💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 23/04/2025 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team .
Since we don't have a special topic this week, please feel free to ask your (please not topics already existing from other members) general buying or selling questions here.
To be able to answer your questions faster, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you want - that's even what we want!
The Q&A session remains open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will still continue to take care of answering all questions that may still be unanswered - please give us some time for this, as we often then have to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To publish your question, click on Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click on "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in this order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later chronologically and thus further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the format of the discussion forum, the Q&A session is individually and solely for individual members' questions only and not for starting discussions - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you would post your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A session.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team & Community Support Team

·1 year agoUpdated Terms of Use for Payment Processing
OLD
3. Payout of Funds
If we are your payout entity, we will carry out the payout of the received proceeds to your settlement account. Your payments will generally be initiated either automatically according to the schedule you set or as a “payout on demand” based on an individual payment instruction from you. If no regular payouts are set up for your payment account, we may send available funds from your payment account to your linked settlement account at certain intervals.
The proceeds from your transactions - except for those withheld in accordance with these payment processing terms - will be combined into a payout that will be paid out to you in accordance with the payout schedule agreed with you. For example, if you choose weekly payouts, a payout will be made to you automatically once a week, including all amounts available for payout on that day. If you initiate a one-time “payout on demand,” we will arrange for the payout of all amounts available on that day. You may sometimes have the option to have only part of your available transaction proceeds paid out to your settlement account and keep the rest in your payment account. We expect the proceeds from your transactions for which we handle payment processing to generally be received in your payment account and ready for payout about one or two business days after the buyer places the order; however, the actual payout times for individual transactions may vary depending on the payment method chosen by the buyer and the date we receive payment for the transaction. For compliance or risk prevention reasons, it may be necessary for us to use a process that differs from this payout process. The balance in your payment account is not a deposit. You will not receive interest or any other returns on the money in your payment account.
If we are unable to pay out your proceeds, we reserve the right - depending on the reason why we cannot pay out your proceeds - under certain circumstances to refund the amount to the buyer (for example, if we cannot process your information for technical reasons, etc.) or otherwise deal with these amounts in accordance with applicable law.
We provide you with monthly summaries of your transactions free of charge, which can be accessed in Seller Cockpit Pro.

1. Why do you send something like this as a tracked link?
https://pages.ebay.de/payment/2.0/terms.html?mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=e99011.m2.l1&mkcid=8&bu=44594141521&segname=1744031862014EMDE_T_DE_T&crd=20250422020000&ch=osgood&mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=0&mkcid=8&bu=44594141521&segname=1744031862014EMDE_T_DE_T&crd=20250422020000&ch=osgood
...even though this is already enough:
https://pages.ebay.de/payment/2.0/terms.html
Why is the user being tracked unnecessarily here? Isn't the simple link without tracking enough? I don't see any benefit, let alone a necessity.
2. And what exactly is the difference there, in German please?
3. And why can't you exercise the necessary care in your terms and conditions and annoy your customers less often with this gobbledygook?
miriam@ebay
Hello @de3trader! We use tracked links because it is a common way to measure the success of our communication and ensure that our content effectively reaches its target. This update to the Terms of Use for Payment Processing changes the disbursement terms in Part III, Section 3 (Disbursement of funds).
I’m happy to pass along your feedback and forward it to the decision-makers - thank you for that!
Best regards

·1 year agoHello,
today I have a question about ratings for canceled purchases.
It has now been reported several times that users (sellers) received negative ratings when they canceled a purchase.
Since then, that was not possible if the reason given was: the buyer requested the cancellation or something is wrong with the address.
You could only rate if the seller stated that the item is damaged or cannot be found - i.e. that they cannot deliver it.
Why was that changed?
steffi@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, could you please send me an example item number, then I'll be happy to look it up for you! Thanks 💐
perfect-sally
·1 year agoNo, sorry, I’m not looking for that right now. In any case, it has happened several times that the VK complained about it.
It may well be that one or the other review is justified, but for the reasons mentioned, no reviews for such cancellations have been possible since then.
steffi@ebay
got it @perfect-sally - as soon as you have such a case again, tag us, then we’ll be happy to pass it on.

·1 year agoHello everyone,
today I’m making use of this and have 3 questions.
1st question:
In the category "Tickets > Vouchers" all offers are advertised with buyer protection.
Whether physical or digital shipping.
According to the buyer protection rules, though, there is no buyer protection for vouchers.
Is this display an error in the system?
-----------------------------
2nd question:
On the offer pages, the category tree (at the very top) has completely disappeared, showing which category the listing was placed in. Instead, there now seems to be ad space for shop banners.
Several users have already brought this up.
Is this a test or already a new layout?
So you can no longer tell at all where the item was listed.
Especially when you come to the offer via ads on external sites, it’s no longer obvious where you end up.
You also can’t simply click back to a category yourself anymore while browsing.
So you have to start searching all over again.
---------------------
Question 3:
I’ve also now used postage through eBay (large letter with matrix code).
I noticed that several shipments do have a scan for drop-off, but nothing else - neither transit nor delivery.
Examples in the orders:
20-12946-71584
07-12945-85551
04-12957-19146
26-12905-27046
The fact that tracking is not very reliable has already been mentioned several times.
If a buyer now reports a letter as not received, do I also have no seller protection?
According to the guidelines, a delivery scan would be required for that.
Or does this not apply to the matrix codes?
All I can do is drop it off, and I have no influence over the scans.
If 4 out of 6 shipments are not scanned any further, then the advertised seller protection is of no use to me at all.
All 4 shipments went to different regions and were not recorded there by the destination depots. That doesn’t seem to be running very reliably.
Kind regards
Marko
steffi@ebay
Hello Marko @gebraucht-ist-gut , please make sure to ask only one question per post. I’ll take care of an answer to your first question and will get back to you as soon as I’ve found out more.
patrick@ebay
Hello @gebraucht-ist-gut
the directory is still there for me. Cache and cookies were deleted?
Browser is up-to-date as well? Are you using Chrome or FF?

