Accidentally clicked activate on "Special promotion for external ads"
Hello, dear community & experienced members or mentors!
As written in the subject, I accidentally activated "Special promotion for external ads" - with just 1 click: I think it's pretty questionable that you don't have to confirm that again.
What can I do now so that I don't incur any costs here?
I don't need/want any ads.
I would be very grateful for any advice!
Michael

·1 month agoHi there,
definitely deactivate it again as quickly as possible!
But I’m assuming you’ve already done that?
With a bit of luck, only a few cents will then be charged.
Was that a ready-made "ad campaign tailored to you", with "click here to start"?
I didn’t know you could activate it that quickly; normally you have to muddle through there and confirm various settings!

Or was that "simply" just a special promotion where you, for example, unlocked a discount or a voucher?
Then it doesn't matter .... that discount or voucher can only be used if you also create and launch an ad campaign :-)

OP1 month agoHello:
this is about the following:
Special promotion for external ads
Unlock 30% discount (up to €2,000), plus VAT
It currently says:
Start:
17 Jun 2026, 16:49 CEST
End:
30 Jun 2026, 23:59 CEST
Used/Remaining:
EUR 0.00Special promotions: EUR 0.00 used, EUR 2,380.00 remaining.
/
EUR 2,380.00

There is no "Deactivate" button there.
When I open my payments, I don't see any costs incurred yet.
I have zero experience with ads - maybe nothing happens if I don't select any items to promote?
Thank you for your reply+
Regards
Michael

·1 month ago · EditedHey, nothing can happen there :-)
That was the second scenario I had written down as an additional note
Just to be safe, you can take a look at your ads,
it should be this here:
https://www.ebay.de/sh/ads/dashboard
scroll down a bit, then the heading says "Campaign overview" and below that your campaigns are listed .... if there's nothing there, everything's fine
Best wishes and good business
