Hello!

I can receive direct messages and type a reply, but I can't send the message. It's the same with Firefox and Opera. I use a laptop.

I just accidentally discovered (while hiding a message) that something similar to what you want already exists. It’s an overview of received and sent messages, sorted by conversation partner.

Try whether this link works for you:

Edit:

In the tab on the left side in the forum, you can also get to this page in direct messages with the link Show all .

Since yesterday evening, you can no longer read or write direct messages.

This option is no longer shown anywhere.

The "View all" link is also gone (error 404)

Is this only temporary?

According to eBay, it was first temporarily deactivated for security reasons and probably not without reason.

There are specialists who reply by PM when they can't answer certain questions here. I suspect that also plays a role.

I can send direct messages.

But I have the problem that I can’t find the general inbox/mailbox; instead I always have to go through a roundabout way to get into the messages menu (not the inbox, but the sender’s open message. I’d like an inbox with the number of unread messages shown in brackets.

you can wish for a lot on Ebay, but whether the Christ Child brings everything is still written in the stars.

I always get the direct messages shown in the corresponding folder, and when there are new ones, that’s shown too:

I just sent you a direct message (browser: Chrome). Just click on the message and try to send a reply.,

Thanks Verena and Peter! It doesn’t really work for me. Every time I go down a line, I create a new message. In every line of mine, I have the menu, with which you can also send. I’m not sure how many lines of text you received from me.

as I could read, everything worked out. Maybe in your reply also mention that Enter = Send and that to start a new paragraph you should use Shift + Enter.

However, that happens to me all the time too.

So that was the crux of the matter! I’m not allowed to make paragraphs the way I’m used to. I would never have thought of that. Thanks!

Thanks for marking it, perfect-sally. I suspect a graphical display problem.

The received message and the editor with my reply text overlap partially and I can't scroll all the way up or down. If there should be a button with "Send" below the editor, then I can't see it.

The menu at the top right is mostly cut off a bit at the top too, so I don't have all the options.

The button with the hover effect with the three little dots behind which the menu is hidden is tiny and has too little contrast. For members with visual impairments, these dots are barely recognizable. 😒 I only discovered them by chance recently when I touched the text field of a received message with the mouse.

If a full view of the message and editor is needed, I’m happy to take a screenshot of that. However, I don’t want to do that with the direct messages I’ve already received. The sender might object to it.

It was a bit different this time than usual. I could write more than just one line, and that was then also taken over. I had the button with the menu items in every single line of mine. Whether my reply got through - no idea.

Let's ask an eBay employee whether there might possibly be special settings needed there or whether a problem is known.
