💬 Welcome to the general eBay Q&A session on 31/01/2024 at 2:00 PM
Hello everyone and ❤️welcome to the eBay Q&A session with the eBay Community Team.
Since we don't have a special topic this week, please feel free to ask your general buying or selling questions here (please not topics already covered by other members).
To help us answer your questions more quickly, we ask you to choose one question per post. Of course, you can write as many posts in the eBay Q&A session as you like - in fact, we'd encourage it!
The Q&A session will remain open until 3:00 p.m. After that, it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will still continue to make sure all questions that may still be unanswered are answered - please give us a little time for this, as we often need to ask other colleagues for support in order to get the correct answer for you.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, enter your question, and click "Reply" between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The format of the eBay Q&A session reflects the format of our community discussion forums, where all posts appear chronologically. The Community Team answers each incoming question in that order and then quotes the original question in the respective answer. This quote and the answer appear later chronologically and therefore further down.
IMPORTANT: even though we use the discussion forum format, the Q&A session is separate and solely for individual members' questions only and not for starting discussions - please use our discussion forum.
If you unfortunately missed the eBay Q&A session, we would be happy if you post your question directly in the Community or simply wait until the next Q&A session*.
Kind regards,
Your eBay Community Team

·2 years agoSecond question on the topic of pickup:
we would like to have the pickup acknowledged via our own delivery notes, which according to the seller portal constitutes a permitted handover process.
Do the orders absolutely have to be confirmed with the code, or can they remain like this in the order overview?
Once again: many thanks & best regards!!
miriam@ebay
Hello @elsinghorststahlundtechnikgmbh! We know that commercial sellers with an eBay Shop often cannot provide the technical infrastructure needed to perform a QR scan (no mobile phone in the system and many employees). That is why, as a rule, we accept the buyer's signature as proof of pickup.
Accordingly, there should be no problems if the orders remain in the overview 🙂. For safety, I’ll ask again for you and update my reply here by early next week.
Best regards
Miriam

And with that, we’ll end the Q&A session for today. If you need support from eBay before the next Q&A session, feel free to @mention us in the relevant topics.
Best regards

·2 years agoHello everyone,
yesterday we placed a test order to test personal local pickup.
We were able to successfully set up the pickup setting in our shipping settings.
Purchasing a test item via one of our private eBay accounts for pickup was also successful so far.
From the buyer’s perspective, the following thank-you page was displayed after the successful purchase:
Where can I enter the full pickup location as the seller in the seller area? We would also like to inform the buyer about the pickup location there.
Thanks in advance & best regards!!
miriam@ebay
Hello @elsinghorststahlundtechnikgmbh and thanks for your question! Through the item location, your customers already know which area the item can be picked up in. After the purchase, you can clarify directly with the buyer where and when the handover should take place, and we recommend getting in touch directly for that.
We are currently collecting your feedback on the topic of pickup in order to further improve the user experience in the future - I’ve just passed your suggestions on to the project team - thank you for that! 🙂
Best regards

·2 years agoeBay's AI has really done a number on me again.
I sent a buyer a return label to the eBay email address.
Then on Saturday I received a message from eBay saying that my email could not be sent because I should please follow the communication guidelines and not send promotional emails.
You really have to wonder what else is going wrong at eBay.
First the closing of the post about action against private sellers operating commercially (which eBay now indirectly admits they don't care about, since we're not supposed to discuss it anymore), and then blocking ordinary emails.....
miriam@ebay
Hello @itec_93! My first recommendation to you is to familiarize yourself with the automatic processing of valid return requests. That would save you time and make one or two steps easier - the return label would then be sent automatically to your customers.
We will take a look at the specific order to check why the email, including the attachment, could not be delivered. I will then write you an email to which you should reply with the affected order number, screenshots of your message and the error message, etc., so that we can investigate.
Referring to our announcement yesterday on the notice board: We know that our decision meets with incomprehension from some of you. Please note: We no longer tolerate publicly putting other members on the spot and we are committed to ensuring that our sellers' reputations are not damaged. Nevertheless, we will of course continue to make sure that we keep an eye on the selling activities and, if necessary, ask them accordingly to mark the eBay account as commercial.
However, only a legal advisory service can make a final assessment of whether trading is commercial or not, and the information available through our marketplace is not always sufficient for a conclusive review. Further information can be found in our legal portal.
Kind regards
Miriam

