The new podcast: Returns - One person’s pain, another person’s gain
Summary: de.news@ebay introduced a new podcast episode discussing the topic of returns, highlighting how they can be a burden for some and an advantage for others.
Dear sellers,
The return rate in Germany is comparatively high. In 2021, every 4th order, around 530 million parcels, was sent back to online retailers. Today, customers expect returns to be free when shopping online. Hardly anyone thinks about the environmental impact associated with this. Our podcast team, Isabell and Tino, spoke to Maximilian Uhlenberg, e-commerce expert and Key Account Manager at Greenworks Tools, and Jeannette Schröder, Business Development Manager for DIY, garden and patio at eBay Germany, about this.
The company Greenworks, which sells and ships several hundred items every day in the tools and garden category, had to optimize its returns handling in order to avoid major profit losses. Maximilian Uhlenberg reveals how the company achieved this and how returns can be reduced from the outset or resold.
Jeannette Schröder has a lot of experience advising eBay sellers - returns processing is a big topic. She recommends finding out before you start selling how returns can best be handled at eBay. The eBay Academy and the eBay programs for sellers are good places to start.
Not only should returns of eBay orders be as easy as possible for buyers, sellers are also getting more and more support. For example, it has recently become possible to issue partial refunds if the returned items are no longer in their original condition.
