New on eBay Deine Stadt: Berlin is in!

we’re excited about the launch of the online marketplace Berlin bei eBay. With the support of Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH (Berlin Partner), the economic development agency of the state of Berlin, another local online marketplace could go live at ebay-deine-stadt.de/berlin. From now on, buyers will find offers from around 4,000 merchants from Berlin here. Many of them also run a brick-and-mortar store. This allows people in Berlin to support local retailers in a targeted way - even if they don’t shop in the store. The online marketplace gives merchants the opportunity to showcase their shop in an appealing way: products, opening hours, contact details, and photos of their store, as well as the Google Maps integration, spark buyers’ interest in shopping online or dropping by the store around the corner. Through text and images, they get to know the businesses from their neighborhood better. In this way, Berlin bei eBay reflects the diversity of retail in the capital: from secondhand and vintage shops to stores with all kinds of interior decor, bookstores, and many others.
With the new local online marketplace, Berlin is part of a nationwide project to strengthen local retail. The initiative “eBay Deine Stadt” enables all interested cities and municipalities to set up local online marketplaces. eBay and Handelsverband Deutschland (HDE), which supports the initiative as a cooperation partner, want to win many more cities and municipalities for the initiative in the coming months.