I use Chrome, the latest version. Cache and cookies have been cleared.
Here’s a link to the topic, where others have already mentioned it.
So I’m not alone:

molfish
·1 year agoHello everyone 😊
Last night I posted the following English sentence in the forum
"I'm s*bleep* that I really don'r know you"
and it actually got beeped. I understand that I can't use certain words in this forum, but how am I supposed to replace the English word "S h u r e" and why does this useless filter recognize the word "H ure" in a completely normal colloquial word?
patrick@ebay
Hello @molfish ,
but you do know that sure is spelled like <- this and not "Shure".
With " I'm sure that I really don't know you " it would have gone through without any problems.
The filter is similar to the eBay reviews, if, for example, a word is marked with *, then the filter just filters everything, no matter which letters/symbols are before the word.
Best regards
Patrick
molfish
·1 year agoThere is also the spelling with "h".
Still, thanks for the explanation, then I’ll continue writing the words I want to set with spaces or periods, then it will definitely work.
patrick@ebay
Hello @gebraucht-ist-gut ,
we need to take this on board once, and it can't be finally resolved here.
Thank you for reporting it.

·1 year ago@patrick@ebay
the category is also not displayed on the item page for me
in the Samsung Browser the display is like on gebraucht-ist-gut, in Chrome the gray line at the top is also missing - both on Android, everything up to date, desktop view
... although the category was already missing recently
patrick@ebay
Hello @hasjana ,
it will probably be tied to the account rather than the browser.
We will look into it and update in the existing thread.
Best regards
Patrick
miriam@ebay
Hello @gebraucht-ist-gut - I drew the short straw and get to answer your third question 🙂.
We say that you are covered by eBay seller protection if all of the following conditions apply:
Accordingly, we should cover you in these situations if a case were opened against you. We see your criticism and I want to take this as an opportunity to raise it internally once again, even though, like you, we only have limited influence over the scans that have been made.
Kind regards
Miriam

steffi@ebay
so I’m back @gebraucht-ist-gut! Vouchers that are not digital can have buyer protection and must not be listed under digital vouchers. Only the digital vouchers are excluded from eBay Buyer Protection.
gebraucht-ist-gut
·1 year agoHello Steffi,
thanks.
Then you should maybe update the buyer protection guidelines.
Because there it is listed separately:
Excluded items
steffi@ebay
yes exactly Marko @gebraucht-ist-gut - everything that can also be sent as a voucher, e.g. in a letter, has eBay buyer protection. Everything that is only digital has no eBay buyer protection.
myeatnordic
·1 year agoHi,
now the last question for today:
For us, a dispute case has still not been closed. No. 5007742633 The buyer did not recognize the transaction.
The status says that no decision has been made yet. If you look under further info, it says: That the dispute case has not yet been decided but that seller protection applies and nothing will be deducted from the balance.
If the status is like that, it should actually be irrelevant to us, but it is a bit annoying when the case is still being displayed and is not being closed.
Please follow up once to find out what the current state of affairs is and how things stand.
Bye, and see you.

samantha@ebay
·1 year agoHello @myeatnordic
In fact, all we can do here is wait until the payment provider gets back to us and the dispute case is processed. Unfortunately, this can often take several weeks.
As hard as it often is, please be patient a little longer.
Best regards
Samantha

·1 year agoHi,
@samantha@ebay
thanks for the reply first of all.
Why shipping service provider?
Some weeks? The case was opened on 19/01/2025, and in your timeline it says approx. 2-8 weeks processing time. That was 14 weeks ago now.
Please explain once.
Bye, and see you.

samantha@ebay
·1 year agoHello @myeatnordic
I of course mean payment service provider, sorry.
The 8-week deadline applies until the payment service provider makes a decision. Now the objection period has to be waited out.

·1 year agoHey,
we have a question.
Since we know that you always have a lot to do...
When and how, if at all, is a response made to a suggestion for improvement that has been posted in the relevant section, or is it simply acknowledged and passed on without any further comments?
https://community.ebay.de/t5/Vorschläge-und-Rückmeldungen-zur/Das-ganze-System-für-Preisvorschläge-muss-überarbeitet-werden/td-p/4933945
That is the link to the suggestion for improvement.
Bye, and see you.

miriam@ebay
Hello @myeatnordic! That’s on me 🤦♀️. I had seen your suggestion, and had already prepared the points mentioned, but I hadn’t sent it on to the people responsible yet, since I was still looking out for more reports about it, and then it slipped through the cracks. So there still isn’t any feedback I could share with you. I’ll make sure to reply to you in the topic again by the end of this week, and thank you for your patience 🤗.
Best regards
