Two-step verification makes it possible to additionally protect your eBay account. If you choose an authenticator app as your preferred verification method, you can log in even more securely. This extra layer of security helps confirm your identity when you sign in. This makes it possible to reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your eBay account.
What is an authenticator app?
An authenticator app is an application installed on a smartphone that helps implement two-step verification securely. It generates time-limited one-time passcodes that you use to log in to your account.
Simple and secure identity verification
The 6-digit passcode generated by the authenticator app is stored locally on your device and does not require an internet or mobile service. It is based on a secret key exchanged between the authenticator app and the eBay app or website.
Enhanced security features to protect your eBay account
Using an authenticator app as the method for two-step verification is more secure than traditional methods such as SMS, voice, and email one-time passwords. It is also less vulnerable to risks that can arise from intercepting OTP codes, SIM swapping, porting, and network vulnerabilities. When the one-time passcode is sent to a device in your possession, it is difficult for hackers to intercept it.
Get started
