💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 25/10/2023 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️ welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a special topic this week, please don't hesitate to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You're also welcome to send @steffi@ebay topics that should get a whole Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - we'd actually prefer that!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered – please allow us some time for that, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The eBay Q&A session format reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we'd be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·2 years agoHello,
There are always these eBay promo vouchers from time to time.
Where can I see how many buyers have already used them with me and for which items? Unfortunately I can’t find anything about it.
patrick@ebay
Hello @itec-systems ,
sorry, your question unfortunately slipped through the cracks with us yesterday.
You probably mean eBay’s own promotions for buyers, such as the current Winterfest23.
There is currently no such overview for you as a seller. If eBay issues a voucher, you as the seller do not receive less.
Best regards
Patrick

·2 years agoHello team,
Lately, requests have been piling up because eBay Plus users are not receiving a free return label. I don't think everyone is entering the wrong reason; I think this is also due to eBay.
Also, I read that apparently, when a shipping label is issued, it is generated with a significant delay.
Is there a problem with eBay Plus, as in many other areas as well?
patrick@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally ,
I’ve also noticed these topics over the past few days, but there is actually no technical problem behind this. It’s best to tag us in such topics when irregularities occur. If technical causes are indeed responsible, then eBay will of course issue a new one.
Best regards

Regarding the principle on abuse of feedback, eBay writes the following:
"It is not permissible to leave feedback comments that conflict with the rating."
We would like to know whether negative feedback with a positive comment - according to the above principle - is removed by eBay? If not, how should one proceed here as a seller?
It is very unfortunate if the buyer does not respond or does not carry out the amendment request and the contradictory feedback remains, since the actually positive comment therefore negatively affects the shop.
We would appreciate a helpful response!
steffi@ebay
Hello @duandyou, could you please send me a correct item number as an example so that I can take a look? Thank you very much.

Many thanks @duandyou - unfortunately I was caught up with leaving work yesterday, but I'm happy to write to you today to let you know that I have already removed the feedback, as it clearly violated our policy on feedback.

·2 years agoHello @steffi@ebay,
so we got experimenting again and I did the following.
1. Question
We advertised an entire shop category and this is what happened
1. Views " zero to practically none "
2. Visibility worse than without the ad, our products are only found at the end of the world
3. Why does one item have " ad " underneath and the other one doesn't; it's like that with many items.
4. But if I would sell it, Ebay would charge me ad fees 1000000000% because it was sold via ad
this can't all be real, what they're doing to us
2. Question, why do I pay 11% fees on shipping costs when the service isn't available at all?
I sent something to Switzerland and since I have to include a customs declaration there, that's not possible via Ebay and for that 11%?
patrick@ebay
Hello @mmstore74 ,
could you please give us the order number once and we’ll take a look at it, or get in touch with the colleagues.
Best regards
Patrick
***Update***
Hello @mmstore74 ,
I’ll use this post to add the answer.
1. The fee is charged on the total transaction amount: Fees for business sellers
"The final value fee consists of a percentage of the total amount of the transaction and EUR 0.35 per order.
The total amount of the sale includes the item price, all handling charges, the cost of the shipping service chosen by the buyer, sales tax, and all other applicable fees."
2. So this also includes shipping costs: these are taken into account in order not to disadvantage sellers who factor shipping costs into their item prices . In addition, with eBay payments processing, eBay handles the total amount as well. Regardless of whether you can, for example, use our label service only for national / international shipping.
The maximum shipping costs apply only to domestic shipping (for the first shipping method)
Maximum shipping costs
For your order or sale to Switzerland. eBay also transferred 29.99 euros in shipping costs (less fees) to you. Therefore, the colleagues also cannot quite understand the problem regarding maximum shipping costs, compared to private and 5 kg parcel.
Best regards

Hello @mmstore74, I have forwarded your first question directly to the responsible colleagues and I hope I get the feedback in time to pass it on to you here. If not, I'll post it as soon as I receive it and then tag you. @patrick@ebay is taking care of your second question.

·2 years agoHello @steffi@ebay
thanks a lot, and yes, I’ve already seen that Patrick has worked on the 2nd question, but why is there still 11% on shipping costs for commercial sellers?
It was said by eBay that this was only done so that no one could profit from it (but if I now have to charge, for example, 4 euros more because the shipping costs are calculated with 11%, then I ask myself who is profiting here, because that would then be eBay and not the seller, or is the money donated to a good cause? Please answer us this once. And why does this still exist, because private sellers could then charge shipping costs in utopian amounts now.
There is an upper limit of €9.50 in my category, but I also have parcels that are heavier and more expensive, and with €9.50 I can’t cover that at all and then have to pay the rest out of my own pocket too.
patrick@ebay
Hello @mmstore74 ,
I’d like to take your questions with me and clarify them with our teams if that’s okay with you. Unfortunately, we can’t clarify that so quickly during the Q&A session.
Best regards

·2 years agoHello @patrick@ebay
I’d be happy if there were a reply too and honestly, if I ship 100 packages abroad for €44.99 each, I’d normally be at €4,499, but since Ebay wants a piece of the pie, I have to charge just under €5,100, and then Ebay takes over €500 in fees out of that for what reason, and what happens to this money ???
patrick@ebay
Hello @mmstore74 ,
I will do my best to find answers to your questions.

·2 years agoI created a template that includes a minimum price of €75.
If I want to use it now but enter a different minimum price,
I get the message: "The lowest minimum price you can set is EUR 75.00"
I assume it's a bug, or is it a feature after all? It seems obvious that I wouldn't always want the same
minimum price.
patrick@ebay
Hello @ansegil ,
I’ll need to take a look at this after the Q&A session. Does this only happen with that one template?
Feel free to send us a screenshot as well.
Best regards

·2 years agoHello Patrick,
here's a screenshot. Yesterday I only created a template, but I just created a completely new one. That one also shows the same message with €75. The same in the Edge browser, where there can't be any cookies yet.

Today @patrick@ebay and I are looking forward to your questions 🤗
