In this exciting podcast, our podcast team talks with Jenny Schmaler and Andreas Häntsch from eBay Germany about the background and benefits of one of the most important changes starting March 1, 2023: free selling for private sellers on the eBay marketplace.
Jenny Schmaler, who is responsible for the private selling area as Director Consumer to Consumer (C2C), explains the benefits in detail. Especially in times of economic challenges for all of us, the eBay marketplace offers the opportunity to earn some extra money without additional costs. In addition, the range becomes even more diverse with affordable and used items. As before, private sellers can of course improve the visibility of their listings in eBay search results using paid additional options.
Andreas Häntsch's team supports commercial sellers at eBay with many different initiatives and programs such as eBay Deine Stadt, eBay-Durchstarter, eBay Pro-Trader and also with the eBay Podcast. He also sees the change as purely positive for this group of sellers. A broader selection on the marketplace also means that more is bought - and not just from private sellers. Active sellers buy twice as much compared to buyers who do not sell. Overall, the online marketplace becomes more attractive for buyers and sellers alike.
