Can't mute post. Why?
The mute button is grey, inactive. What can I do? For other users the reply buttons are grey, and you can’t reply, but not for me. I have already marked a solution.

OP8 months agoHello
Why don't you have a "Messages" button? It is there with Miriam, where the arrow is. That way you can't be contacted. That's not sensible.
molfish
·8 months agoOh yes, you can, but just not directly, only via the forum, and that's a good thing too
steffi@ebay
Hello @weltraumkrieger, thanks for your question, and please excuse my longer reply in advance! 🙏
In fact, I don’t have a button for private messages, and that is very much intentional 😊.
The reason is:
➡️ I’m available here in the community at any time, directly for you and all other members.
➡️ I don’t think private messages make sense, because this is a public exchange platform where all community members – as well as my colleagues – should be able to take part in the conversations 💬✨.
➡️ Only publicly shared content makes it possible for many people to help you or exchange ideas.
Questions about eBay, discussions, or possible solutions in particular should be visible to everyone so that as many people as possible can benefit from them and the community has added value overall 🤝🌟.
If solutions or helpful info take place in private messages, that knowledge unfortunately gets lost.
⏰ I’m active in the community Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
If you send me a private message outside that time, unfortunately it will just sit in my inbox and won’t be seen promptly.
➡️ If you post your concern publicly instead, you reach a much larger number of helpful members and eBay colleagues – and often a solution faster too.
Very important:
👉 You can simply tag any member, and of course us eBay employees too, at any time by putting the @ sign before the username.
That way you make sure the person in question sees the post and can respond 😊.
If, however, you have an issue that involves a moderation action or cannot be resolved publicly, the Community team is of course available to you 📬:
👉 contactcommunity@ebay.com
I hope that clears up your question – and as I said: here in the community you can reach me directly (almost) anytime (always) 😊✨.
steffi@ebay
Hello @weltraumkrieger, it's really a shame to read that you no longer want to use the eBay Community in the future 😔. You are always warmly welcome here, and we appreciate every member who gets involved.
Basically, marking the solution is exactly the right way to show that the original poster considers the topic resolved 👍. If other community members see it the same way and no new replies come in within three months, the thread is automatically archived. This keeps the community as up to date and clear as possible 🗂️✨.
Of course, we can also – albeit with a heavy heart – close your community account 😢. This has no effect on your regular eBay account. Please note, however:
➡️ Closing is final and cannot be reversed later.
➡️ If at some point you do want to take part in the eBay Community again, you would have to create a completely new eBay account for that.
This in turn means that we would no longer be able to help you specifically with your “real” eBay account, since verification would not be possible – we could only reply in general terms.
I hope this explanation helps you 🙏💛. If you have any questions or anything is unclear, feel free to get in touch anytime.

·8 months ago@bootyooty here we are waiting for a response from @miriam@ebay or @steffi@ebay. 😘

·8 months agoHi @weltraumkrieger
if you want not everyone to be able to reply, you have to post your post in the Members help members section. Only mentors or eBay employees can reply there.
Or in the Private sellers among themselves section.
For all other members, the option to reply is not available.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoI want so that no one can reply.
How can I end the forum membership?
petersmodellbahnstuebchen
·8 months agoHey @weltraumkrieger
very simple: just stop writing and stop reading. Then you'll eventually be history here.
petersmodellbahnstuebchen
·8 months agoHi @weltraumkrieger
I’m afraid I can’t tell you who has the permission in the forum to mute a post, since I don’t know.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoIn other forums, the user can do that.
*sweet-melody*
·8 months agoGood morning and a lovely second Advent!
Quite simply, as @petersmodellbahnstuebchen already wrote, no questions, no answers.
But you can still read there.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoCan you delete forum membership? I want to keep the account for buying. I get the impression that both are linked. I find that a shame. That's just a guess. I don't know for sure.

·8 months agoTHERE IS NO MEMBERSHIP HERE !!!
YOU SHOWED UP IN THE DISCUSSION FORUM WITH QUESTIONS.
THIS HERE IS PUBLIC FOR ALL CUSTOMERS AND SELLERS !!!
The only way for you would be to keep quiet or sit on your hands.

·8 months agoIf, in a topic (thread), all the reply fields turn grey and no more comments are possible, then the thread has been closed/locked.
Only eBay employees who are active in the forums can lock threads, and as far as I can tell, not all of them can.
@miriam@ebay or @steffi@ebay can do that.
A thread is closed when
- things get too wild, in the moderators' opinion
- it is very old
- when someone who started a topic wants it closed.
So if you want a thread closed, you should send one of the ladies I mentioned a message asking for it to be closed.
bootyooty
·8 months agoThe closing of a thread and the absence of the "Reply" button have nothing to do with the "mute" option in the menu.
It is more likely about no longer receiving notifications when you have subscribed to the thread.
petersmodellbahnstuebchen
·8 months agoHi @bootyooty
I just tried your tip. Unfortunately, that’s not the issue:
Then “Subscribe” changes to “Cancel subscription”.
bootyooty
·8 months agoHi @petersmodellbahnstuebchen or subscribe to the RSS feed and mute it instead?
In any case, a closed thread is not muted.
Maybe that's also a function for moderation, or just for eBay employees.
bootyooty
·8 months agoMaybe @alena@ebay 😘 can look into what this is about.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoIn other forums, you can no longer send messages in closed threads.
kenn-i-di-1
·8 months agoI suggested a solution for that.
Since for me a "mute" normally means that you can more or less hide individual users because you no longer want to read their replies, and that is obviously not possible here, I didn’t go into muting any further so as not to cause confusion.
TE wanted, at least as I understood it, for no one to be able to reply anymore, and I responded to that.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoYes. That’s what I wanted. For me, the topics are over.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoIn other forums, users can close their thread, but not here. I don’t understand it. You also can’t correct or add anything here, which is possible elsewhere.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoI tried it:
for miriam@ebay it says: Users who have disabled private messages are removed from the send list and do not receive a message.
and for steffi@ebay the button for sending a message is completely missing.
So it is not possible to send the ladies a message. That is bad.
weltraumkrieger
OP8 months agoSending does work though. I just can't name the threads, because then it won't be sent. I don't think that's good.
bootyooty
·8 months agoNope, that makes sense; if PMs were open, the three of them would only be busy replying to PMs, you see that, right?
From tomorrow morning on, you can reach Miri and Steffi here in the community again and ask them to delete or close your threads.
perfect-sally
·8 months agoStarting tomorrow morning, you can reach Miri and Steffi here in the community again and ask for your threads to be deleted or closed.
Yeah, and then a new thread will just be opened again and the whole drama starts all over again! 👎
petersmodellbahnstuebchen
·8 months agoHey @perfect-sally
but maybe then more background info will come out and one can actually help him for once. Let me just dream about something positive for once. 🤔
