 years agoHi Steffi, I think it's great that eBay is waiving the fees for private sellers. I also think it's just as great, as a commercial seller, that dozens if not hundreds of private sellers have several thousand sales and ratings. As a 20-year-old fee-paying seller, I feel seriously taken for a ride... Regards, selikum
steffi@ebay
Hello @selikum, as much as I can understand your opinion, I have no choice but to refer once again to my reply from last week in the Q&A session and assure you that I will also pass on your feedback (thanks for that!) to the responsible colleagues.
selikum
·3 years agoHello Steffi,
I also think that's okay for normal private sellers. But someone who has been selling thousands of antiques, jewelry, etc. for years is not a private seller to me and doesn't need financial help either.
Regards, Selikum
