💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 26/11/2025 at 2:00 PM
With the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team
Hello everyone and ❤️-ly welcome to today’s eBay Q&A session!
Since we haven’t prepared a special topic this week, we warmly invite you to ask your general questions here about buying and selling on eBay.
❗ Please make sure not to duplicate topics from other members that already exist. Check beforehand whether your question has already been asked.
🛠️ Here’s how the Q&A session works:
➤ One question per post
Please always ask only one question per post.
However, you can post multiple posts with different questions – this is explicitly encouraged!
➤ No new posts on existing questions
Please do not post follow-up questions or reminders to threads that already exist, such as
“I’m still waiting for a reply”
“My question still hasn’t been answered”
as a new post.
We want to keep communication clear and ask you to always stay in the existing thread so that no duplicate conversations are created.
➤ Q&A session period
⏰ The Q&A session is always open from 14:00 to 15:00.
After that, it will be closed for new questions.
Of course, we will continue answering all open questions. Please understand that it may take some time – especially if we involve colleagues to clarify things in order to give you the best possible answer.
✍️ Here’s how to ask your question:
Click “Reply” below this post at the bottom right
Enter your question
Click “Reply” between 14:00 and 15:00 to submit your question
ℹ️ Note on the format
We use the discussion forum format here, in which all posts appear chronologically.
The Community Team processes your questions in order and quotes the respective original question in the reply.
📌 The eBay Q&A session is a question-and-answer format for individual topics.
It is not intended for discussions.
For conversations, opinions, or exchanges, please continue to use our discussion forum.

·8 months agoIn direct debits from Paypal, I can't see any connection to the eBay purchase, apart from the price of course. That becomes a problem when the purchase and the debit are far apart in time (e.g. 3 months). Noting the purchase date would be very helpful. Maybe that could be set up.
steffi@ebay
Hello @fabiomandingo! I totally understand that it can be confusing when the purchase date and the PayPal debit can't be directly matched up. If you pay directly at checkout, PayPal has the relevant information through eBay and it can also be clearly assigned ✔️.
For purchases where you only pay after 30 days, however, PayPal does not pass this data on to the bank 😕. As a result, the direct link is unfortunately missing, and at this point you would need to contact PayPal, since the assignment and transfer are handled there.
My tip for you ⭐:
If you use the “pay in 30 days” option, keep track of it directly in your PayPal account. There you can see all open and scheduled payments and assign them much more easily 📅🔍.
I hope that helps! 🙌

·8 months agoAnd then one more topic:
Thanks to Miriam and co, I'm no longer subject to this payout block until 3 days after delivery. However, there are still a few old sales that haven't been released yet. Could these please be released?
Here's an excerpt:
steffi@ebay
Hello @itec-systems, great to hear that you’re now receiving your payouts again in a timely manner 💸🔓– we’re really happy about that! 🎉 Of course we’re keeping an eye on your further reports 👀 and our teams are already on it. As soon as there’s an update for all affected sellers, we’ll כמובן let you know right away. 📢✨
Thanks for your patience and understanding! 💛

·8 months agoHello everyone,
my Refurbished statistics are being shown extremely poorly here because of a single entry. An appeal has already been filed against this defect entry, which was of course rejected. It is quite clear that the item was sent out within the processing time and also arrived earlier than was communicated to the buyer by Ebay. So how can it be that the defect still remains?
miriam@ebay
Hello @itec-systems - I looked into it and, as far as I can tell, there are two tracking numbers for this order (1 x Hermes, 1x DHL), which is causing this confusion. I still need to look into this again with the responsible team afterwards, but according to the tracking number stored in the purchase details, the first scan was made on time.
We’ll take this with us and an update will follow.
Kind regards
Miriam

·8 months agoYes, there was a problem with the device, which is why it was exchanged for a higher-quality replacement device. Nevertheless, that has nothing to do with the original shipment or the defect. Thanks for clarifying.
miriam@ebay
Okay, but that also means you first shipped with DHL and then sent the replacement item with Hermes, @itec-systems? Because the Hermes shipment was what was evaluated, and of course it’s clear that it would be recognized as “too late.” We’ll have this checked to see what we can do for you.
Update: We have now removed the defect for your order 26-13666-01229 👍.
Best regards

·8 months agoHello @community-team@ebay
Is it possible to close your eBay shop but still let 2-3 listings with variants keep running, or would everything be ended?
Best regards
Marc
nina@ebay
·8 months ago@mmstore74 Hey. 🙂 It's a shame that you want to close your shop, is there a specific reason for that?
To answer your question, in principle your items remain active, but then the usual standard fees for your listings will apply.
Kind regards,
Nina

·8 months agoHello @nina@ebay ,yes there would be a very strong reason for that and I think I am speaking here for all HONEST commercial sellers.
They keep saying report, report, report, about private sellers, and when you see after weeks and months that they’re just laughing their heads off and the pockets while eBay does nothing (even if it’s said that something is happening behind the scenes), I’m saying nothing is happening at all.
It’s like calling the fire department, they hang up, you call again, and they just keep saying call again and again, something will happen behind the scenes, and meanwhile the house is burning down, and that’s exactly how I feel here at eBay lately, neither heard nor appreciated
I’d also like to sell privately starting next year, saying if someone asks it’s a collection liquidation of several thousand model cars, collected over decades, and everything’s fine.
You are our mouthpiece here, and this really isn’t against you either, and everyone should do their bit here, but please then under fair and just conditions.
I really don’t know what’s going on in the heads of upper management, but something like what’s going on here really cannot be meant seriously.
And when you also see all the contests that are only for private sellers, vouchers they get when they sell something, and what do we commercial sellers get? More and more money taken away from what little margin is left.
@nina@ebay that would be the reason for it.
Thank you and kind regards
Marc

·8 months ago@mmstore74 I’m sorry that you feel this way and I understand how frustrating the whole thing is. We’d be happy to take your feedback on board again and pass it on to the appropriate place.
Kind regards,
Nina

·8 months ago@nina@ebay that would be nice, and take a look...
...we commercial sellers have to follow a thousand rules and laws, are partly in competition with other commercial sellers, we can't compete on price with the private sellers at all, and then we still get charged sales fees, a fixed fee, and the real kicker is that fees are still deducted from the shipping costs, then fees to the dual system, shop fees, and why shouldn't I save all of that here????
Sell privately, ship, collect the money, and life is good.
Make eBay interesting for EVERYONE again and, above all, FAIR for EVERYONE, and then no one here will feel so ripped off and screwed over anymore.
What do you think would happen at the flea market if private sellers were allowed to sell for free and commercial sellers had to really pay through the nose.
Best regards
Marc
