The new podcast is live: How new products are developed at eBay
Dear sellers,
our podcast team talks in the new episode with Torben Schwanke, Senior Manager B2C Seller Experience Europe, about how new products are created at eBay.
By products, we mean all the functionalities at eBay that our users use to sell or buy on eBay. Behind every functionality, as Torben Schwanke explains, there is a small program that has to be developed.
At the beginning of every product development there is always the feedback from our customers on the eBay marketplace. They are listened to very carefully in order to understand which functionalities need to be improved or developed completely from scratch. And only then can the interplay of the whole orchestra begin. In it, colleagues from software development and product management, from the legal department, from marketing and from the user research area have to work together. Only then can a product be created in the end that our users want and that helps them to sell or buy even better on eBay.
And who else has to be on board when developing new products? Very important here are the third-party providers, through whose interfaces the eBay products must also be available for use. And once products are switched on, it is time to listen again, to keep an ear to the market, as Torben Schwanke says, to gather feedback again and again and to keep working on the technical improvement of the platform. And our customer service supports us in this.
