🗨 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 29/09/21
Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for taking part in the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don’t have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
The Q&A session will remain open until 15:00. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to make sure that all questions that may still be unanswered are answered — please give us a little time for that 🙏.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 14:00 and 15:00. The eBay Q&A format mirrors the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
Questions that we cannot answer directly during the session will be processed by us with a link to the answer.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we’d be happy if you posted your question directly in the Community or simply waited until the next Q&A session.
Best regards
Your eBay Community Team

·4 years agoHello Ebay team
You keep reading in the forum about problems with selling abroad and a total loss for private sellers - money and goods gone - fake tracking numbers or returns sent to completely different addresses.
Especially for high-priced items, are there any additional measures, or a support process that ensures for both the buyer and the seller in the event of a problem that the buyer sends the correct item back to the correct address (if necessary initially at their own expense - with later reimbursement - especially as a private seller, returning items from abroad is not easy) and that the seller also has a way to delay the blanket refund before the goods arrive back with them.
Thanks and regards
Tobias

Hello @sozialen and thanks for your question! We also know that international sales always involve a certain risk for both sides. For this reason, we recommend that sellers protect themselves as well as possible - for example with a shipping method that offers tracking - at all times. In addition, for higher-priced items, shipping insurance can also be taken out in order to cover the damage under certain circumstances.
If the trading partners cannot agree and hand the case over to us, we usually ask sellers to take the item back - even if they feel they are not at fault. It is therefore important to follow the instructions so that the seller protection takes effect. As a rule, we only reimburse buyers once the item has been returned to the return address provided by the seller. The case can be put on hold by our customer service for as long as necessary, and we recommend that you definitely contact us in such problem cases so that we can support you - we at eBay are here to help.
Kind regards
Miriam

Hello @kabel-onkel and thanks for your question! Verification via test payment is a good alternative if you don't want to use your bank login details or upload a bank statement.
We send you two test payments with small amounts, which usually show up in your bank account within 1 to 3 business days. As soon as the test payments have been received in the bank account, you will receive a reminder email 🙂.
Best regards
Miriam

Hopefully the date didn't cause any confusion 😅

·4 years agoHey 😉 since nobody dares to, at least one post from me.
Why didn’t ebay actually introduce a Q&A session like this already in May this year? That would have answered a lot of questions here about payment processing 😎

Hello @bootyooty - very good point. I think we learned something again there (which actions are more important for the community and what can still wait) - but better late than never 😅 - or so I hope!
