New cancellation feature on eBay starting June 19, 2026
Summary: de.news@ebay informs sellers about a new cancellation feature that will be introduced on eBay starting June 19, 2026. This feature allows users to choose the "Return item" option in the purchase overview or on the "Purchase details" page to exercise their right of withdrawal. A help page on the EU right of withdrawal will also be available. Business sellers are asked to update their return policies accordingly. The eBay team thanks everyone for their support in improving the buying experience and invites them to sign up for more eBay updates.
Dear sellers,
we are updating the eBay websites in connection with the EU right of withdrawal for purchases from commercial sellers.
On June 19, 2026, we will introduce the new withdrawal feature (also known as the withdrawal button). Users will then be able to select the option “Return item” in the purchase overview or on the “Purchase details” page and specify “Contract withdrawal” as the return reason if they want to exercise their right of withdrawal on eBay. When consumers select this reason, they will receive a copy of the “Declaration of withdrawal from the contract” by email.
Users can also access the withdrawal feature via a link in the footer of the eBay websites. This leads to a Help page on the EU right of withdrawal, which is accessible from June 19, 2026. It contains all information about the new feature and also allows guest buyers to withdraw. Please also refer guest buyers to this help page.
What does this mean for you?
If you sell commercially to consumers, please check and update your return policies:
Your return policies (cancellation policy) should explain how the new withdrawal feature can be used. From June 19, 2026, you can include the link (Help page on the EU right of withdrawal) in your cancellation policy to explain it, or describe how to access the withdrawal feature.
Please note that consumers can continue to contact you directly to exercise their right of withdrawal.
We thank you for your support in the ongoing improvement of the buying experience on the eBay marketplace.
Kind regards
Your eBay team
