Ad fees charged again, even though it was a "trial" campaign
Hello,
just noticed by chance that ad fees were charged to us again, even though we had a voucher (150 net) and it ended right on the dot.
Maybe an Ebay employee could take a look at this again here.
Regards
Michael

OP8 months agoEven ended too early, although there was still credit left.
However, it didn’t make any sense for us at all

OP7 months agoHello @miriam@ebay ,
According to Patrick, that would be your area.
Could you take a look?

Hello @bmw-teilehandel - we were happy to take a look at that and your campaign ends immediately, however fees and reporting data are only fully displayed in the Advertising Cockpit after up to five days, depending on the campaign type. This is also noted under campaign performance. The amount of €36.88 was based on delayed data capture and therefore does not represent a billing error.
Best regards

Hi Miriam,
regardless of how I personally feel about the whole ads-at-Ebay complex (you know my opinion well enough already 😉), statements like this:
"however, fees and reporting data are only shown in full in the Advertising Cockpit after up to five days, depending on the campaign type"
do not exactly help change my opinion on this topic.

OP7 months agoHello Peter,
just now read your reply.
Sorry that I didn’t respond.
My trust is completely gone now too.
I always thought these trial campaigns are meant to lure the Ebay seller in.
It didn’t convince me at all, and the numbers speak a clear language.
Paid another lesson fee.
Best wishes to the North Sea 🙂

Morning Michael,
no problem. Not everyone keeps an eye on the forum all the time; after all, we all also want to sell something here. 😉
I also think that these so-called special offers are only there so that as many sellers as possible will use the tools offered.
But that is, after all, every seller's own decision whether to use these offers or not. My decision on this is clear:
Either Ebay can cope with the fees I pay for the visibility of my listings, or it can't. If not, in my opinion Ebay should rather raise the fees than try to charge more and more new "additional fees" with unnecessary gimmicks, here ads. But that seems to be the "new" trend in the sales policy of the site operators. With a pure sales commission, you'll end up being less and less visible to platform operators sooner or later, unfortunately. 😭
Despite the intense competition, all platform operators agree on this point.
In my opinion, it's time for a new platform operator to establish itself, one that is built on an honest sales strategy:
Clear fees for everyone, whether commercial or private, no ads or other frills.
That would be the platform that everyone (including myself) would immediately jump on.
By the way, just for info: I don't live on the North Sea; the water is gone there too often for me and my dogs. 😎

OP7 months agoI of course meant OSTSEE.
I check in here several times a day, but I missed the message.
If Ebay were to raise the fees in my category, that would be another reason to leave Ebay.
Right now I’m investing my time and money in other platforms that are more transparent and value me as a customer.
Have a nice evening

OP7 months agoHello Miriam,
as you can see, I ended the Shop campaign early and still had credit left.
So if I start a trial campaign with 150 euros (net) credit, then one can surely expect that it will also be used for that.
I would call something like that a scam.
But at least I learned something from it again, with all the ads, only eBay makes money.
5 days of Shop campaign have now cost 141.xx euros (voucher) + 37.50 euros.
Additional revenue 0.00 euros (not rounded up or down 😉 )
Well, anyway, I wish you a nice weekend 🙂

OP7 months agoGood morning @miriam@ebay
maybe you can enlighten me again.
Order: 06-14019-73697
was sold on 24.12.2025 and was listed on Ebay on 11.12.2025.
External ads were all ended on 9.12.2025 and yet the item is still shown as "Sold via external ads".
How is that supposed to work?
I haven't found the fees yet, but I'm sure they're somewhere or will show up somewhere at some point.

Michael

·7 months agoHello @bmw-teilehandel ,
did you set the item via 'sell a similar item' ?
bmw-teilehandel
OP7 months agoHello @voli-maus ,
yes, I had, however for that article the campaign had ended 2 days earlier.
Merry Christmas

Hi Michael,
Maybe when using the “Sell similar items” action, you didn’t deactivate the slider for ads if it was activated before?
miriam@ebay
Hello @bmw-teilehandel! We've looked into it and it can בהחלט be the case that the sale still appears in the statistics if, for example, in November someone found one of your items via an external ad and, for example, added it to their watchlist.
Then, even if that person later made a purchase, they came to your listing via the ad, and if we look at your campaign data, we would still be within 30 days after the click.
Help page: External ads - "Sales are attributed to your ad when a buyer purchases one of your items within 30 days after clicking one of your external ads. This means that the sale can still be attributed to your ad even if the buyer does not buy the exact item they clicked on."
No ad fees were incurred for this sale, so from our point of view everything is fine 🙂.
Kind regards
Miriam

OP7 months agoHello Miriam,
but that can’t be right, since the article was only created a few days after the campaign.
How can someone watch an item if it wasn’t even listed on Ebay yet?

OP7 months agoHello Miriam,
Answered too quickly, now I get it.
If a customer comes to one of our articles through external ads, but a different article that was created in the future (up to 30 days later), that counts as an ad sale.
