As of January 1, 2023, VAT will no longer apply to certain deliveries of photovoltaic systems
Dear sellers,
As of January 1, 2023, a value-added tax exemption (tax rate 0%) applies to certain deliveries as well as to the installation of a photovoltaic system - including an electricity storage unit. Until now, the general tax rate of 19% applied to this. From 2023 onward, this means the net amount on the invoice will match the gross amount.
If you list items in the photovoltaic category on eBay.de, the field “VAT (optional)” is available. There you can enter any numerical value from 0. The item page will then display the note “incl. VAT” below the price.
Please leave this field blank as of January 1, 2023, if the item you are selling is exempt from VAT and you do not want the note “incl. VAT” to be displayed in your listings.
We recommend that you seek advice from your lawyer. If you have your listings on eBay created by a third-party provider, please check whether they support the functionality for the note “incl. VAT” and discuss the next steps.
We thank you for your understanding and support and wish you successful sales in 2023.
Kind regards
Your eBay team

Update 05.09.2023
Due to current court decisions on the question of how items can be advertised using the 0% VAT rate, we would like to link to our partner Trusted Shops' whitepaper on advertising these products, which can be downloaded as a PDF here .
