0% or 19% VAT in an eBay listing – how was this feature activated?
Summary: saytec-gmbh sells photovoltaic mounting components on eBay and noticed that another seller offers a choice between 0% and 19% VAT on the item page. saytec-gmbh is wondering how this feature can be activated, since only a fixed VAT rate can be set in their seller account. One participant suggests asking eBay for help, while another believes the feature was implemented through variants.
Hello everyone,
we sell photovoltaic mounting components on eBay and are currently facing a question about VAT.
In another seller’s listing, we noticed that the buyer can choose directly on the item page between 0% and 19% VAT. The following notice appears there:
“19% VAT OR 0% VAT available”
as well as a selection field:
“VAT | USt. | VAT”
Example: item number 286822841463
Unfortunately, this option is not available in our seller account. When creating a listing, we can only set one fixed VAT rate (0% or 19%).
So our questions for the community:
Does anyone know this function?
Is it tied to certain categories or products?
Does it need to be enabled by eBay?
Or is it a function only available to selected sellers?
We would like to offer our PV products in one single listing for both private customers (0% according to Section 12(3) UStG) and commercial customers (19% VAT), and we are looking for an official solution.
We would really appreciate any experiences or tips.
Thank you very much!

·1 week agoHello @saytec-gmbh , many thanks for your patience. In an offer, you can only ever set one tax rate. In the example, the seller in question simply listed different names and prices as variants and is probably creating the invoices for his buyers via a so-called third-party provider and not via eBay.
Kind regards
Elke

·1 week agoI think variants were used here. That would be one way to integrate this option into an offer.

·1 week agoHello @saytec-gmbh
let's ask an eBay employee whether she can help with that. She'll get back here.
@verena@ebay could you take a look please? Thanks
