As of December 12, 2023: Change to the policy on eBay buyer protection
Dear sellers,
With our initiative eBay Local, we have introduced new features for the shipping option “pickup”. This is linked to an update to our eBay Buyer Protection policy effective December 12, 2023.
Until now, transactions with pickup were not sufficiently covered by eBay Buyer Protection. This will change as of December 12, 2023. eBay Buyer Protection will then apply to these transactions.
eBay continuously improves the selling and buying experience on the platform. As of December 12, 2023, claims from buyers stating that they did not receive an item picked up will be reviewed more closely.
So that you as a seller can prove that the buyer received the item, please note the following:
- Either you scanned the buyer’s QR code at pickup using the eBay app, or you manually entered the 6-digit pickup code for the pickup,
- or you have a copy of the details of the purchase on eBay or a corresponding written declaration that the buyer signed at pickup.
