EU Directive on the Right to Repair. Commercial sellers need to know this

Dear sellers, if you sell goods to buyers in the EU, you may need to update your repair information and communication with buyers to comply with the new EU right to repair rules. From July 31, 2026, you must offer buyers who contact you about a faulty item the choice between repair or replacement. If buyers choose a repair, the warranty period is extended by 12 months. This applies to all goods. What you need to do For general goods: If you sell goods commercially to buyers in the EU and they exercise their legal rights within the warranty period, you have the following obligations:  If an item is reported as defective or not as described, you must offer buyers the choice between repair and replacement. If buyers choose a repair, the warranty period for the item is extended by a further 12 months. You must also inform buyers about this extension before the repair.  We recommend that you review and update your warranty processes and published policies accordingly.  For purchases made before July 31, 2026, these requirements do not apply. Additional requirements for certain products listed in Annex II: Additional requirements may apply to certain product categories listed in Annex II of the directive. These include, among others, washing machines, tumble dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, televisions, vacuum cleaners, tumble dryers, welding equipment, smartphones, tablets, cordless phones, servers and data storage products, as well as products with batteries for light electric vehicles (such as e-bikes, e-scooters, and similar devices). These requirements apply if you are a manufacturer based in the EU. If you are a manufacturer based outside the EU, a person or entity in the EU must take on the repair obligation. This is the manufacturers' EU authorized representatives or, if there are none, alternatively the importer or, if there is no importer, the sellers. For goods listed in Annex II Check the EU ecodesign requirements for your products to understand which spare parts, repair information, and services you must offer and how long they must remain available. Offer repair services for the duration of your repair obligation. Publish repair information on eBay, including details on the scope of the service, repair options, and typical repair costs. You can provide this information through seller notes, the item description, and/or the purchase confirmation email. Even if the repair obligations under Annex II do not apply to you, it is a good idea to let your buyers know who is responsible for repairs. We thank you for your support in continuously improving the buying experience on the eBay marketplace. Best regards Your eBay team Was this item useful to you? Then don’t forget to bookmark it and recommend it to others with a thumbs up.

New cancellation feature on eBay starting June 19, 2026

Dear sellers,   we are updating the eBay websites in connection with the EU right of withdrawal for purchases from commercial sellers.   On June 19, 2026, we will introduce the new withdrawal feature (also known as the withdrawal button). Users will then be able to select the option “Return item” in the purchase overview or on the “Purchase details” page and specify “Contract withdrawal” as the return reason if they want to exercise their right of withdrawal on eBay. When consumers select this reason, they will receive a copy of the “Declaration of withdrawal from the contract” by email.    Users can also access the withdrawal feature via a link in the footer of the eBay websites. This leads to a Help page on the EU right of withdrawal , which is accessible from June 19, 2026 . It contains all information about the new feature and also allows guest buyers to withdraw. Please also refer guest buyers to this help page.   What does this mean for you?   If you sell commercially to consumers, please check and update your return policies:   Your return policies (cancellation policy) should explain how the new withdrawal feature can be used. From June 19, 2026, you can include the link ( Help page on the EU right of withdrawal ) in your cancellation policy to explain it, or describe how to access the withdrawal feature.     Please note that consumers can continue to contact you directly to exercise their right of withdrawal.   We thank you for your support in the ongoing improvement of the buying experience on the eBay marketplace.   Kind regards Your eBay team Was the article useful to you? eBay Live Talk: Michael Frontzek meets Pascal Gherram from Airlift-Vintage

Dear sellers,   how do you get started with eBay Live? And what does it take to sell successfully in a livestream, inspire customers, and build an active community?   In two new videos, Michael Frontzek talks with Pascal Gherram from Airlift-Vintage about his experiences with eBay Live. Pascal sells vintage fashion, streetwear, and designer pieces live from his storage room and shows how easy it can be to get started: A smartphone, a tripod, good internet, and an authentic presentation can already be enough to showcase products live and interact directly with potential buyers.   Airlift Vintage uses eBay Live to make special streetwear and vintage pieces visible, answer questions directly in the stream, and build trust. Pascal relies on authentic communication in the stream, entertainment, and closeness to the community. Customers see the items live, can ask for details, and get a realistic picture of the condition of the products. This can make purchase decisions easier and reduce returns.   For Pascal, community engagement is especially important. Regular streams, direct interaction, special campaigns like a “Free Piece,” and an efficient after-sales process help inspire buyers. More than 150 positive live reviews show that Airlift-Vintage made the right decision to focus on Live Selling & Shopping.   Pascal has a clear goal: Airlift Vintage should become the number 1 for streetwear on eBay Live. His experiences show that live selling can be not only an additional sales channel, but also a way to present products authentically, build a brand, and develop a strong community around your own business.   Watch the two videos and find out which practical tips, lessons learned, and ideas Airlift-Vintage offers for getting started with eBay Live.   To the videos 1.
