💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 29/03/23 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
As we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You’re also welcome to send me topics you’d like to see covered in a full Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you’re welcome to write as many posts as you like in the eBay Q&A session - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 PM. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure we answer all questions that may still be unanswered – please give us a little time for this, as we often have to ask other colleagues for support to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the bottom right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The format of the eBay Q&A session mirrors the format of our Community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A session*.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

I would like to thank you for today’s Q&A session. If any questions still come up that you would like clarified before the next eBay Q&A session, or if you didn’t have enough time for another post / answer, please open a new topic and tag me @steffi@ebay in the following way:
Of course, you can also ask me questions about your Community account or the Community itself via a @steffi@ebay

·3 years agoIs there already any feedback on how "digital goods sales" within Germany, i.e. without crossing borders within the EU and without delivery to third countries, are handled if you do not participate in OSS and stay under the sum of €10,000?
steffi@ebay
Hello @fischer-ttd , we know that these changes to the regulations have been complex. However, since we at eBay are not tax advisors, we unfortunately cannot offer you any help with tax and accounting questions.

·3 years agoeBay to seller: you have to, we decide, you have to do it, take note, we sanction, you pay…
Confused seller, eBay’s answer: we can’t, we’re just a platform, we’re not allowed to, that’s how it’s set, it won’t be changed…
Already asked last week, now it’s escalating…
Short version: buyer moved, address wrong, buyer opened a case - item not received, refund – all normal so far
No defect in service status (=good), BUT in the service statistics, where eBay grabs extra commission and opaque peer groups form. Sometimes everything’s fine, sometimes you’re a lousy seller.
Defect deletion by customer service rejected, questions by email to costumerhelp not yet answered
Unfortunately, there are now more than one question:
1. What did I do wrong in the above case?
2. I get defects in the service statistics and may have to pay more to eBay because buyers make mistakes (wrong address, wrong postal codes, etc.) and I stick to the rules (shipping to the address stored with eBay)?
3. I get defects in the service statistics and may have to pay more to eBay if, despite a tracking number, the buyer reports an item as “not received,” the delivery is subsequently proven by the shipping company, the case is closed in my favor, and I do not get a defect entry in the service STATUS? Same scenario because the package wasn’t found, was with the neighbor, someone made a mistake, or someone just wants to scam you anyway.
4. I am a seller with top ratings and may have to pay an increased commission?
5. Why can one and the same "case" be at one time NOT a defect (service STATUS) for the seller and then secretly still be a defect (service statistics)?

Hello @rest-fest, I need to look into this more closely and would please need the order number for that. Thank you very much.

With just one defect, I'm already a worse seller than the average in the peer group!
That can't be right.
steffi@ebay
Welcome to the eBay Q&A session! Since I’m the only one here today, I’d already like to ask you for a little patience when it comes to replies to your questions. Thank you very much 🙂

·3 years agoIt has already been reported here several times that sellers created the wrong label and, of course, if the tracking number was created via eBay, it cannot be changed.
Is there any chance that eBay will change this again so that no additional tracking number has to be entered? This is causing quite a bit of confusion.
What speaks against being able to change the tracking number manually?
steffi@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally, I’ll look into that right away! Thanks for your question!
steffi@ebay
I still have a follow-up question for you @perfect-sally: What exactly is meant by the seller having created the wrong label? If a seller buys the wrong label, they can cancel it and buy a new one and then link it again as well. I’d be happy to get a reply in the Mentoren Lounge 🙂.

·3 years agoHello Steffi,
for some time now, buyers can no longer see in the purchase overview whether the seller has already left feedback.
Since I only rate sellers when they have left feedback themselves (because what else are they supposed to rate apart from fast payment after purchase?), it is now very time-consuming to get this info. Before leaving feedback each time, I would have to check the feedback I’ve received.
What is the point of the change to the purchase overview from eBay’s perspective? I think that many buyers will no longer leave positive feedback at all, but only when they have something to complain about regarding the purchase.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea
Peter
steffi@ebay
Kind regards to the Baltic Sea @petersmodellbahnstuebchen , I’m happy to ask directly here based on your feedback as well, and as soon as I receive an answer, I will tag you here 🙂.

Update:
Good morning @petersmodellbahnstuebchen , we want to streamline the purchase overview and have removed the information from this overview. You can find the information on who left you feedback in your feedback profile.
Feedback is optional, and since the change we have not seen any impact on feedback. Nevertheless, we are always glad that you leave feedback and share your experiences.

·3 years agoHello @steffi@ebay
Question about PStTG, because there is uncertainty here .....
Do sellers receive a message from Ebay when one of the reporting thresholds is reached
and if so, when?
Or is there a message to sellers only then, when the report is sent to the BZSt
is forwarded.
At what point is the tax identification number requested by Ebay?
Thanks in advance!
steffi@ebay
Hello @dmary56, finally I can answer a question directly 😅:
Do sellers receive a message from Ebay when one of the reporting thresholds is reached
and if so, when? No, because: The reports are made annually in January for the previous year and for the first time in January 2024.
Or do sellers only get a message once the report has been forwarded to the BZSt
? Here I found the following: You will also receive a copy from eBay in the same period of the information about you that we have reported to the BZSt for the relevant period.
At what point is the tax identification number requested by Ebay? eBay asks for your tax identification number (IdNr.) if your sales on eBay amount to €2,000 or more after deducting fees, commissions, or taxes, or if you make 30 or more sales in the calendar year.
This information can be found and read up on here
