💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 30/11/22 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a specific topic this week, please feel free to post your general buying or selling questions here.
You're also welcome to message me topics you think should get their own Q&A session.
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you're welcome to post as many entries in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed to further questions. Of course, we will still take care to answer any questions that may remain unanswered - please give us a little time for that, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support so we can get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective reply. This quote and the reply appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we'd be happy if you ask your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A session.
Best regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·3 years agoApparently, for a little while now you can upload 24 images to the listing instead of just 12. I can’t say how long exactly. However, I only noticed this by chance when I wanted to list an item. Otherwise, apparently nobody knew anything about it either.
Only 2 days ago did I receive a notification from eBay saying that this is now possible.
Why is eBay communicating this so late and nobody knows what’s going on?
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally! In fact, this new feature came shortly after the wish for more photos for free upload was expressed in one of our Q&A sessions. Please also see my revised answer from 11/11/2022 here.
Since it can take a little while for global updates to become available in all eBay accounts, we didn't want to announce this improvement too hastily. But it's definitely a positive change, right? 😉
Best regards

·3 years agoHello, I'm receiving messages from eBay forwarded to my Gmail account. However, when I reply in Gmail, the messages are sometimes not shown to the eBay recipient and also not in my eBay messages? Thanks for any info. Best regards, U. Kehr
miriam@ebay
Hello @mexx1804! Here are a few tips for you: When replying to messages from your email program, please do not add any additional email addresses in CC and reply directly to the inquiry email. In addition, it is important not to remove the reference number in the email. If these steps have been followed and this behavior still occurs for you, please report it via our customer service.
Please also note that messages sent through the messaging system on eBay are routed via eBay servers. For the purposes of fraud prevention and preventing violations of the terms and conditions, it may be that the contents of some messages cannot be transmitted for these reasons.
Kind regards
Miriam

·3 years agoHello 🙂
Recently, bids are being canceled much more frequently with the note that the item has been damaged or is no longer available. The number of cancellations has increased significantly and, of course, this annoys the other bidders as well as me. Sellers face no consequences whatsoever, so depending on the level of bidding interest, or lack of it, the auction is simply canceled. What does eBay plan to do about this in the future???
miriam@ebay
Hello @perfect-sally! It is understandable that this behavior can be annoying. Even though the number of canceled bids does not appear to have any impact at first glance, we do take this into account in case of suspicion when reviewing sales activities.
Some sellers prefer to complete transactions only with members they trust, for example those who do not have any unpaid items.
If an auction ends early because, for example, the item is damaged or not available after all, then after the first violation a corresponding fee in the amount of the final value fee is charged if there was at least 1 bid at the time of ending.
Kind regards

·3 years agoIf I had 2 unpaid items or notices, and the seller had stored that in their settings, I wouldn’t be able to bid anyway. And if there are no notices in the account, then the seller also doesn’t know how reliable the buyers are when it comes to paying.
The fact is that recently auctions that have already received bids are very often being canceled out of the blue for some flimsy reason! That can’t be the purpose of auctions and it’s not in eBay’s interest.
miriam@ebay
I’ll take your criticism as an opportunity to revisit the issue of bid removals internally once again. Thank you very much @perfect-sally! 🙂
Kind regards
Miriam

Ah, that’s why there are so few bidders here who have hundreds of bid retractions.
miriam@ebay
Hello @Anonymous! On the buyer side, it looks different - the misuse of bid retractions with the aim of manipulating the bidding process is clearly not permitted, and information about bid retractions is also noted in the feedback profile.
This includes in particular any manipulation of the bidding process aimed at determining the maximum bid of the current highest bidder or revealing the reserve price.
If we observe patterns of very frequent or invalid bid retractions among buyers, we take far-reaching measures. These are not always immediately understandable to outsiders.
Best regards
