💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 27/08/2025 at 2:00 PM
With the eBay Community Team & the Community Support Team
Hello everyone and ❤️-ly welcome to today’s eBay Q&A session!
Since we haven’t prepared a specific topic this week, we warmly invite you to post your general questions about buying and selling on eBay here.
❗ Please make sure not to duplicate topics already posted by other members. Check first whether your question has already been asked.
🛠️ How the Q&A session works:
➤ One question per post
Please always ask only one question per post.
But you can post multiple posts with different questions — that’s explicitly welcome!
➤ No new posts for existing questions
Please do not post follow-up questions or reminders for existing threads such as
“I’m still waiting for a reply”
“My question hasn’t been answered yet”
as a new post.
We want to keep the communication clear and easy to follow and ask you to always stay in the existing thread, so no duplicate conversations are created.
➤ Q&A time window
⏰ The Q&A session is always open from 14:00 to 15:00.
After that, it will be closed for new questions.
Of course, we will continue answering all open questions. Please understand that it may take a while – especially if we need to involve colleagues for clarification so we can give you the best possible answer.
✍️ How to ask your question:
- Click on “Reply” at the bottom right under this post
- Enter your question
- Click “Reply” between 14:00 and 15:00 to submit your question
ℹ️ Note on the format
We use the discussion forum format here, in which all posts appear chronologically.
The Community Team handles your questions in order and quotes the respective original question in the answer.
📌 The eBay Q&A session is a question-and-answer format for individual topics.
It is not intended for discussions.

·11 months agoOne more question, dear @community-team@ebay
Even if, of course, one had to inform oneself, the topic of USA parcel shipping seems to be sorted out and one can remove the USA, or is there other info from your side, or did I maybe miss something ?
Kind regards
Marc
patrick@ebay
Hello @mmstore74 ,
New US customs regulations and restrictions on postal goods shipping to the USA since 22.8.25 in case you missed it.
You can still ship, for example, DHL Express, or check with the respective other shipping providers, for example Fedex.
Best regards
Patrick

·11 months agoCan customer service actually change a buyer's return reason if the wrong reason was given?
For example, the buyer states "doesn't fit" and when asked it turns out they simply bought the wrong item for them. I just don't see why I should have to bear unjustified return shipping costs.....
nina@ebay
·11 months ago@itec-systems Hey. 😊 In principle, we can change the return reason internally. However, this is not visible to either you or the buyer. We can also leave corresponding notes for the next employee without them being visible to you.
Best regards,
Nina

·11 months agoThanks! At what point will it then be changed, and after the change will the reason be removed from the corresponding service statistics?
For order 09-13421-14601
the return reason "doesn't fit" was given, but when asked the buyer said their own device is broken. So the return reason is incorrect and I do not want to cover the unjustified return costs, and I would also like any defects resulting from the return to be removed. Could you please take a look at this?
nina@ebay
·11 months ago@itec-systems I was happy to take a look at this. The reason "doesn't fit" is a cancellation reason and therefore has no negative impact on your service status.
Defects or having to bear the return costs, for example, occur with the reasons "not as described, defective".
Kind regards,
Nina

I am referring to the removal of one of my listings:
Reference ID: 2-196249771883
I filed an appeal, which was denied.
Please take another look: on the cover of the item, there is neither a minor nor any uncovered nudity being displayed.
Thanks for your efforts!
steffi@ebay
Hello @fonobox, I understand that you are not happy with the removal of your listing and the rejection of your objection. Of course, I take your concern seriously. 🔍
I have noted the reference number (2-196249771883) and will be happy to have the case reviewed again. As soon as I receive a response, I’ll get back to you here. 📨
Thanks for your patience and understanding! 🙏

Hello and many thanks for your patience @fonobox ! 🙏
I’d like to apologize for not being able to give you an update yet. Unfortunately, I still haven’t received any feedback on your case myself. 😕
I’ve just asked the responsible team again and hope to be able to give you an answer soon. I promise – I’m staying on it and will get back to you as soon as there’s news! 🔍✉️
-----------------------------------------------
I have now received feedback from the responsible team and would naturally like to pass it on to you @fonobox directly. 📩
The removal of your listing specifically refers to the cover image, as you suspected.
Even if the title „Bilitis“ may initially seem harmless, the item is in fact the official soundtrack to the film of the same name by David Hamilton. 🎬
Since this film depicts an erotic portrayal of a minor schoolgirl, the team assumes that the girl on the cover is meant to represent this figure – i.e. a minor, real or fictional. According to our guidelines, this is not permitted, which is why the objection was unfortunately rejected. 🚫
Thanks again for your note and for your understanding of the decision.
I wish you a nice Friday and a relaxing weekend! 🌞🌷

·11 months agoUnfortunately, when returning it says I should provide one 😞
nina@ebay
·11 months ago@itec-systems I just checked again with our specialist department about this.
You have set free return shipping in the quote. This was adopted by our system in the return, which is why you are now being asked to provide a return label despite your cancellation.
Kind regards,
Nina

My question today.
I’m in the model car area, and these are collector’s items, and now I have the following problem.
The original packaging is very, very important to many collectors. If I now have 4 identical models as an example, but with different good / bad original packaging, sometimes it’s a real pain to list them at the same time, because then I get the notice that I want to list an identical item.
Every now and then it works if I change something in the text, but often it doesn’t, and then I can do whatever I want, and that’s not really the point either.
What can be done about this?
Best regards
Marc
miriam@ebay
Hello @mmstore74 and thanks for your exciting question! It’s true that for our system, several identical models are often “duplicate listings,” even if the packaging is in different condition.
Have you ever thought about using variants? You could create a variant called “original box condition” (e.g. very good, good, damaged). Then everything runs through one listing number and collectors can directly select the desired condition.
Even small differences in the title can be enough for the listings not to be classified as identical, just as you’re already doing. Alternatively, you could also wait a bit and then list the next batch of original boxes 🙂.
I see few possibilities that anything about this will change in the future, since these safety mechanisms definitely have their justification.
Kind regards
Miriam

·11 months agohello @miriam@ebay and thanks for your reply.
Yes, I actually did think about variants too, but the problem that could then arise is that many buyers either don’t read or don’t read at all, which could lead to that.
Example:
Customer sees the listing (the nicest picture as the cover image), then selects whatever it is, gets a model with bad original packaging, and if you run into the right person there, trouble is also inevitable.
Of course that can happen with individual offers too, but it wouldn’t be so "confusing" then, because many are already overwhelmed by even a minimum.
I’ll leave it for now with just changing the text, and maybe something will still happen in that regard.
Kind regards
Marc
