💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 24/09/2025 at 2:00 PM
With the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team
Hello everyone and ❤️-ly welcome to today’s eBay Q&A session!
Since we don’t have a special topic prepared this week, we warmly invite you to post your general questions about buying and selling on eBay here.
❗ Please make sure not to duplicate topics already started by other members. Check first whether your question has already been asked.
🛠️ How the Q&A session works:
➤ One question per post
Please always ask only one question per post.
However, you can post multiple posts with different questions – that is expressly encouraged!
➤ No new posts for existing questions
Please do not post follow-up questions or reminders to existing threads such as
“I’m still waiting for a response”
“My question still hasn’t been answered”
as a new post.
We want to keep the communication clear and ask you to always stay in the existing thread so that no duplicate conversations arise.
➤ Q&A session timeframe
⏰ The Q&A session is always open from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
After that, it will be closed to new questions.
Of course, we will continue to answer all open questions. Please understand that it may take some time – especially if we involve colleagues to clarify things so we can give you the best possible answer.
✍️ How to ask your question:
Click “Reply” at the bottom right under this post
Enter your question
Click “Reply” between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to send your question
ℹ️ Note about the format
We use the discussion forum format here, where all posts appear chronologically.
The Community Team handles your questions one by one and quotes the original question in the reply.
📌 The eBay Q&A session is a question-and-answer format for individual topics.
It is not meant for discussions.
For conversations, opinions, or exchanges, please continue to use our discussion forum.

·1 year agoHello everyone,
it’s being discussed in the forum right now. The general wish for contacting the seller before a negative or neutral review.
My latest neutral from the day before yesterday says: "."
The review was given, as far as I can trace it, to the exact day after 60 days. No contact beforehand, no complaint, nothing. It was delivered quickly, even earlier than expected, and with tracking. Of course, even after the review, no reply to my follow-up question. The dear buyer is generally often disappointed with ebay, as can be seen from their review behavior.
Question: Can anything be done against something so meaningless, and if so, on what grounds?
steffi@ebay
Hello @uwid 👋
Thanks for sharing your experience – cases like this really raise questions, especially when there was no communication at all and the rating seems so meaningless. 😕
May I ask why you want this neutral rating removed?
I already mentioned it elsewhere today, but I’m happy to repeat it here once more:
A neutral rating has no effect on your seller statistics. It affects neither your service status values nor the visibility of your listings. 📊✅
And even if it is removed, unfortunately that doesn’t bring any positive change, because the buyer can’t leave a new positive rating – the original rating is simply deleted. At least the buyer didn’t leave a negative rating here, but instead chose neutral (albeit in very few words).
If you still want the rating reviewed – for example, because it says nothing to you at all or you feel it is unjustified – you can do that directly via eBay’s seller inquiry portal:
🔗 Start eBay rating review
Maybe that helps you, even if I can understand that cases like this just make you shake your head. 🙈

·1 year agoHello,
two quick things:
1. I’ve had an unpaid purchase for months now. I can’t report the buyer or cancel the purchase. Could this please be deleted?
2. Under messages, I’ve also had a red 1 showing for months, even though there isn’t actually any unread message.
selina_b@ebay
Hello @itec-systems,
thank you very much for your post.
As for your first question, you can no longer cancel the purchase. However, you do have the option to hide the purchase.
As for your second question, you've probably already deleted cookies and cache. Have you checked over in the hub whether the unread message is also shown there?
Kind regards
Selina

·1 year agoI don't want to unnecessarily delete cookies and cache right now, but the problem is on 2 PCs and even in the eBay app on the iPhone. So I don't think that's the cause.
selina_b@ebay
@itec-systems You have to go into the app and shake it so you can report the error directly there.
Best regards