·2 years agoProbably the last point I’d like to bring up.
Under advanced search, it seems there is only one way to display a specific country or continent. It would be desirable to have more choices here as well, such as worldwide except country/countries/continent.
I’d like to search only a certain part of the world. I’d like to enter worldwide except USA, but that apparently isn’t possible.
For example, Europe and Asia as a search or Europe and USA
These combinations seem to be missing.
miriam@ebay
Thank you for sharing this request with us too, @screamlouder - I want to make sure that we make an effort to ensure your suggestion ends up in the right place 🙂.

·2 years agoThe 3rd point would be.
When I go through the listings, I naturally keep getting the ones I've already seen too. It would also be great if there were more flexibility in the displayed offers, by allowing me to hide some items that no longer interest me, so they wouldn’t be shown again in a new search. You should also be able to hide certain sellers.
I find it very tedious and time-consuming to browse through items I’ve already seen and checked and that I’m not interested in.
I think the function would be great. More options for each item and seller, such as boxes you can tick, e.g. no longer show - hide seller - hide all items from seller or no longer show - interested or that you also have a box you can click to create a new folder so you can name it yourself or add the item to an already existing folder.
Maybe these ideas will also meet with approval from other eBay users. I've been using it since 1999 and can see what I might need in use. I also see how other websites and apps are structured and wish for some things for eBay.
miriam@ebay
Wow - thanks also for this suggestion, and it’s great that you’re taking so much time to share your thoughts with us here on how eBay could get even better.
screamlouder
·2 years agoThe other thing is.
It would be great if you could sort your watchlist better.
I’d really like to decide for myself which folders I can create and what I save in them from the watchlist. I can’t sort the current watchlist according to my categories or keep things apart. More options in this area would be great.
miriam@ebay
Hello @screamlouder - I’ll take this suggestion along as well, even if so far I haven’t had the feeling that other members who comment on this here in the community want more than what is offered.
Because up to 98 watchlists can be created and up to 20,000 different articles can be added to them, there are already quite a few options here to keep your desired articles separate. Incidentally, jeach list can contain up to 300 articles.
But: Every suggestion is welcome and it would be great if there were even more organizational options for the watchlist in the future 🙂.
Best regards

·2 years agoDear Miriam, good day.
This is my first time here and I’m not quite sure yet how it works.
I have a few concerns I’d like to share. First, I’m referring to the search function on eBay.
It would be helpful if there were a function that would let you start an image search. I upload a photo and eBay searches for it in the current listings. I can’t find this function on the eBay website.
miriam@ebay
Hello @screamlouder and it’s great that you’re joining in today. Welcome to our community! I think your suggestion is great - this function would definitely be useful. After the Q&A session, I’ll share your thoughts with the people responsible.
Our platform is continuously being developed and we are committed to implementing new technologies and improving the user experience for everyone. While we’re keeping an eye on whether your request *for the desktop version can be implemented in the future, I’d recommend, in line with your question, our new podcast episode on artificial intelligence at eBay and in online retail.
Update 6.02.2024: While preparing your improvement suggestion, I noticed that image search like this already exists in the eBay app and works great - you can also search by barcode - I also wrote more detailed instructions about it here last year. Feel free to give it a try 🙂.
Best regards

·2 years agoHi @miriam@ebay
since I intend to restructure my involvement a bit in the future, I have a few questions about the shop subscriptions. I do know that you should only ask one question per post here, but I'll try anyway, since they are all related:
1. Is it possible to open several shops with one user account?
2. If not, is it possible to register multiple users with one email account?
Thanks and best wishes from the Baltic Sea
Peter
miriam@ebay
Hello @petersmodellbahnstuebchen! Well then, let’s not be too strict and turn a blind eye 😉.
So, there is only one shop per eBay account; it is not possible to run multiple country-specific eBay shops. You can also use one email address for only 1 eBay account (unless it is a guest account) - you probably already know about the existing options regarding Multi User Access; quite a bit changed there before the end of the year - New permissions for account access for multiple users.
Best wishes
Miriam

·2 years agoHello Miriam,
I’ve apparently asked 4 questions now. I hope that was right 🙂
