💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 26/02/2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team .
As we don’t have a specific topic this week, please don’t hesitate to ask your (general buying or selling questions only, please don’t post topics that are already being discussed by other members) here.
To help us answer your questions faster, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you’re welcome to write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session stays open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we’ll still make sure to answer any questions that may remain unanswered – please give us a little time, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The eBay Q&A session format reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later in the chronology and therefore further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is separate and on its own only for questions from individual members and not for starting discussions - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community, or simply waited until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team & Community Support Team

·1 year agoone more question: According to an eBay message, I got Top Status today.
"You will now receive the logo for sellers with top ratings prominently on your profile page."
Aside from the fact that I thought I’d had it for ages. I can’t see a logo anywhere on my end.
nina@ebay
·1 year ago@itec-systems Hello and thanks for the hint. We will check the display of Top Rated Seller again and then get back to you. 🙂
Kind regards,
Nina
[Update 15:02] The logo is displayed on your profile page, i.e. in the imprint.

·1 year agoA hello to the ladies (and everyone else)...,
We commercial sellers do have to comply with a few things and observe principles.
Listing as private when you’re a business, providing contact details in the listing, and pointing to websites for sales outside the platform is not permitted. This has been brought up many times before. Is the AI perhaps only being used to generate penalty fees and deficiencies in the service statistics? Some people may be hiding - but here it’s being done very openly.
Case 1. (Your reference number: 2-191034617336.)
Private, 10k reviews, about 15k sales, no eBay fees, etc.
And in every item, the listing text says that the seller is a (small) business, with the whole rigmarole of tax number, address, phone number, cancellation rights, etc.
The reported item was ended. Nothing happens when referring to the others and the overall account.
Case 2.
About 90k listings, all in Russian (some in English). Even the eBay name seems to violate the rules, as far as I know, but I’m not entirely sure how this is handled now, and in every listing there’s a reference to the website/shop outside eBay
Question: What can be done about it? Same rights and obligations for everyone?
miriam@ebay
Hello @rest-fest and nice to read from you here! We know that complying with eBay policies can sometimes be challenging for our commercial sellers due to several factors. However, our reporting process only works if the correct reason for reporting was selected.
We’d be happy to look into your reports separately after today’s Q&A session - thanks for the heads-up!
Kind regards
Miriam

·1 year agoHi,
I’ve been having the problem more and more often with international shipments that the shipping label can’t be created because the buyer’s address is too long or contains special characters.
Why does eBay even allow this when the buyer enters their address? Then I have to create the label through the post office website, and that means buyer protection no longer applies since the item value is under €20 and it’s sent as a normal letter.
miriam@ebay
Hello @itec-systems! We’d be happy to discuss this with the shipping team and see to what extent we can do something here to improve the user experience. Of course, it’s understandable that for regular letter shipping you’d like to buy the label via eBay.
For now, I can only say: Thanks for your suggestion, we’ll check.
Best regards
Miriam

·1 year agoHello everyone 😊
On eBay UK, paid buyer protection has been introduced.
https://ocs.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/paying-items/buyer-protection?id=5594
Is something like this also planned for Germany?
Thanks
steffi@ebay
Hello @molfish, we don’t have any information on that, but if it proves successful on ebay.co.uk and is then planned for eBay.de - you’ll be informed in good time.

·1 year agoHello, since this issue is also still unresolved: How can it be, for example, that despite the decision to remove the listing, a live tomcat days later is still online today, the live BLH cat may continue to be offered despite being reported, out of 5 prohibited hatching egg offers that are almost identical, four are not supposed to violate the ..... , cockatiels were still declared permissible after being reported three times, …
That does seem to indicate a structural problem that can no longer be explained by human error, or are you on a blacklist thanks to the hundreds of reports?
Thank you in advance
steffi@ebay
Hello @olavgo13eba, this is not a structural problem, but possibly human failure, which I cannot judge without knowing the listings. In this context, I would also ask you not to quote internal guidelines, because firstly they are not relevant or helpful and secondly they can change. In general, I can tell you:

·1 year agoHello!
For 2 weeks, with some providers, the gallery images are no longer enlarged when zooming (2 diagonal arrows), but rather shrunk (large white border). A few weeks ago that wasn't the case; back then the zoom worked properly for all gallery images.
What could be causing this???
nina@ebay
·1 year ago@gegi2305 Hey. 😊 Could you please give us 1-2 example item numbers? We'd be happy to take a detailed look at the whole thing.
Best regards,
Nina
gegi2305
·1 year agoHello!
Unfortunately, item numbers are not included in the offers.
It is also a "provider-specific" problem, e.g. with the provider
"designklassiker321".
Regards gegi2305
nina@ebay
·1 year ago@gegi2305 Thanks. 🙂 We are currently unable to reproduce the difficulty you mentioned. All images are being displayed correctly.

·1 year agoHello, I wanted to ask how I can make a transfer to ebay from my bank if my ebay account is in the red.
Best regards
Caro
miriam@ebay
Hello @tarot333 and thanks for your question! Take a look in your eBay account under "Payments" - there you'll see the option "Pay now" - there it will show you which payment methods are available to settle your account with a one-time payment, namely direct debit or credit card. A classic bank transfer is not possible.
Kind regards
Miriam

·1 year agoHello team,
eBay has made it very easy for buyers to cancel purchases or request order cancellations when buying from private sellers. For whatever reason, eBay proceeds like this or even makes something like that possible!
Of course, such requests have also been rejected lately, which in my opinion is justified if it is not a complaint.
After the rejection, people simply don’t pay, and after the deadline sellers can’t cancel the purchase for non-payment! Why? The error message always says something like...there is already a cancellation in progress or the purchase has already been canceled....That surely can’t be what was intended, and it’s a huge loophole for buyers so they don’t get marked as non-payers.
Something urgently needs to be changed so that sellers can also carry out another cancellation after a rejected cancellation request and not let non-payers get away with it so easily.
steffi@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, are you referring here to a "purchase" via an offer or an auction? I ask because with Buy It Now you first have to pay in order to receive the item.
perfect-sally
·1 year agoAnd with an action, you don't have to pay first to receive the item? 🤔
I'm referring to the users who have posted things like this here several times already and then couldn't initiate a cancellation after the deadline because of non-payment. It should be irrelevant whether they're auctions, buy-it-nows, or fixed-price offers. A non-payer is a non-payer to me!
steffi@ebay
I think we're talking past each other here @perfect-sally - please write me the examples in the Mentorenlounge, then I can pass them on as a suggestion for improvement to the colleagues responsible.
perfect-sally
·1 year agoSorry, I'm not going to search around for who knows how long for the relevant posts where, after a rejection, cancellation due to non-payment is not possible. You should be able to see for yourselves that if a normal purchase, or even an auction if you like, has been rejected, then no further cancellation of the purchase is possible if the "buyer" doesn't pay. The system must be programmed that way, and there can't be exceptions if this seems to happen often.
steffi@ebay
doesn't have to be immediate. We'll keep an eye on it and if you have an example, please write it with @perfect-sally

·1 year agoHello everyone,
@steffi@ebay @community-team@ebay my question today:
Wasn’t it once possible for sellers to change the buyer’s shipping address afterwards? Is that no longer the case now?
I had such a case yesterday and the buyer wrote to me and gave me the shipping address, but then the problem is that I can no longer benefit from eBay “seller protection,” because I have to create the label directly through Deutsche Post and not through eBay.
Best regards
Marc
nina@ebay
·1 year ago@mmstore74 Hey. 🙂 The delivery address can actually no longer be changed after the order has been completed.
As you already correctly mentioned, the transaction is then no longer covered by seller protection.
We recommend canceling the purchase so that your buyer can enter the delivery address correctly and then buy the item again.
Kind regards,
Nina

·1 year agoHello @nina@ebay
Why isn’t there an alternative anymore, because then everything gets so cumbersome and it could all be so easy, and it used to work like that once.
I did it like this now, bought the label and then changed the address on the PC afterward
Kind regards
Marc
nina@ebay
·1 year ago@mmstore74 The option has been deactivated, as this has caused too many complications and also serves to protect you. In principle, only the stored delivery address always counts.
Kind regards,
Nina
